This study aims to inquire into the expressive characters of Shiro Kuramata's works regarding his design languages. His design languages, based on sentimentality and aesthetics characteristic of the orient and his unique memories and experiences, can be defined as nongravitation, fioatation and transparency. And the definition can be completed by his unique extinguishing technique, eliminating the structure with materials without feature, such as glass and acrylic and expanded metal, steel mash and 'Star piece Terrazzo' a material which he has invented. This study examines Shiro Kuramata's design works from the late 1960's to 1991, the year of his death, the background of his growth and the art and people who have influenced him. It also looks into the indigenous cultural background and his unique memories and experiences. The study also considers his furniture works and interior design to read his languages properties of the materials and expressive techniques. The study presents data on Shiro Kuramata and puts forwards the significance of his works and tries to lead the way of the interior design by application techniques of materials.

To upgrade home style recommendations and user satisfaction, this paper proposes a personalized and optimized recommendation algorithm for interior design style based on local social network, which includes data acquisition by three-dimensional (3D) model, home-style feature definition, and style association mining. Through the analysis of user behaviors, the user interest model is established accordingly. Combined with the location-based social network of association rule mining algorithm, the association analysis of the 3D model dataset of interior design style is carried out, so as to get relevant home-style recommendations. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can complete effective analysis of 3D interior home style with the recommendation accuracy of 82% and the recommendation time of 1.1 minutes, which indicates excellent application effect.

This study aims by analysing the interior design elements trends of current medium size office buildings in Seoul. The analysing objects are ceiling, floor, wall, and illumination plan of current office buildings. Analysing tools are finishing material and color of each part. Analysing areas are lobby area, deskwork area, conference area, welfare area, public area(rest room, corridor, stair). The interior design elements of lobby shows a lots of different features then the other areas in ceiling, floor, and wall design. Such difference appears at finishing material especially, and the coloring is more splendorous then the other areas. Desk work area and conference area have similar characteristics in finishing materiors and colors, and they usually follow the needs of function. Walfare area shows more splendorous feature then deskwork and conference area, and designed by various materials and colors. Public area also shows very active design concept then past times.

This study was conducted to determine a 'platform' as a mean of interactions between users in contemporary spatial design and network(web) and to verify the similarity between the platform and space of Rem Koolhaas, one of the leading contemporary architects of our time. A platform, referring to tangible or intangible structures designed for common use in a variety of ways, is activated by the networking effect of participants. Aided by the recent development of the IT industry encompassing computers and smart phones, the concept of platforms is extending to all areas of modern life, in general. In this study, the similarity between architectural space and platforms after reviewing the computer-related platforms, ecological features that refer to virtuous circulation, and various cases applied with platform thinking. Through this process, the platform feature of architectural platforms is defined as the 'open spatial system combined with control and freedom that acts more than one function and facilitates direct/indirect exchanges between users regardless of its type or size'. Establishing the criteria for spatial analysis based on this definition, analysis was conducted on interior design projects that were planned and conducted by Rem Koolhaas after 2000. As a result of this analysis, it was learned that Rem Koolhaas designs space using dual space structures where the extension and mixture of the user group, mixture of various functions defined by users, loose control that induces voluntary participation, community reinforcement, and inducement of accidental events, and opening and closing coexist. In addition, this design approach was found to be a design strategy similar to the concept of platforms that began to be developed in the IT field.

Today, 'Emotion' has come to stay as a powerful culture code. Though there has been not a few research results based on the recognition of the importance of emotion, the concept of 'Emotion' still differs according not only to researchers but also to the fields. There firstly lies the aim of this study to research the moaning and feature of 'Emotion' through John Dewey's Theory of Experience. Secondly, this study tries to categorize the strata of emotion in space, and further tries to present the methodology for the study of emotion shown in the space. Emotion is the impulse corresponding to the root force drawing out indefinite situations into the context of the problem, and is also the force which integrates all the elements in the process of reflective correlation. Emotion can be referred to as the activating and combining force which makes it possible for the separate elements to be related to the whole as one, and as the feature forming the completion of the transaction between organisms and environment.

This study analyzes interior features of indoor community facilities, focused on apartment complexes in capital area selected by 'Award of best living apartment' during $2000{\sim}2007$. First we analyze community facilities' concept, present standards of installment, present condition, then the size of each complex compared with legal standards. Also, we analyze interior features(spacial layout, furniture and furnishings, interior finishing materials, interior color), too. Research methods included both data survey and site visiting inquiry. Data survey method analyzes size of each complex using community facilities' floor plans, and site visiting inquiry analyzes type and feature of community facilities. Survey target was total 11 complexes, 7 in Seoul, 4 in Gyeonggi-do. The result is as follows. 1) It is needed to improve legal standards of installment, and to provide space with flexibility and changeability in order to allow alternation of usage purpose by resident's claim. 2) To determine size of community facilities, we must planned not only by the number of households, but by legal standards of supply according to the number of households, the rate of net area, and the recommended size per person. 3) The area of community facilities in apartment complex that residents use doesn't considered user's convenience. So it us needed to add each facility's recommendation in response to user's needs.

The purpose of this study is to analyze environmental-friendly design features in landscape architecture. The process of the study first started theoretical research of 'Environmental-friendly' and 'Landscape', then extracted primary conceptual elements that based on ecological background, and analyze 20 cases, from 1990 to now, based on elements that extracted. Summarizing about environment-friendly feature in landscape architecture of Form, Space, Energy Management is as following. First, In the formal aspect, Landscape architecture tend to harmonize with surrounding environment through horizontal, vertical continuity that is realized to transform artificial plate. Second, In the spatial aspect, Landscape architectural space has flexible feature. It is expression through methods blur boundary between outside and inside, lead to change and experience by time, indeterminacy of program. Third, In the energy management aspect, the introduction of effective energy system increase environmental features in space through technical application and environmental-friendly materials.

The number of household living alone including young single adults has gradually increased. The purpose of this study is to examine the demand on housing options, additional space, shared space, community facilities, housing service for young adults living alone including college students. A total of 180 questionnaire were collected and analyzed. For housing location, commuting distance is the most important feature and amenities are the second important feature. For additional space, there is a significant difference between male and female single residents. Female residents want to install dress room most while male adults want to have a study room. For the shared house option, single adults concerns housing fee and living cost most. However, female adults concern safety and security issues much more than male ones do. The degree of preference to community facilities varies between male and female single residents. The findings suggest more differentiated approaches are needed for alternative housing options for male and female residents.

Wabi-Sabi is the most conspicuous and characteristic feature of what we think of as traditional Japanese beauty. It occupies roughly the same position in the japanese pantheon of aesthetic values as do the Greek ideals of beauty and perfection in the West. All things air impermanent. All things are imperfect. all things are incomplete. it offers an aesthetic ideal that uses the uncompromising touch of mortality to focus the mind on the exquisite transient beauty to be found in aoo things impermanent. Wabi-Sabi is a beauty of things imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete. It is a beauty of things modest and humble. It is a beauty of things unconventional. Wabi-Sabi is the art of everyday life. These may be the methods for the relationship establishment between human and space on the ground of Wabi-Sabl concepts which is commonly found no in contemporary interior space in japan.

The best feature of Hotels is they have 24 business hours providing various services. But Interior designers can't change space to answer every demands, it's mood can be changed by lighting design. Especially guest rooms have complex functions like space with habitability and office use. Well planed lighting design in guest rooms is an essential element to help creating interior space in designer's intention with cozy feeling. Here this study is purposed to present a desirable lighting environment satisfying future-oriented function and design throughout the latest examples' analysis of guest room carrying out various functions in hotels.
