The purpose of this study is to propose measures for social work practice to enhance the happiness of middle-aged married men and women by identifying the effects of family stress and social support resources (formal and informal support resources) on marital satisfaction among mid-life married couples. Subjects were selected through purposive sampling among married men and women aged between 40 and 59 and living in Seoul City and Gyeonggi province. The study results are follows. First, the average score of family stress was 3.06 points (SD=.56), slightly higher than the median value of 3 points. Of all subscales of family stress, the subjects experienced the most stress from family relationships, followed by financial problems, health and loss of families, and work-family compatibility. In regard to social support resources, the mean value of all social support resources categories was greater than the median. Among the subscales, informal support (family support and support from other people) was found to be higher than formal support. The level of marital satisfaction was higher than the median, and the score was 3.21 points (SD=.78). Second, in order to explore differences in marital satisfaction according to family stress and social support, differences in marital satisfaction were analyzed by grouping subjects who scored high, middle, and low levels of marital satisfaction. According to the results, marital satisfaction was statistically significantly higher in the group that experienced less family stress (F=6.25, p<.01). With respect to social support, marital satisfaction was statistically significantly higher in the group that received high social support (F=29.68, p<.001). Third, according to the analysis of factors affecting marital satisfaction in middle-aged married men and women, subjective economic status, family relationship stress, economic stress, and family support showed statistical significance. The higher the subjective economic status and the lower the family relationship stress and economic stress levels, the higher the marital satisfaction among middle-aged married men and women. In addition, the greater the family support, the higher the marital satisfaction. The results of this study underscore the need to improve family relationships in middle-aged married couples and to distribute family life education programs that can strengthen family support resources. For example, family relationship enhancement programs are currently performed, including "Family School for Middle-Aged Baby Boomers" and others as part of the Healthy Family Support Work regarding the promotion of marital satisfaction of middle-aged couples. In addition, continuing effort is warranted to include content on strengthening family support resources, maximizing the effectiveness of programs, and promoting service accessibility.

This study set out to investigate if work-family conflict and work-family enhancement would have mediating effects on the impact of gender role attitudes of women from double income households on their satisfaction of work and marriage. A structural modelof gender role attitudes was set as the independent variable, work-family conflict and work-family enhancement as the mediating variables, and work satisfaction and marriage satisfaction as the dependent variables. The subjects consisted of 2,713 married women from double income households and information was obtained from the first year data of the Korean Longitudinal Survey of Women and Families (KLoWF) collected by the Korean Women's Development Institute (KWDI). Using SPSS 15.0 software, descriptive statistics were gathered, and frequency and factor analyses were conducted. AMOS 7.0 software was used to analyze both the measurement model and the structural model. The results indicate that work-family conflict and work-family enhancement had partial mediating effects on the impacts of gender role attitudes on work and marriage satisfaction among women from double income households. Notably, work-family enhancement had a greater effect than work-family conflict, which suggests that the elements of work-family enhancement, which are the positive aspects of work on family and family on work, should be promoted. It is, however, also important to make efforts to resolve work-family conflict by increasing the satisfaction level of work and marriage among women from double income households.
Purpose: This study was conducted to construct and test a structural model on family life satisfaction of aged individuals living at home. The conceptual model was based on Bandura's self-efficacy and social cognitive theories (1977; 1986) and Bowen's (1976) family systems theory. Methods: From January 25 to March 5, 2016, 227 older adults living at home completed a structured questionnaire. Data were analyzed to calculate the direct and indirect effects of factors affecting family life satisfaction. SPSS WIN 20.0 and AMOS 20.0 were used. Results: The hypothetical model was a good fit for the data. The model fit indices were ${\chi}^2=78.05$, ${\chi}^2/df=1.35$, RMSR=.02, GFI=.98, AGFI=.96, NFI=.94, CFI=.98, and RMSEA=.05. Family life satisfaction was positively affected by perceived collective family efficacy, status of physical health, family communication, and family support. Depression resulted in a significant negative effect. Family differentiation had a significant indirect effect on family life satisfaction. The model explained 76% of variance in family life satisfaction. Conclusion: Perceived collective family efficacy, status of physical health, depression, family differentiation, family communication, and family support were significant factors explaining family life satisfaction among older adults staying at home. Further research should be conducted to seek intervention strategies to improve family life satisfaction among older adults living at home by focusing on the respective contributing factors.
This study compares marital satisfaction between male and female rural migrants and explores the effects of characteristics of rural migrants and family values on marital satisfaction. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire. The survey included 483 migrants living in rural communities of North Jeolla Province and South Jeolla Province. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, cross tables, the t-test, correlations, and a hierarchical regression analysis using SPSS 21.0. According to the results, marital satisfaction was higher in men than in women. In addition, the effects of characteristics of rural migrants and family values on marital satisfaction were greater in men than in women. The major determinant of marital satisfaction in men was economical preparation, whereas that in women was family values. Economical preparation for rural living was more important for men, and the sufficient understanding and internalization of rural living was more important for women. In particular, family values represented the main variable between men and women in terms of marital satisfaction. These results suggest that family relationships may be the most important factor influencing rural migrants' marital satisfaction and that spousal relationships may be the core factor influencing family relationships.

