  • Direct-drive robots have excellent features including no backlash, small friction, and high mechanical stiffness. However, dynamic coupling among joints as well as nonlinear effects become more prominent than traditional robots with reducers. Another critical issue is that the robot becomes more sensitive to the change of load. In this paper, we develop a simple current feedback scheme for reducing the influence of dynamic coupling and load sensitivity on the direct-drive robots. The method is implemented on a 2 d.o.f. planar direct-drive robot. Then the validity of the method is demonstrated through experiments.

  • This paper is concerned with design and control of semi-active tuned mass damper. The equipment consists of permanent magnet and coil. If current flowing in coil is changed, the natural frequency of the semi-active tuned mass damper is changed. In previous research, a current flowing in coil was changed manually. In this time, we design the feedback control system. The experiment proceed that the excitation frequency is shifted from 4Hz to 9Hz. The result of experiment proves that semi-active tuned mass damper is better than passive tuned mass damper in performance of absorbing vibration.

  • This paper addresses the synthesis of an iterative learning controller for a class of linear systems with norm-bounded parameter uncertainties. We take into account an iterative learning algorithm with current cycle feedback in order to achieve both robust convergence and robust stability. The synthesis problem of the developed iterative learning control (ILC) system is reformulated as the ${\gamma}$-suboptimal $H_{\infty}$ control problem via the linear fractional transformation (LFT). A sufficient convergence condition of the ILC system is presented in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Furthermore, the ILC system with fast convergence rate is constructed using a convex optimization technique with LMI constraints. The simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • DC-DC converter with chopper is seen to have problems, such as, loop instability and degradation of transient response, due to the interaction between input filter and switching regulator. In this paper, the switching regulator consisting of input filter and double chopper is analyzed, and the state space model at continuous current mode and the transfer function between duty ratio of switching pulse and output voltage are derived. The controller in this paper is designed as feedforward(P) and feedback(PI) control scheme to minimize the variation of output voltage, and computer simulation results are presented to show the performance of the proposed controller.

  • Recently, the power supply equipments have tendency to take multiple feedback loop paths. In this paper, the state space averaging technique is applied for the analysis of flyback type current mode control circuit. We made real converter for the gurantee of stable output characteristic and proper design of feedback circuit. The validity of proposed method is verified from test results. The improvement of stability is confirmed by sinusoidal signal injection method with isolated transformer. It is known that phase margin is sufficient and gain crossover frequency $f_c$ is nearly 1/5 of switching frequency $f_s$ from the experimental result with frequency response analyzer.

  • The frequency response on the tip-sample distance in scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM) that is combined with an electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance (EQCM) is described. The oscillation frequency of the EQCM increases rapidly when the SECM tip is very close to the substrate electrode surface. This frequency increase is reproducible regardless of the current feedback in SECM, which is attributed to the stress caused by the tip pressing the quartz crystal. It is useful to calibrate the tip-sample distance with respect to the frequency change when a combined system of SECM and EQCM (SECM-EQCM) is used. This method could be applied to several cases such as rigid metal electrode and non-conducting or partially conducting polymer coating prepared on the quartz crystal regardless of the feedback current.

  • The landscape of the current fitness trackers is not only limited to the aerobic exercises but also the weight training is comparatively excluded. Recently, a few weight training fitness tracker was released, human-computer interaction was not well designed due to the lack of considering the context. Because body movement would be intense while doing exercises, having exercise performers hold or operate a device makes a negative experience. As the wearable device is always inseparable to body, it could provide effective feedback because holding or operating a device is not necessary. Therefore, this study aims to make the exercise performers feel a natural feedback through the wearable device to do effective exercises. As a result, this study identified three findings. First, the information which exercise performers most needed was 'during exercise.' and the most necessary information for exercise performers through wearable device's sensory feedback was about 'pace control' with counting and motivation. Second, the order of the most preferred presentation type of sensory feedback was auditory feedback, haptic feedback and visual feedback. Third, the satisfaction, utility, usefulness score of sensory feedback as same as the personal trainer's feedback. In conclusion, this study illustrated the feedback design implications using a wearable device while doing weight training and the possibilities that wearable device could be substitute for personal trainer.

  • This paper presents a new method for controlling the current of lighting LEDs without current sensors. This method can be used as backup against LED current sensor faults. LED lighting requires a circuit with a constant current in order to maintain the same brightness when the ambient temperature changes. Therefore, we propose a new current estimation method to provide backup in case of current sensor faults based on the calculation of the inductor current. In the fabricated circuit, the average current changes from 144.03 mA to 155.97 mA when the ambient temperature changes from 0℃ to 60℃. The application of this study can enable the fabrication of a driving IC for LEDs in the form of a single chip without sensing resistors. This is expected to reduce the complexity of the peripheral circuit and enable precise feedback control.

  • The novel control method of ZVS Full-bridge PWM converter with pulse load current is proposed. This new control method can reduce the switching loss of switches during no load condition. Moreover by using feed-forward load current information this method can obtain better transient dynamics compared to the system with only linear feedback control.
