The purpose of this study was to examine the efficiency of senior welfare centers and the cause of differences among senior welfare centers in that regard, and to investigate influential factors for the differences in efficiency and the size of the influence of the factors. What methods would be effective at assessing the efficiency of senior welfare centers by taking into account their circumstances was reviewed, and post-hoc analyses were made by using data envelopment analysis(DEA) and Tobit analysis, which were useful tools to evaluate relative efficiency. After 24 senior welfare centers located in Seoul were selected, their yearly operating data of 2011 were utilized. In this study, we set limits to the medical welfare of the elderly welfare services business, and divided into model 2 including the elderly population in the region and model 1, input factors for only internal factors, such as full-time workers. We calculated a valid result by proceeding a BCC analysis and analysis of CCR respectively. As this study has some limitations, follow-up research should be implemented. Yet this study is of significance in that it attempted to present general norms for the efficiency analysis of senior welfare centers by using a DEA model and made various post-hoc analyses based on the efficiency data to give significant suggestions on the service of senior welfare centers.
Because the transport policy of Korea has overemphasized road, the physical distribution function of railroad has dwindled a great deal relatively. Recently, the railway has started to be embossed due to the rise of oil prices and environment problems, in addition the government is investing greatly in railroad. The railway corporation took a big step in its history in changing to a public corporation in 2005, and it has been making every possible endeavor to improve management. This research analyzed the trend and stability of the efficiency of railway container handling goods station in korea from 2002 to 2007 based on time of after being changed to a public corporation in 2005 in order to look into the trend of efficiency. The DEA- AR(Data Envelopment Analysis-Assurance Region) and the DEA-Window, widely used as the estimation techniques of the efficiency, were used. According to the results, the efficiency was a little enhanced in 2003 in comparison with 2002, after which it continuously decreased up to 2006 and again rose in 2007. The efficiency of the railway corporation was 0.6777, but after changing to a public corporation, it showed a trend of better efficiency after some transition period had passed.
In a buyer-seller transaction process, 'value for money,' a measure of quality-price-ratio, is one of the most important criteria for buyers' purchasing decisions. The purpose of this paper is to suggest a method which helps online shoppers choose the best of several sellers offering homogeneous goods. We suggest FDH (free disposal hull) model, an applied model of data envelopment analysis (DEA), for online buyer-seller transactions and verify it with the data from an Internet comparison shopping site. For this purpose, we analyze consumer choice behaviors by examining how consumers respond to different sale conditions such as price, brand, or delivery time. Then, we implement a seller recommendation system to support buyers' purchasing decisions. We expect our FDH model to provide valuable information for rational buyers who want to pay the least price for high quality products/services and to be used in implementing automated evaluation processes in micro transactions. Moreover, we expect that our results can be utilized for sellers' benchmarking strategies which help sellers be more competitive by showing them how to attract buyers.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the economic effectiveness of advanced enterprise welfare system utilizing DEA(Data Envelopment Analysis) and contribute to the adoption and implementation of the system conducted by Korea Workers' Compensation & Welfare Service(COMWEL). We classified 48 sample data into 3 categories : A category(basic consulting & intensive consulting, adoption) is 36, B category(basic consulting & intensive consulting, non-adoption) is 5, and C category(only basic consulting, adoption) is 7. A consulting fee is used as input variable, earning per employee and average employee tenure are used as output variables. As a result from DEA, we find out the fact that the economic effectiveness of A category is better than the economic effectiveness of B and C category and it comes to the conclusion that the consulting service provided by COMWEL has a positive effect on the adoption and implementation of advanced enterprise welfare system. Therefore, COMWEL is required to perform consulting service to small & medium business more actively and is needed to look at the reason why some businesses hesitate to accept the relevant system.
The Transport policies in Korea have been planned and implemented as a part of a larger economy policy based on the achievement of economic growth. As a result, previous transport policies have been focused mostly on the supply of transport infrastructure. The average annual economic growth of six percent and a twelve percent growth in motor vehicles until the late 90s led to the acceleration of the imbalance between the supply and demand of infrastructure. As such, there is a need to establish an innovative transportation policy in order to increase national competitiveness and provide momentum for national growth in the Twenty one century. This research has developed strategies and policies based on interviews that were carried out with specialists in transport field. Moreover, some transport policies have been established for the year 2020 through the conducting of a survey. The survey was conducted by interviewing respondents on making the priority of transport policies. which was then analyzed using the Data Envelopment Analysis with ranked voting data. The results are as follows. The most urgent matter was considered to be the development of a inter-modal transport system, followed by an integrated service system for public transport, and the need to increase the competitiveness of the transport and logistics industries and to further transport safety. Meanwhile, the provision of transportation for disabled people as well as the elderly was considered to be less important in Korea than in welfare nations. This stems from the belief as further attention needs to be paid to the construction of a public transport system, the establishment of transportation networks construction in preparation for reunification and the North-East Asian era, as well as the privatization of the transport infrastructure.