In order to clarify the above problems the data were obtained from questionaires with 72 items. The selected sample is composed of 365 housewives in chong Joo city. SAS pc program was used for th statistical analysis of the data. Data was analyzed by frequency percentage mean F-test Duncan's multiple range test regression analysis path analysis pearson's correlation coefficient. Major findings are as follows: first age of couples education of couples durati n of marriage family life cycle number of children income were variables to have influence on communication in the family, And communication styles were variables to have influence on communication in the family. Second age of couple education of couple duration of marriage family life cycle number of children were variables to have influence on marital satisfaction. And communication styles were variables to have influence on marital satisfaction. Third there were positive relation between communication in the family and marital satisfaction. Background: The objective of this study was to explore patient family's evaluation of emergency department (ED) service satisfaction and to compare these with ED staff perception of patient family's evaluation. Methods: Based on two surveys of the National Emergency Medical Center: the 2008 National Survey for Recognition and Satisfaction towards Emergency Medical Services and the 2008 Opinion Survey of Emergency Medical Service Providers, satisfaction gaps among physicians, nurses, and patient family were evaluated by Kruskal-Wallis tests and Wilcoxon-Mann-Whitney tests. Furthermore, the factors associated with satisfaction of emergency medical service were identified by ordinal logistic regression models. Results: There were statistically significant gaps among physicians, nurses, and patient family in overall satisfaction with ED visit, length of stay in ED, enough explanation, physicians/nurses kindness, and ED facilities. Age and income in the patient family model, the number of beds in hospital, job satisfaction and year of service in the physicians model, and the number of beds in hospital, job satisfaction and the number of patients per duty hour in the nurses model were statistically significant factors associated with evaluation/ perception of ED service satisfaction. Conclusion: Patient satisfaction is an important indicator of the quality of care and service delivery in the ED. To improve and understand satisfaction in ED service, a dyadic view of the evaluation of service quality and satisfaction-that is, from the perspectives of both the patient and the emergency medical service providers-should be concerned.

The purpose of this study is to investigate some related factors which influence the well-being of the family life among the rural housewives, based on the satisfaction of the leisure. Questionnaires were distributed to the 200 housewives residing in Anseong. The 187 data obtained were analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, F-test, Duncan’s multiple range test and correlation. The major findings of this study were summarized as follows. (1) There were significant differences on the satisfaction of sports leisure, culture center leisure and music and play leisure among the rural housewives according to the social demographic variables. (2) There were significant differences on the family life well-being among the rural housewives according to the satisfaction of sports leisure, the satisfaction of music and play leisure, the satisfaction of culture center leisure, the occupation of premarriage and the number of family members. Based on the above findings, it has been found that the satisfaction of leisure remains important factors to guide according to the radical changes. If greater attentions should be directed to the satisfaction of leisure activities, the quality of family life could be improved and stabilized.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the nursing work environment and family satisfaction in Korean intensive care units (ICUs). Methods: The study participants were 190 critical care nurses and 133 family members of ICU patients who were randomly chosen from four of the hospitals located in B city. The Korean Nursing Work Environment Scale was used to assess the work environment of critical care nurses. Family satisfaction was measured with the Korean version of the Critical Care Family Needs Inventory. Results: Critical care nurses reported moderate satisfaction with their work environment. The mean score for family satisfaction was 3.59 on a 5-point scale, and satisfaction with information provision received the highest score. Family satisfaction was higher in hospitals where the critical care nurses evaluated their work environment positively. Conclusion: This study revealed that the work environment of nurses affects family satisfaction in ICUs. Therefore, it is necessary to explore various methods of improving the critical care nursing work environment in order to provide the highest possible level of nursing care.

The demand and supply of programs of parenthood programs for fathers are increasing with changes in the image of male parents. Under this backdrop, a necessary requirement is to analyze the current status of father programs that are spearheaded by governments and the satisfaction with them to determine if they actually meet the needs of fathers. This study conducted such an examination for the fatherhood programs that were provided as a mandatory public service by the Healthy Family & Multicultural Family Support Center in 2017. To this end, the research analyzed performance and satisfaction data on 776 projects, including 1293 programs that were required for provision in 101 integrated centers nationwide. The results showed that satisfaction with fatherhood programs differed according to the project area, the location of a center, the period of implementation, the methods of proceeding, the participation unit (whether an entire family or an individual family member), the number of participants, and the number of sessions. Overall, the level of satisfaction was higher in "fathers meetings" (under the community domain) than "support for the father role" (under the family relationship domain). In relation to implementation period, satisfaction with the programs was high in the 4th quarter of implementation. Satisfaction with the programs was also higher for culturally based initiatives than education-oriented programs. Satisfaction was higher when the participation unit was the family than when such unit was the individual. The smaller the number of participants, the higher the satisfaction level. Finally, the number of sessions was deemed satisfactory when it was completed in more than four sessions. This study is meaningful in that it provides the basis of effective use of the government budget by analyzing the status and satisfaction of the fatherhood programs, which have been implemented since the integration of the Healthy Families & Multicultural Family Support Center.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of family climate of fathers' family of origin, fathers' satisfaction with marriage and life, and parenting on father-son intimacy. A total of 297 adolescents(M=15 yrs. SD=1.4) and their fathers completed questionnaires. Data were analyzed by structural equation model using AMOS 7.0. Results indicated that 1) family climate of fathers' family of origin affected further-son intimacy positively through both fathers' high marital and life satisfaction, and thereby supportive parenting behavior. 2) Family climate of the family of origin affected farther-son intimacy negatively through low marital satisfaction and thereby high psychological controlling parenting. These results evinced that family climate of father's family of origin could be the source of father-son intimacy while fathers' marital and life satisfaction and parenting behaviors mediate the relationships.
