This paper presents a quasi-three-dimensional calculation method considered a spanwise mixing effect in a diagonal flow impeller. The effect of this spanwise mixing caused by spanwise distribution of blade loading is evaluated by a secondary flow theory. In order to verify the validity of this method, it is applied to the analysis of a diagonal flow fan designed under a vortex type of constant circumferential velocity and that of a free vortex. The comparison of the calculated result with experimental data shows a good agreement except the regions near the casing where the flow field is affected by the tip leakage flow.

This study embody the investigation of the winner projects of Young Architecture Program(YAP) taken place annually at front yard of MoMA PS1 since 1998. Every installation of project is experimental exhibition that have ambiguous border in the area between lightness and architecture. Thus the design have less limits as architectural space and talents can express the innovative idea strong. This paper aims to probe annual significant key words by analyzing the contemporary representative space types, materials, fabrication methods and innovative ideas, and to identify the changes of important concept of lightness and recent trend in architect design concept.

This paper describes a low noise and high efficiency analog-digital switching mixed mode battery charger for production facilities of Li-Ion batteries. The requirements for battery chargers for production facilities are very strict. The accuracy of output voltage and output current should be below 0.1% with very low ripple current. Therefore analog type linear regulators are widely used for battery charger in spite of their inefficiency and bulkiness. We combined linear regulator as a voltage source with digital switching converter as a dependent current source. Low current ripple and high accuracy are obtained by linear regulator while high efficiency is achieved by digital switching converter. Experimental results show that proposed method has 0.1% ripple and 90% efficiency at an output current of 1A for a battery voltage of 4V.

The thermal and condensation performance of steel stud walls are monitored in steel-framed schools of Ee-Wol Elementary School and kindergarten using temperature and humidity sensors installed. The monitoring process carried out during the summer and winter period, shows decrement effect of the external heat flow to be quite remarkable and excellent. And steel stud walls provides a highly efficient time-lag effect in spite of its light weight property, with 30 minutes to 4 hours time-lag for external heat flow, which variation mainly depends on its location of each part of the wall. Any condensation phenomena are not observed in either external or internal surfaces.

The objective of this study is to investigate learning factors (stability, attention and activation) in school by electroencephalogram (theta, alpha and beta waves) analysis during relaxed or concentrated. In order to measure electroencephalograms, MP 150 by Biopac and ECI Electro-Cap are employed. Three types of color temperatures (3000K, 5000K, 7000K) are used and 13 undergraduate and 12 graduate students are selected as experimental subjects. When subjects are relaxed during contemplation or concentrated during mental arithmetic, we compare with stability, attention and activation indices. The test results show that subjects were stable when color temperature is 5000K. Subjects gave best attention when color temperature is 7000K. Subjects activated well when color temperature is 3000K during relaxed attention. However, subjects activated rigorous when color temperature is 7000K during constrained attention.

In this paper, the hybrid-type current controller for inverter TIG systems was implemented and it was shown that the low-current pulse wave forms with high dynamic performance could be obtained. It is not sri easy to obtain the optimum gain tuning of PID controllers in digital PWM control methods. Hybrid control methods which uses automatic tuning techniques after adding fuzzy control methods to traditional PID controllers are chosen to improve the dynamic performance of PID controller's. To demonstrate the practical significance and dynamic performance improvement of the results, some simulation and experimental results are presented.

As using of network Increases rapidly, performance of system has been deteriorating because of the overhead and bottleneck. Nowadays, high speed I/O network standard, that is a sort of InfiniBand, PCI Express and so on, has come out to improve the limites of traditional I/O bus. The InfiniBand provides some protocols to service the applications such as SDP, SRP and IPoIB. In our paper, We explain the architecture of SDP(Socket Direct Protocol) and its features in channel based I/O network. And so, we provide a result of performance evaluation of SDP which is compared with current network protocol. Our experimental results also show that SDP is better than TCP/IP protocol.

This paper describes a development of smart power outlet and controller installation which is equipped for discrete power load environment such as office and home appliance. This system will sense a real-time power consumption and analyze the status, then, will keep optimal power use condition. The proposed method is applied to the real design, and that experimental results showed good performances on the wall-outlet, also, is expected to be used in the smart home automation installations.

The most popular technique for image retrieval in a heterogeneous collection of color images is the comparison of images based on their color histogram. The color histogram describes the distribution of colors in the color space of a color image. In the most image retrieval systems, the color histogram is used to compute similarities between the query image and all the images in a database. But, small changes in the resolution, scaling, and illumination may cause important modifications of the color histogram, and so two color images may be considered to be very different from each other even though they have completely related semantics. A new method of color feature representation based on the 3-dimensional RGB color map is proposed to improve the defects of the color histogram. The proposed method is based on the three 2-dimensional projection map evaluated by projecting the RGB color space on the RG, GB, and BR surfaces. The experimental results reveal that the proposed is less sensitive to small changes in the scene and that achieve higher retrieval performances than the traditional color histogram.

A street light is an electrical equipment to improve the traffic safety and the security for people in night. However, many accidents due to electric shock have happened in recent, people were interested in the safety of electrical facilities. And people want to know the danger by touch and step voltages. When the electric power lines fall down on the ground, the fault current flows to ground rod and the potential near the ground rod is increased to induce the high touch and step voltages. In this paper, we installed different ground rods with a street light and investigated the electrical potential according to ground methods and the types of ground rod. Finally, we examined the electrical facilities with the experimental result and present the improved technical data for the safety from electric shock
