Design and Implementation of a Novel Fast Handoff Algorithm for Streaming Service in Wireless LANs (무선랜에서 스트리밍 서비스를 위한 새로운 고속 핸드오프 알고리즘의 설계 및 구현)

  • We have considered fast handoff algorithms to support seamless streaming in wireless LANs. It is impossible to provide seamless streaming service while moving within wireless LANs, In this paper, we proposed a new handoff algorithm where the critical value for handoff can be adjusted according to peripheral wireless circumstances. This algorithm can prevent an unnecessary scanning job and save handoff delay time through the active scanning procedure to the specific channel groups. Also, we evaluated the handoff performance of our proposed algorithm, and compared it with the performance of the existing wireless LAN. We can see that the performance with our proposal is better than that of the general wireless LAN.

  • Handover is very important to support the mobility of user because wireless ATM networks have smaller cell size such as micro/pico cell for broadband mobile multimedia service In this paper, we propose dynamic path reservation handover scheme for fast inter-MSC (Mobile Switching Center) handovers To reduce the handover delay for connection re-routing, the proposed scheme reserves virtual channels from nearest common node to neighbor MSC in advance Especially, our handover scheme predicts the number of inter-MSC handover calls at each period by the prediction algorithm and reserve virtual channels The simulation and analysis results show that our scheme reduce handover complexity and has higher reservation channel utilization, compared with DVCT scheme.

  • Recently, many research works are focusing on DVC (Distributed Video Coding) system for low complexity encoder. However the feedback channel-based parity bit control is a major cause of the high decoding time latency. Spatial and temporal correlation is high in video and, therefore, the statistical property can be applied for the parity bit request of LDPCA frame. By introducing frame adaptive parity bit request estimation method, this paper proposes a new method for reducing the decoding time latency. Through computer simulations, it is shown that the proposed method achieves about 80% of complexity reduction, compared to the conventional no-estimation method.

  • To support the telematics and infotainment services, vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication requires a robust and reliable network. To do this, the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) has recently developed V2X communication. For reliable communication, accurate channel estimation should be done. However, because vehicle speed is very fast, radio channel is rapidly changed with time. Therefore, it is difficult to accurately estimate the channel. In this paper, we propose the new linear minimum mean square error (LMMSE) channel interpolation scheme based on the Long Term Evolution (LTE) sidelink system in vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) environments. In our proposed reduced decision error (RDE) channel estimation scheme, LMMSE channel estimation is applied in the pilot symbol, and then in the data symbol, smoothing and LMMSE channel interpolation scheme is applied. After that, time and frequency domain averaging are applied to obtain the whole channel frequency response. In addition, the LMMSE equalizer of the receiver side can reduce the error propagation due to the decision error. Therefore, it is possible to detect the reliable data. Analysis and simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme outperforms currently conventional schemes in normalized mean square error (NMSE) and bit error rate (BER).

Fast Group Scanning Scheme in IEEE 802.16e Networks (IEEE 802.16e에서 그룹 기반의 빠른 스캐닝 기법)

  • The mobile station which is about to do handover in IEEE 802.16e networks scans its neighboring base station channels to decide its next target base station. However, due to the lack of location information of its subscribers, the serving base station cannot provide any reliable candidate channel which is actually attachable by the scanning mobile stations, which makes the mobile station suffer from the long scanning time. Sometimes, long scanning time may cause the degradation of quality of service due to repeatable scan-duration or failure to start the handover procedure in time. To overcome these problems, in this paper, we propose a new protocol so called fast group scanning scheme, in which multiple mobile stations form a group to scan their neighboring base station channels simultaneously. Main contribution of this proposal is to find and decide a reliable target base station within a short scanning time. The fast group scanning scheme can be deployed to the cell network of the serving base station with a dynamic neighboring base station list management.

  • In this paper a communication system using direct sequence spread spectrum (DS/SS) technique is constructed to transmit burst format data over power line channel with impulsive noise and narrowband interferences. Fast code synchronization is acquired by digital matched filter and data decision is accomplished by sampling pulses. In order to examine the performance of the power line communication system, but error rate and packet loss rate are measured over the simulation channel with various noise sources. When the packet composed of 1-bit preamble and 63-bit data is transmitted under very high burst impulsive noise, the bit error rate is about 10$^3$-10$^4$ and the packet loss rate is below 0.07.

  • Hybrid-ARQ and opportunistic relaying are the widely used schemes for obtaining diversity gain in wireless communications. In opportunistic relaying, channel state information(CSI) between relays and destination is required to select the best relay. But if the destination moves very fast, the CSI becomes outdated. In this paper, performance of hybrid-ARQ based opportunistic relaying with outdated CSI is analyzed in outage probability and throughput perspective. The analysis is verified by computer simulations.

  • In this paper, we have analyzed a performance of fast frequency hopping communication systems when a rayleigh fading caused by envelope variations of a signal received in multipath channel is, but it is not considered that intentional or unintentional jamming can be. The multipath fading channel and rayleigh fading are confirmed by theoretical analysis. In fading or non-fading, the performance of this system is studied. When the path diversity is applied to this system, the performance is shown to be superior to non-diversity systems about 20dB. for modulation methods, BFSK was compared with DPSK.

  • By feedback channel, the decoder reports the addresses of corrupted macroblocks induced by transmission errors back to the encoder With these negative acknowledgements, the encoder can make the next frame having propagated errors by using forward dependency based on GOBs and MBs of the frame happening transmission errors. The encoder can precisely calculate and track the propagated errors by examining the backward motion dependency for each of four comer pixels in the current encoding frame until before-mentioned the next frame. The error-propagation effects can be terminated completely by INTRA refreshing the affected macroblocks. Such a fast algorithm further reduce the computation and memory requirements. The advantages of the low computation complexity and the low memory requirement are Particularly suitable for real-time implementation.
