고장력 강판 부분용입 맞대기 용접부의 피로균열진전수명 평가 (Fatigue Crack Propagation Life of Partially Penetrated Butt Welds in High Strength Steel)

  • Fatigue behaviour of partially penetrated butt-welded joints in high strength steel plates, in which crack-like structural defect, i.e. lack of penetration(LOP), is inevitably introduced during welding processes, was investigated. Fatigue lives of two types of welded joints, namely X-grooved and K-grooved joints, were experimentally determined first. Observed fatigue crack propagation behaviours of the partially penetrated butt-welds were interpreted through considering 3-dimensional semi-elliptical crack shape in front of the LOP. Based on such interpretation, a fracture mechanical method to estimate stress intensity factors at the crack tip was proposed. Since the fatigue lift of the partially penetrated butt-welds was strongly influenced by the ratio of size of the LOP to thickness, D/t, the D/t was used as a main parameter to calculate the fatigue lift by using the proposed method. Comparison of the fatigue lift obtained experimentally and analytically agreed well with each other. Hence it is suggested that the method used in this work to predict fatigue lift of the partially penetrated butt-welds can be applied to real cases with improved lift-prediction capability.

  • Fatigue crack growth behavior of inclined cracked Al 6061-T6 thick aluminum plate(6mm) repaired with the bonded composite patch was studied. A 0°inclined crack bonded reinforced composite patch and 15°, 30°, 45°, 60°inclined crack plates were tested. The effect of patch and inclined angle were studied and compared to each other. Also we investigated to the crack propagation direction and debonding behavior during the fatigue crack growth test. In this paper. a study was con(ducted to get an fatigue life, fatigue crack growth ratio and crack growth direction. Finally, the effectiveness of composite patch on inclined cracked plate was investigated. The results demonstrated thats there was a definite variation in fatigue life and fatigue crack growth behavior depending on the inclined crack angle.

  • It is useful way to make indentations near crack tip in order to increase fatigue life or repair a fatigue crack. In this study, bending fatigue tests were performed to investigate the optimal position of the indentations near crack tip. The results shows that fatigue life of the specimen is dramatically increased by indentation and the most effective location is the back of the crack tip.

  • Fracture life and crack retardation behavior were examined experimentally using CT specimens of aluminum alloy 5083. Crack retardation life and fracture life were a wide difference. between 0.8 and 0.6 in proportion to ratio of load reduction. The wheeler model retardation parameter was used successfully to predict crack growth behavior. By using a crack propagation rule, prediction of fracture life can be evaluated quantitatively. A statistical approach based on Weibull distribution was applied to the test data to evaluate the dispersion in the retardation life and fracture life by the change of load reduction.

  • 본 연구에서는 국내산 비규칙성 짧은 섬유로 강회된 SMC 복합재료의 피로파괴 특성에 대한 기초자료로서 피로균열의 진전특성을 나타내는데 기존파괴 역학의 적용여부를 살펴보며, 서로 다른 피로모드 상태 하에서 하중크기의 상태에 따른 피로균열진전의 특성을 나타내었으며, 또한 주사형 전자현미경(scanning electron microscope)을 사용한 파단면 관찰을 통해 파괴 메카니즘을 살펴보았다.

  • The compressive residual stress, which is induced by shot peening process, has the effect of increasing the intrinsic fatigue strength of surface and therefore would be beneficial in reducing the probability of fatigue damage. However, it was not known that the effect of shot peening in corrosion environment. In this study, the effect of shot peening on corrosion fatigue crack growth of sping steel immersed in 6% $FeCl_3$ solution and corrosion characteristics with considering fracture mechanics. The results of the experimental study corrosion fatigue characteristics of spring steel are as follows; the fatigue crack growth rate of the shot peening material was lower than of the un peening material. And fatigue life shows more improvement in the shot peening material than un peening material. This is because the compressive residual stress of surface operate resistance of corrosion fatigue crack propagation. It is assumed that the shot peening process improve corrosive resistance and mechanical property.

