한의과대학생의 유급경험에 관한 현상학적 연구 (The phenomenological study on the Experience of Korean Medicine Students who have academic failure)

  • Objectives : The aim of this study was to explore the academic failure experiences of Korean Medicine Students. The academic failure in a medical school is defined as the situation the student who have academic failure need to repeat their academic year again. Methods : Data were collected through in-depth individual interviews from April to May 2016 and analyzed through Colaizzi's phenomenological methodology. The participants were interviewed twice, for 30minutes to 60minutes per interview. Results : Eight theme-clusters of were identified from 21 themes. The theme-clusters were 'Dream of university life and freedom', 'Meeting Stranger academic field and growing study stress', 'Difficulty of self-management', 'Weak supporting system', 'Feeling of guilty, sense of isolation and decreasing in self-esteem', 'The experience during the vacation after the academic failure', 'The experience of returning to school' and 'Self growing through hard experience'. Conclusions : Understanding of academic failure experience of Korean Medicine Students is an important approach to counsel them and an important way to reach a good model of education at a medical college.

만성신부전 환자의 체험 (Experience of Patients Living with Chronic Renal Failure)

  • The Purpose of the study was to understand the experience of chronic renal failure patients for the qualified individual care for them. The purpose of this study was to explore the experience of patients living with chronic renal failure and to identify the meaning and structure of their experience. The subjects were four patients, two females and two males. The age range was from 21 to 54. Data was collected with a few in-depth interviews by the authors until the data was fully saturated. The framework and methodology of this study was based on Parse′s "Human Becoming methodology," an existential phenomenological research methodology. The findings of this study were as follows. Three experience structures of chronic renal failure patients were : 1. Sufferings and conflicts originated in the frustration caused by uncurable disease. 2. Dependence upon God and significant others with complex emotions. 3. Acceptance of sufferings, emerging hope for serving people, and gratitude for living. In conclusion the experience of chronic renal failure patients could be described from the findings (three structures) as "Experiencing the sufferings, conflicts originated in the frustration caused by uncurable disease, dependence upon God and significant others with complex emotion, acceptance of the suffering and hope for serving people, and gratitude for living." The three structures of the lived experience of patients with chronic renal failure, the findings of this study, could be explained by the three concepts of "Theory of Human Becoming," the first structure could be explained with values, the second with revealing-concealing, and the third with transforming.

Successful vs. Failed Tech Start-ups in India: What Are the Distinctive Features?

  • The entrepreneurial journey is not short of challenges, and about 90% + tech start-ups experience failure (Startup Genome, 2019). The magnitude of the challenges varies across the tech start-up lifecycle stages, namely emergence, stability, and growth. This opens the research question, do the profiles of a start-up and its co-founder impact start-up success or failure across its lifecycle stages? This study aims to understand and identify the profiles of tech start-ups and their co-founders. We gathered primary data from 151 start-ups (Status: 101 failed and 50 successful ones), and they are across different lifecycle stages and represent six major start-up hubs in India. The chi-square test on status and start-up's lifecycle stage indicates a noticeable correlation, and they are not independent. The Kruskal Wallis test was used to distinguish statistically significant profile attributes. The parameters distinguishing success and failure are identified, and the need to deliver customer experience is emphasized by the start-up profile attributes: Product/service, high-tech nature of a start-up, investor fund availed, co-founder experience, and employee count. The importance of entrepreneurial experience is ascertained with entrepreneur profile attributes: Entrepreneurial expertise, the number of prior and current start-ups, their willingness to start again in the event of failure, and age of co-founder, which is a proxy to learning and experience. This study has implications for entrepreneurs, investors, and policymakers.

Remarks on Education Method to Turn Failure Experience to Instructions for Engineering Design

  • This article proposes to examine how the study of failure differs from other technical subjects, and how to turn failure experiences to one's advantage. The authors surveyed the properties of failures in PBL (Project Based Learning) and also examined students' interest and understanding of failure, after introducing failure examples. To investigate how students communicate failure experiences to third parties, reports of the failure experience in PBL were evaluated. From above mentioned surveys, we get the following results. The typical causes of failure in educational institutions are lack of skill in manufacturing and inadequate planning, which conversely are minor causes of failure in the industry. A knowledge database on failure, employed commonly in industry, is not effective in PBL, because projects in educational institutes are usually changed every year. Case studies in failure can be approached from many points of view including causes, processes, effects and safety measures. While teachers should emphasize the notable points in the failure examples in introducing examples of specific topics in machine design, teachers should explain the multiple aspects in the failure examples to educate students about the complexity of actual accidents.

