In this paper, we present the concept of generalization in constructing windows for subsequence matching and propose a new subsequence matching method. GeneralMatch, based on the generalization. The earlier work of Faloutsos et al.(FRM in short) causes a lot of false alarms due to lack of the point-filtering effect. DualMatch, which has been proposed by the authors, improves performance significantly over FRM by exploiting the point filtering effect, but it has the problem of having a smaller maximum window size (half that FRM) given the minimum query length. GeneralMatch, an improvement of DualMatch, offers advantages of both methods: it can use large windows like FRM and, at the same time, can exploit the point-filtering effect like DualMatch. GeneralMatch divides data sequences into J-sliding windows (generalized sliding windows) and the query sequence into J-disjoint windows (generalized disjoint windows). We formally prove that our GeneralMatch is correct, i.e., it incurs no false dismissal. We also prove that, given the minimum query length, there is a maximum bound of the window size to guarantee correctness of GeneralMatch. We then propose a method of determining the value of J that minimizes the number of page accesses, Experimental results for real stock data show that, for low selectivities ($10^{-6}~10^{-4}$), GeneralMatch improves performance by 114% over DualMatch and by 998% iver FRM on the average; for high selectivities ($10^{-6}~10^{-4}$), by 46% over DualMatch and by 65% over FRM on the average.

A time-series data is the collection of real numbers over the time intervals. One of the main tasks in time-series data is efficiently to find subsequences similar to a given query sequence. In this paper, we propose an efficient subsequence matching method, which is called Instance-Match (I-Match). I-Match constructs a virtual window in order to reduce false alarms. Through the experiment with real data set and query sets, we show that I-Match improves query processing time by up to 2.95 times and significantly reduces the number of candidates comparing to Dual Match.

In this paper, throughput of IEEE 802.11 carrier-sense multiple access (CSMA) with collision-avoidance (CA) protocols in non-saturated traffic conditions is presented taking into account the impact of imperfect channel sensing. The imperfect channel sensing includes both missed-detection and false alarm and their impact on the utilization of IEEE 802.11 analyzed and expressed as a closed form. To include the imperfect channel sensing at the physical layer, we modified the state transition probabilities of well-known two state Markov process model. Simulation results closely match the theoretical expressions confirming the effectiveness of the proposed model. Based on both theoretical and simulated results, the choice of the best probability detection while maintaining probability of false alarm is less than 0.5 is a key factor for maximizing utilization of IEEE 802.11.
In this study, we propose an automated unit test generation technique for detecting vulnerabilities of Android kernel modules. The technique automatically generates unit test drivers/stubs and unit test inputs for each function of Android kernel modules by utilizing dynamic symbolic execution. To reduce false alarms caused by function pointers and missing pre-conditions of automated unit test generation technique, we develop false alarm reduction techniques that match function pointers by utilizing static analysis and generate pre-conditions by utilizing def-use analysis. We showed that the proposed technique could detect all existing vulnerabilities in the three modules of Android kernel 3.4. Also, the false alarm reduction techniques removed 44.9% of false alarms on average.
Hemangioma is the most common benign tumor of the liver, with a prevalence estimated as high as 7%. Tc-99m red blood cell (RBC) hepatic blood pool scan with single photon omission computed tomography (SPECT) imaging is extremely useful for the confirmation or exclusion of hepatic hemangiomas. The classic finding of absent or decreased perfusion and increased blood pooling ("perfusion/blood pool mismatch") is the key diagnostic element in the diagnosis of hemangiomas. The combination of early arterial flow and delayed blood pooling ("perfusion/blood pool match") is shown uncommonly. In giant hemangioma, filling with radioactivity appears first in the periphery, with progressive central fill-in on sequential RBC blood pool scan. However, the reverse filling pattern, which begins first in the center with progressive peripheral filling, is also rarely seen. Studies with false-positive blood pooling have been reported infrequently in nonhemangiomas, including hemangiosarcoma, hepatocellular carcinoma, hepatic adenoma, and metastatic carcinomas (adenocarcinoma of the colon, small cell carcinoma of the lung, neruroendocrine carcinoma). False-negative results have been also reported rarely except for small hemagniomas that are below the limits of spatial resolution of gamma camera.

Copy-move forgery (CMF) in digital images is a detrimental tampering of artefacts that requires precise detection and analysis. CMF is performed by copying and pasting a part of an image into other portions of it. Despite several efforts to detect CMF, accurate identification of noise, blur and rotated region-mediated forged image areas is still difficult. A novel algorithm is developed on the basis of quaternion polar complex exponential transform (QPCET) to detect CMF and is conducted involving a few steps. Firstly, the suspicious image is divided into overlapping blocks. Secondly, invariant features for each block are extracted using QPCET. Thirdly, the duplicated image blocks are determined using k-dimensional tree (kd-tree) block matching. Lastly, a new technique is introduced to reduce the flat region-mediated false matches. Experiments are performed on numerous images selected from the CoMoFoD database. MATLAB 2017b is used to employ the proposed method. Metrics such as correct and false detection ratios are utilised to evaluate the performance of the proposed CMF detection method. Experimental results demonstrate the precise and efficient CMF detection capacity of the proposed approach even under image distortion including rotation, scaling, additive noise, blurring, brightness, colour reduction and JPEG compression. Furthermore, our method can solve the false match problem and outperform existing ones in terms of precision and false positive rate. The proposed approach may serve as a basis for accurate digital image forensic investigations.
This paper proposes a method for rejecting false matches in automobile rear view camera image sequences. Our method consists of two submethods which utilize the motion characteristics of an automobile. One is for a straight motion and the other is for a curve motion. First, we classify an image sequence into a straight motion or a curve motion and then apply an appropriate submethod. Our method works in cases where the percentage of true matches is as low as 30%.
In this paper, we proposed the compensation technique that overcomes the limitations of the conventional approaches through summing up the bias terms between world's codebook and individual codebook vectors of feature parameters. But, mean compensation without condition can bring higher false acceptance. Therefore, the proposed technique compensates the channel mis-match condition by weighted bias sum using nonlinear function regarding to the distortion between speech and silence. The simulation results show that the FRR (flase reject rate) is decreased 14.95% when the proposed algorithm was applied.
In this paper, performance of IEEE 802.11 carrier-sense multiple access with collision-avoidance (CSMA/CA) protocols in saturated traffic conditions is presented taking into account the impact of imperfect channel sensing. The imperfect channel sensing includes both missed-detection and false alarm and their impact on the performance of IEEE 802.11 is analyzed and expressed as a closed form. To include the imperfect channel sensing at the physical layer, we modified the state transition probabilities of well-known two state Markov process model. Simulation results closely match the theoretical expressions confirming the effectiveness of the proposed model. Based on both theoretical and simulated results, the probability of detection is concluded as a dominant factor for the performance of IEEE 802.11.
An extensive research on exact string matching has been done, but there have been few researches on the matching in multi-byte character set texts such as EUC~KR. This paper shows that false matches may occur in multi-byte character set texts such as EUC-KR when using KMP algorithm, and presents a refined KMP algorithm without false matches applying a character-based prefix function. And also, Experimental results show that our algorithm is faster than string matching algorithms of widely used editors, Vim and Emacs, and the existing automata-based algorithm.