  • On this study, the fatigue crack propagation of super duplex stainless steel is investigated in conditions of various volume fraction of austenite phase by changing heat treatment temperature. And we analysed acoustic emission signals during the fatigue test by time-frequency analysis methods. As the temperature of heat treatment increased, volume fraction of austenite decreased and coarse grain was obtained. The specimen heat treated at $1200^{\circ}C$ had longer fatigue life and slower rate of crack growth. As a result of time-frequency analyze of acoustic emission signals during fatigue test, main frequency was $200{\sim}300kHz$ having no correlation with heat treatment and crack length, and 500kHz was obtained by dimple and separate of inclusion

  • It is important to evaluate fatigue damage of in-service material in respect to assure safety and remaining fatigue life in structure and mechanical components under cyclic load . Fatigue damage is represented by mathematical modelling with crack growth rate da/dN and cycle ration N/Nf and is detected by X-ray diffraction and ultrasonic wave method etc. But this is estimated generally by single parameter but influenced by many test conditions The characteristics of it indicates fatigue damage has complex fracture mechanism. Therefore, in this study we propose that back-propagation neural networks on the basis of ration of X-ray half-value breath B/Bo, fractal dimension Df and fracture mechanical parameters can construct artificial intelligent networks estimating crack growth rate da/dN and cycle ratio N/Nf without regard to stress amplitude Δ $\sigma$.

  • 용접강구조물에서는 용접비드와 같은 응력집중부가 많이 존재한다. 또한 용접부에서는 용접결함이 발생할 가능성이 많다. 반복적인 피로하중이 응력집중부에 작용하면 응력집중부에서 피로균열이 발생하고, 발생된 균열의 전파에 의해 피로파괴사고를 일으킨다. 따라서 피로파괴사고를 미연에 방지하기 위하여 균열발생수명과 균열전파수명과 같은 피로수명의 파악이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 피로균열전파특성 연구에 사용되는 컴플라이언스를 도출하였다. 이 컴플라이언스는 피로균열의 자동화 측정에 활용할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 CT시험편에 대하여 in-house FEM program을 사용하여 컴플라이언스를 계산하였다. 이 계산결과는 저자의 앞선 연구에서 본 프로그램을 사용하여 계산한 J integral의 계산결과와 대비하여 a/W와의 관계를 제시하였다. 그리고 또한 CT시험편 Back Face의 중앙부로부터 위아래 방향의 스트레인 분포에 계산을 실시하였다. 이 분포에서는 중심으로부터 위아래로 갈수록 스트레인이 감소하는 경향을 나타내었다. 이상의 계산과정으로부터 균열진전시험의 자동수행을 위한 컴플라이언스를 얻을 수 있었다. 이것으로부터 CT 시험편의 피로균열진전시험의 자동화에 활용이 가능하게 되었다.

필렛용접이음부의 후처리에 따른 피로강도 향상 메커니즘의 연구 (The Study about the Fatigue Strength Improvement Mechanism by the Processing of Fillet Welded Joint)

  • 본 연구는 필렛용접 이음으로 된 종리브 십자 시험체를 대상으로 용접토우의 후처리에 의한 피로강도 향상의 메커니즘을 밝히고, 적절한 후처리법을 제안하고자 한다. 인장피로시험 결과, 용접 그대로의 시험체 보다는 후처리된 시험체들에서 피로강도 향상이 보였다. 특히, 피로균열 발생수명 $N_c$는 해머피닝(Hammer-Peening)후 그라인더 처리를 한 시험체에서, 그리고 피로균열 진전수명 $N_p$는 해머피닝 시험체 들에서 각각 증가현상을 보였다. 여기서, $N_c$는 용접토우의 기하학적 형상, 즉 응력집중의 완화때문에, 또한 $N_p$는 해머피닝에 의해 표면에 도입된 큰 압축잔류응력이 피로균열의 진전을 억제하고 있기 때문이라고 생각된다.