User Experience Validation Using the Honeycomb Model in the Requirements Development Stage

  • Recently, the importance of user experience (UX) has been rapidly increasing. Its utilization is emphasized for development of systems, products, and services. User experience is widely used across industries including services, products, processes, society, and culture. Therefore, if it is unsatisfactory, it is likely to have a direct negative impact on the corresponding system, product, or service. The failure to analyze user experience causes significant damage to the project, which may lead to its failure or redevelopment; it is hence necessary to prioritize the verification of UX in the earliest stages of development. The requirements development stage, which is a preceding stage, is an appropriate stage for the verification of user experience because the identification of user needs is completed and prototypes can be implemented. In this paper, we proposed a systematic requirements development stage; it adds user experience verification activities to the requirements development stage, using the Honeycomb model, which is a widely used tool for verifying the overall UX. User experience verification was added to the existing requirements development activities, which consisted of three steps: model definition and requirements placement, discussions between external and internal stakeholders, and review by internal stakeholders. By easily validating the user experience through this systematic requirements development stage, we expect to minimize the damage to the project due to the failure of the user experience analysis and increase the possibility of success.

항공서비스 실패가 불평행동과 전환행동에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Failed Airline Services on the Complaint and Switching Behavior)

  • This study examines the effects of failed airline services on the consumers' psychological process and their behavioral responses. Having different classifications from the previous studies, this study focuses on dividing important factors of airline services into search attributes(e.g. sale and procedure services, services concerning flight attendant, in-flight services) and experience attributes(e.g. flight services, collateral services). Using structural equation modeling, this study shows that the failure of service factors of the experience attributes provokes the feeling of disappointment with mediation effect of external attribution while the failure of service factors of search attributes provokes the feeling of regret with mediation effect of internal attribution. Finally, disappointment leads to consumers' complaint behavior while regret leads to consumers' switching behavior. Unlike previous studies, we show that when a service failure occurs, depending on each attribute, consumers feel negative emotions of disappointment or regret through different attribution processes and finally show different behavioral responses with an empirical analysis.

만성신부전환자의 주보호자로 살기 (The Lived Experience of Caregivers of Chronic Renal Failure Patient)

  • Purpose: The research aims to understand the lived experience of the caregivers of chronic renal failure(CRF) patients and its essential meaning. The results of the study can be used as basic materials for developing comprehensive intervention methods of care givers of CRF patients. Method: The research used van Manen's hermeneutic and phenomenological research methods in order to describe the lived experience and to understand its meaning. It concentrates on the understanding the essence of experience and consists of existential survey, hermeneutic and phenomenological reflection and hermeneutic writings. Participants in this research were five women care givers of CRF patients who had hemolysis at C university hospital in a metropolitan city, the period of data collection was from July 27 to Sep. 4, 2004 and major data of results in the following 5 essential themes. "sole responsibility for the patient enduring everything", "creating their own field", "heavy and painful life without hope of their private life", "wishing not to be inherited and consoling each other". Conclusion: The above findings point out that the experience of care givers of CRF patient affected and changed all parts of an individual life and his or her family life. Therefore, it suggests that total family nursing care must be considered in order to provide the holistic caring for CRF patients and their care givers.

  • 본 연구는 경호원의 실패요인을 규명하기 위하여 실패귀인을 추출하고, 사례통합분석을 통하여 위해패턴 요인을 도출하였다. 실패귀인은 완전 개방형 질문지(8명)를 시작으로 반구조화 질문지(17명), 폐쇄형 설문지(179명)를 제작하여 SPSS 21.0, AMOS 21.O 통계패키지를 통하여 자료를 처리하였다. 실패귀인과 실패사례 간의 인과관계(경호 실패패턴 요인)를 분석한 결과, 박정희 암살사건에서 불성실(2), 부정적 마인드(1), 업무능력부족(1), 경험부족(2), 조직의 비체계성(2), 사명의식결여(1), 개인주의(1), 업무공유실패(2), 사명의식결여(2) 등 14개의 실패 패턴이 발견되었고, 아웅산 묘소 폭발사건은 불성실(1), 부정적 마인드(1), 업무능력부족(2), 경험부족(2), 개인주의(1), 업무공유실패(1) 등 8개의 실패패턴이 있는 것으로 조사되었으며, 육영수여사 저격사건의 경우, 불성실(2), 부정적 마인드(1), 경험부족(2), 사명의식결여(2), 업무공유실패(1) 등 8개 실패패턴이 있는 것으로 조사 되었다. 3개 사례와 실패귀인 요인간의 관계에서 총 30건의 실패패턴이 발견되었다.

