Recently, many countries around the world are investing heavily in green industries based on green IT technology. The key industry in the green industry is LED. If we replace traditional lighting, we can save a lot of socioeconomic costs. Because it is energy efficient. However, the research and development on maintenance and management are still insignificant about LED lighting. Therefore, after the failure, the post-treatment is delayed and often occurs. In order to solve these problems, it is planned to detect the failure of the LED lighting and to establish a monitoring system that can monitor the situation in real time on the computer or mobile phone of the remote manager using the latest IoT network technology.
Purpose: Accelerated degradation tests can speed time to market and reduce the test time and costs associated with long term reliability tests to verify the required service life of a product or material. This paper proposes a service life prediction method for components or materials using an accelerated degradation tests based on the relationships between temperature and the rate of failure-causing chemical reaction. Methods: The relationship between performance degradation and the rate of a failure-causing chemical reaction is assumed and least square estimation is used to estimate model parameters from the degradation model. Results: Methods of obtaining acceleration factors and predicting service life using the degradation model are presented and a numerical example is provided. Conclusion: Service life prediction of a component or material is possible at an early stage of the degradation test by using the proposed method.

A maintenance plan of power system equipment reduces failure rate caused by equipment's age. To prevent unexpected failure, the maintenance is performed periodically according to the interval time. The more expansive equipment's scale is, the more the maintenance without considering costs sustains a economical loss. Hence, the maintenance's time and the cost must be considered when maintenance which is considering the reliability is implemented. In this paper, optimum maintenance interval is calculated by considering minimum maintenance cost of the equipment with the combined cycle units in Korea power systems.
In computer integrated manufacturing environment, tool management plays an important role in controlling tool performance for machining operations. Knowledge of tool behavior during the cutting process and effective tool-behavior prediction contribute to controlling machine costs by avioding production delays and off-target parts due to tool failure. The purpose of this paper is to review and develop the tool condition monitoring scheme for drilling operation to assure a fast corrective response to minimize the damage if tool failures occur. If one desires to maximize system through-put and product quality as well as tooling resources, within an economic environment, real-time tool sensing system and information processing system can be coupled to provide the necessary information for the effective tool management. The example is demonstrated as to drilling operation when the aluminum composites are drilled with carbide-tipped HSS drill bits. The example above is limited to the situation that the tool failure mode of drill bits is wear.
As the power industry moves towards open competition, there has been a need for methodology to evaluate distribution power system reliability by using customer interruption costs, particularly in power supply zones under the competitive electricity market. This paper presents an algorithm to evaluate system average interruption duration index, expected energy not supplied, and system outage cost taking into consideration failure rate of the distribution facility and industrial customer interruption cost. Also, to apply this algorithm to evaluate system outage cost presented in this paper, the distribution arrangement of a dual supply system consisting of mostly high voltage customers in an industrial complex in Korea is used as a sample case study. Finally, evaluation results of system interruption cost, system average interruption duration index, and expected energy not supplied in the sample industrial complex area are shown in detail.

This paper proposes age replacement policy in stepdown warranty policy. The replacement policy is considered in case of minimally repairable items. And renewal theory is used in analyzing warranty costs. The expected cost per unit time is presented in stepdown warranty policy, free replacement, prorata and hybrid policy. In this article it is assumed that item is replaced at the age of T but the any failure is minimally repaired before the age T. At this point the expected cost per unit time is shown in customer's view point. And numerical example is explored in weibull time-to-failure distribution.
This study aims towards the improvement of a reinforced concrete rigid-frame bridge in an effort to reduce the construction and maintenance costs, and achieve an improved seismic performance. Correspondingly, a new structural rigid connection is proposed for H-shaped steel girders and reinforcing bars at the corner of the rigid-frame structure. Both experiments and numerical analyses were performed. Prototype models were constructed and subjected to static loading tests to reveal their load-carrying capacity and failure mode. Numerical models were then developed using finite elements to evaluate the experimental results. Analyses elicited good agreement between simulation and experimental data and validated the numerical models. Moreover, the validity of the proposed rigid connection was confirmed, and the failure behavior was clarified. Finally, a full-size model of the reinforced concrete rigid-frame bridge with H-shaped steel girders was constructed and subjected to destructive loading tests to evaluate structural integrity of the proposed rigid connection.
This paper suggests optimal accelerated constant stress life tests in Exponential distribution. The relationship between the log-mean life and the loaded stress is assumed to be linear. Optimal plans considering mean square errors of maximum likelihood estimators of the log mean life and test costs are obtained. We consider accelerated life tests with two stress levels, and as data types, failure censoring( type II) and time censoring(type I) data are used. We propose the procedure to obtain the optimal plans for each case. Some examples are also included.
Burn-in is a widely used method to eliminate the initial failures. Preventive maintenance policy such as block replacement with minimal repair at failure is often used in field operation. In this, paper burn-in and maintenance policy are taken into consideration at the same time. The cost of a minimal repair is assumed to be a non-decreasing function of its age. The problems of determining optimal burn-in times and optimal maintenance policy are considered.
