Dynamic Instability Analysis of Euler Column under Impact Loading (충격하중을 받는 Euler기둥의 동적좌굴 해석)

  • An explicit direct time integration method based solution algorithm is presented to predict dynamic buckling response of Euler column. On the basis of large deflection beam theory, a plane frame finite element is formulated and implemented into the solution algorithm. The element formulation takes into account geometrical nonlinearity and overall buckling of steel structural frames. The solution algorithm employs the central difference method. Using the computer program developed by the author, dynamic instability behavior of Euler column under impact loading is investigated by considering the time variation of load, load magnitude, and load duration. The free vibration of Euler column caused by a short duration impact load is also studied. The validity and efficiency of the present formulation and solution algorithm are verified through illustrative numerical examples.

  • Developing an efficient knowledge base construction mechanism as an input method for expert systems (ES) development is of extreme importance due to the fact that an input process takes a lot of time and cost in constructing an ES. Most ES require experts to explicit their tacit knowledge into a form of explicit knowledge base with a full sentence. In addition, the explicit knowledge bases were composed of strict grammar and keywords. To overcome these limitations, this paper proposes a knowledge conceptualization and construction mechanism for automated knowledge acquisition, allowing an efficient decision. To this purpose, we extended traditional knowledge map (KM) construction process to dynamic knowledge map (DKM) and combined this algorithm with relational database (RDB). In the experiment section, we used medical data to show the efficiency of our proposed mechanism. Each rule in the DKM was characterized by the name of disease, clinical attributes and their treatments. Experimental results with various disease show that the proposed system is superior in terms of understanding and convenience of use.

  • This paper summarizes the components of an explicit aeroelastic solver developed especially for the simulation of dynamic fracture events occurring during the flight of solid propellant rockets. The numerical method combines an explicit Arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian (ALE) version of the Cohesive Volumetric Finite Element (CVFE) scheme, used to simulate the spontaneous motion of one or more cracks propagating dynamically through a domain with regressing boundaries, and an explicit unstructured finite volume Euler code to follow the flow field during the failure event. A key feature of the algorithm is the ability to adaptively repair and expand the fluid mesh to handle the large geometrical changes associated with grain deformation and crack motion.

  • In this study, deformation analysis for solid-liquid coupled structure has been performed using explicit finite element program In order to model the behavior of liquid, SPH (Smooth Particle Hydrodynamics) algorithm was adopted. Crash test and simulation for the hydro-type impact energy absorber were given as an example of industrial application. The obtained good correlation between the test results and simulation reveals that the proposed method could be used effectively for the structural analysis of solid-liquid coupled problems

  • For multiply Type-II censored samples from two-parameter Rayleigh distribution, the maximum likelihood method does not admit explicit solutions. In this case, we propose some explicit estimators of the location and scale parameters in the Rayleigh distribution by the approximate maximum likelihood methods. We compare the proposed estimators in the sense of the mean squared error for various censored samples.

  • In this paper we propose a model of HIv population through method of phases with non-Markovian evolution of immi-gration. The analysis leads to an explicit differnetial equations for the generating functions of the total population size. The detection process of antibodies (against the antigen of virus) is analysed and an explicit expression for the correlation functions are provided. A measure of bunching is also introduced for some particular choice of parameters.

  • In this paper, a new enhanced early fair rate allocation(EFRA+) algorithm is proposed for ATM switches supporting ABR service. The central issue of explicit rate control algorithms for ABR service is the computation of max-min fair rates for every connection. The EFRA+ inherits the main feature of the EFRA, uses the connection control information during the connection setup to prevent potential congestion in switches, and enhances the computation method of the max-min fair rate.

  • Robot task program is needed to control and manage a Robot without explicitly describing the robot program by user which includes commands, procedures, geometric and signal data in the detail level. To use the Robot task program, a computer system is required to convert the Robot task into the Robot program, which can be understood by the Robot. In this paper, the systemic method for automatic generation of explicit Robot programs (ERP) from task-level commands is described. Specifically, a 3-step procedure including Robot task decomposition, task synchronization and ERP generation is presented.

  • For fast Cholesky factorization, it is most important to reduce the number of nonzero elements by ordering methods. Generally, the minimum deficiency ordering produces less nonzero elements, but it is very slow. We propose an efficient implementation method. The minimum deficiency ordering requires much computations related to adjacent nodes. But, we reduce those computations by using indistinguishable nodes, the clique storage structures, and the explicit storage structures to compute deficiencies.