The Korean government is attempting to promote technology-based start-ups and venture firms that can lead to new national growth engines being developed. Although government support policies focus on improving survival rates, strategic tools for sustainability management based on a continuing company's assumption are also relevant. Previous studies indicate corporate social responsibility (CSR) as an important strategic tool for the management of corporate sustainability. This research is an exploratory study that seeks to empirically analyze the applicability of such CSR to venture firms. Existing previous studies have been carried out by large companies and surveys, and there are limitations that do not reflect the characteristics of companies. To complement the shortcomings of previous studies and propose practical consequences, this study conducted an empirical analysis using raw data from government approval statistics to identify the growth stages of venture firms. Using the 2018 Survey of Korea Venture Firms, we identified the growth stages of domestic venture firms and used the data envelopment analysis (DEA) to investigate the effect of CSR activities on managerial efficiency. The analysis found that CSR during start-up and early growth cycles did not affect managerial performance. The organization that conducted enthusiastic CSR activities performed better than those that did not perform CSR activities since the rapid growth era. Ultimately, the scale efficiency of venture business was the highest from the rapid growth era when the CSR was not done. This study is a pioneering study that found that after the period of high growth, venture firms' CSR activities can affect managerial performance. Therefore, it is important to advise applicable policies and business decision-makers that CSR practices can be a tactical resource for improving performance of management.

Despite the recovery of consumer expenditure and retailing in the Korean economy after 2001, the domestic apparel industry has been aggravated by negative growth in both productivity and production. The purpose of the stud? is to diagnose the develop competitive of the Korean apparel industry and derive implications for this after estimating the efficiency of the Korean apparel companies with Data Envelopment Analysis. Data Envelopment Analysis(DEA) is a methodology based in non-parametric analysis and linear programming. It was developed for measuring the relative efficiency of a set of firms that use inputs to produce outputs. Data used fer input and output variables in the analysis are drawn from financial statement recorded by the Korean Financial Supervisory Service. The initial input data comprise the number fo the employees, fixed assets, general management and selling expenses, and cost of sales. The initial outputs are the operating profit and the gross margin. To summary the results, the efficiencies of the Korean apparel companies has increased yearly in spite of being overabundance of investment in Labour and Capital. According to correlation between input and output variables, the Korean apparel industry has been revamping gradually from labor intensive industries to the capital. The companies need to reduce costs in the results from the number of employees, fixed asset and cost of sales to transform into an efficiently enterprise. The companies owning or obtaining a brand had bitter establish an outsourcing strategic in production, while OEM corporations are called far setting up a manufactory in domestic or abroad. Although the paper is derived some implications with production efficiencies, the relation between apparel companies and brand power, consumption level of consumer, and social trend is remained on a limitation to the study. The next research necessitates a topic with Fashion industry or examining the correlation between brand value, social propensity and profit margin.

During few decades, Korean economy has been growing with heavy and manufacturing industries. However, the economy meets limitations of growth rate, and employment rate. The Korean government has been trying to overcome these limitations using development of venture businesses and re-organization of industrial ecosystem. These efforts make high survival rate of recent venture companies. There are previous researches about relation between characteristics of entrepreneur and managerial performance, there are several limitations. Firstly, most of papers were based on survey with specific region or industry. Secondly, related researches were carried out with unable to distinguish among firm's survival periods. This paper uses the '2017 Survey of Korea Venture Firms' data that is approved by the Korean government. This data includes whole industries and survival periods. The aim of this research is finding the effect of characteristics of entrepreneur on managerial performance of venture firms by different survival periods using data envelopment analysis (DEA). If entrepreneur has doctoral degree, the firm's managerial performance is lower than bachelor degree. In addition, over 10 years of working career, and joint-venture have positive effect on firm's performance. This paper can provide valuable information to venture related policy makers and investment decision makers.
Reducing fishing capacity is one of hot issues in the world fisheries. Increased fishing capacity causes not only fish stocks to be depleted, but also additional fishing costs to be incurred, resulting in reductions of fishing profits. In order to achieve a sustainable and profitable development of fisheries, it is inevitable to reduce fishing capacity. For this reason, FAO adopted 'the International Plan of Action for the Management of Fishing Capacity' and recommended member countries to estimate fishing capacity and to implement the policy to reduce fishing capacity. This study is aimed at measuring fishing capacity of Large Purse Seines Fishery using a Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). The DEA result showed that the practical catch of large purse seine fishery in 2003 was 158,662 tons, but the capacity output for current input was 318,397 tons. The capacity utilization is about 50%, it is obvious the capacity did not utilize enough. The sensitivity analysis on DEA results indicated that the number of ships (including tonnage and horse power) should be scrapped by 50% or days fished should be reduced by 63% if the present catch remained. In addition, if the catch remains at the MSY base level of large purse seines, the analysis suggested that the number of ships (including tonnage and horse power) should be reduced by 30%, otherwise days fished should be reduced by 60%.
This study uses Data Envelopment Analysis(DEA) to investigate the management efficiency of Korean shipping companies based on business administration costs such as corporate entertainment, advertisement, and labor costs. We analyze shipping enterprises listed on the Korean stock market of the period of 2010-2014. Corporate entertainment, advertisement and labor costs are used as input variables and sales and net income are used as output variables. We use technical efficiency, pure technical efficiency, scale efficiency and returns to scale to propose a plan to improve the efficiency of inefficiency decision-making units (DMUs). The results of the efficiency analysis show that six of the DMUs in the technical efficiency of CCR model and eight of the DMUs in the pure technical efficiency of BCC model are in efficient state. In terms of return to scale, six of the DMUs(24% of all DMUs) show increasing returns to scale, while 13 DMUs(52% of all DMUs) showdecreasing returns to scale. Because multiple efficient state for DMUs exist in the technical efficiency analysis, we conduct a super efficiency analysis. The results show that the efficient state of the twomost efficient DMUs are 1.314 and 1.243, respectively. This implies that these DMUs could maintain their current levels of the efficiency if they increase the amount spent on advertisements, corporate entertainment and labor costs by 31.4% and 24.3%. respectively. We conclude this study by providing the efficiency states of each DMU and target for improving the inefficiencies in each case.