기업가의 창업 실패 경험과 재교육이 재창업에 미치는 영향: 창업 동기의 조절효과를 중심으로 (The Effects of Entrepreneurs' Failure Experience and Re-education on Subsequent Venture: Moderating Effect of Entrepreneurial Motivation)

  • 사회적으로 창업에 대한 관심이 고조되고 있지만 사실 창업은 실패할 가능성이 높게 내포되어 있는 위험한 도전이기도 하다. 창업 연구에 있어 실패는 필연적으로 연구되어야 할 부분이지만, 기본적으로 실패를 회피하고 싶고 선호하지 않는 경향 때문에 상대적으로 폭넓게 연구되어 오지 못했다. 실패는 기업가에게 있어 고통스럽고 큰 비용을 수반하는 경험이지만 긍정적으로 연결시킬 수만 있다면 성공으로 나아가기 위한 하나의 관문이자 촉매제로 작용할 수 있는 값진 경험이기도 하다. 창업 실패를 경험한 기업가에게 사회적 차원의 도움이 필요하다는 주장이 제기되며 최근 재창업 지원제도의 일환으로 재창업 교육 등을 통해 재기하고자 하는 창업가들에게 도움을 주고자 하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 실패를 경험한 기업가에 주목하여, 실패 경험을 통한 학습과 사회적 지원책으로의 재창업 교육이 재창업에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 살펴보고자 하였다. 더불어 기업가의 개인적 요인으로 기업가의 행동에 큰 영향을 미친다고 알려져 있는 창업 동기에 주목하여, 실패 경험이 재창업에 미치는 영향 및 교육이 재창업에 미치는 영향에 기업가의 창업 동기가 어떠한 효과를 주는지 고찰해보고자 하였다. 분석을 위하여 재기중소기업개발원의 실패 후 재창업을 계획한 연속 창업가들을 대상으로 설문을 통해 데이터를 수집하였다. 분석 결과, 이전 창업 경험으로부터 학습효과가 큰 기업가일수록 재창업 할 확률이 높았으며 재창업 교육으로부터 학습효과가 큰 기업가일수록 재창업할 확률 역시 높은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 창업의 외재적 동기가 클수록 이러한 이전 경험과 재창업 교육의 학습효과가 재창업에 미치는 긍정적 영향은 줄어드는 것으로 나타났다.

창업경험과 창업의도의 관계에 대한 연구: 사회인지적 요인의 매개효과 및 성별의 조절효과 (The Influence of Entrepreneurial Experience on Entrepreneurial Intention: Mediation Effect of Social Cognitive Attributes)

  • 창업의도(Entrepreneurial intention)를 형성하는 데 영향을 주는 요인이 무엇인지 밝혀내는 것은 창업가를 양성하고 국가 내 기업가적 혁신이 활발히 일어나도록 유도하는 데 있어서 참고할 수 있는 중요한 일이다. 그동안의 연구들이 사회인지 속성을 예측인자로 활용해 창업의도 혹은 기업가적 활동에 직접적으로 미치는 영향을 주로 제시해왔지만, 이러한 사회인지 속성들이 무엇에서 비롯되는지 근본적 요인에 대해서는 기업가정신 분야에서 충분히 다뤄지지 않았다. 본 연구는 사회인지이론과 스키마이론을 기반으로 개인의 창업경험(Entrepreneurial experience)이 사회인지 속성을 형성하는 중요한 선행요인임을 가정하며, 경험이 창업의도를 어떻게 형성하는지에 대한 메커니즘을 밝힌다. 이를 위하여 기업가의 창업경험이 사회인지이론에서 창업의도를 형성하는 주요 변수로 꼽히는 기업가적 자기효능감(Entrepreneurial Self-efficacy), 기회인식(Opportunity recognition), 실패두려움(Fear of failure) 등에 미치는 영향을 분석하며, 이러한 요인이 어떻게 창업의도에 유의한 영향을 미치는지 분석한다. 이와 함께 창업 경험과 창업의도 사이에 이어지는 경로를 파악하기 위하여 이러한 사회인지속성이 어떤 매개 역할을 하는지를 분석한다. 또한 성별에 따라 생물학적 차이 뿐만 아니라 사회적 상호 작용의 결과로 나타나는 사회적 차이, 그리고 인지적 차이가 만들어지는 점을 고려, 성별에 따라 개인의 창업경험이 사회인지 속성 및 창업의도에 미치는 영향이 어떻게 조절되는지를 분석한다. Global Entrepreneurship Monitor(GEM)의 87개국의 25,047명 기업가 데이터에 기반한 계량 분석을 한 결과, 창업경험은 기업가적 자기효능감과 기회인식을 높이고, 실패두려움은 줄이는 것으로 나타났으며 이러한 사회인지속성은 창업경험과 창업의도의 관계를 유의하게 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 성별에 따른 조절효과도 유의해, 남성과 여성은 창업경험으로부터 창업의도가 형성되는 양상이 다르게 나타났다. 기업가 정신 분야의 선행연구에서 과거 경험의 역할은 중요하지만 충준히 다뤄지지 않았다. 이 연구는 구조방정식을 이용하여 창업경험의 매개효과 및 성별의 조절효과를 통해 창업의도 형성의 메커니즘을 구체적으로 밝혀냈다는 점에서 의의를 지닌다.
