  • Experimental were conducted to obtain information on the effect of airflow rates and bed depths on the resistance of coffee cherries and coffee beans available locally (Coffea Liberica). The airflow used were in the range of 0.06 to 0.6 cu. m/s-sq.m. The moisture content of the coffee cherries ranged from 10 % to 50% (wet basis) and that of coffee beans ranged from 12% to 30% )wet basis). Two methods of filling were used i.e. loose fill and packed fill. Pressure drops across the material bed in a vertical column were measured at several depths using inclined manometer. The pressure drop increased directly with air flow rate as well as bed depths. The effects of air flowrates and moisture contents on the resistance in terms of pressure drip per unit bed depth were analysed. The pressure drop per unit depth across the material bed varied slightly due to different depth. The resistance to airflow decreased with the increase in moisture content for loose fill. However, the effect of moisture content is not apparent for packed fill.

  • Mechanical characteristics of bottom ash produced in coal-fired power plant are investigated to utilize as light-weight fill materials. Triaxial compression test, water retention test, and unsaturated direct shear test were conducted for weathered soil (WS), reclaimed bottom ash (RBA), and screened bottom ash (BA). RBA had larger frictional angle and lower effective cohesion than those of WS. Water retention charactersitics of RBA and BA existed within distributions of soil-water characteristic curves for domestic weathered soils. Unsaturated shear strength of RBA was similar to that of WS at matric suctions of 50 kPa and 100 kPa. As a conclusion, bottom ash can be used as fill materials to replace the conventional construction materials by.

  • As a large construction such as highway, dam, reclaimed land etc. increase in number more and more, large amount of fill materials are required. It is needed to utilize a gypsum which is a by-product yielded from chemical plants, as fill materials. Though some studies have been conducted to know a engineering characteristic of gypsum, it is not certain that water contents were checked at $45^{\circ}C$ dry oven. This study proposed that water contents must be measured at $45^{\circ}C$ dry condition because gypsum is changed to other types as a dry temperature. As the results obtained by compaction tests, it is found that moisture of gypsum in compaction must be within -5.0~2.5 % O.M.C (optimal moisture content).

  • The settlement characteristics of refuse landfills are peculiar because considerable amount of settlement occurs due to the decomposition of refuse organic solids for very long period. The total amount of compression that occurs due to the decomposition in refuse landfill is mainly dependent on the amount of biodegradable refuse solids and fill Ige of the refuse landfill, and the settlement stabilization speed is dependent on the decomposition condition. In order to figure out the settlement characteristics of refuse landfills. a proposed mathematical model is applied to settlement data of refuse landfills with different fill ages. A data bank of model parameters was obtained and the trends were analyzed. The long-term settlement behavior of refuse landfills can be estimated fairly well by the proposed model. The total remaining amount of settlement may be predicted on the basis of the fill age and appropriate two design parameters.

  • As feature size is smaller, new technology are needed in semiconductor factory such as gap-fill technology for sub 100nm, development of ALD equipment for Cu barrier/seed, oxide trench etcher technology for 25 nm and beyond, development of high throughput Cu CMP equipment for 30nm and development of poly etcher for 25 nm and so on. We are focus on gap-fill technology for sub-30nm. There are many problems, which are leaning, over-hang, void, micro-pore, delaminate, thickness limitation, squeeze-in, squeeze-out and thinning phenomenon in sub-30 nm gap fill. New gap-fill processes, which are viscous oxide-SOD (spin on dielectric), O3-TEOS, NF3 Based HDP and Flowable oxide have been attempting to overcome these problems. Some groups investigated SOD process. Because gap-fill performance of SOD is best and process parameter is simple. Nevertheless these advantages, SOD processes have some problems. First, material cost is high. Second, density of SOD is too low. Therefore annealing and curing process certainly necessary to get hard density film. On the other hand, film density by Flowable oxide process is higher than film density by SOD process. Therefore, we are focus on Flowable oxide. In this work, dielectric film were deposited by PECVD with TSA(Trisilylamine - N(SiH3)3) and NH3. To get flow-ability, the effect of plasma treatment was investigated as function of O2 plasma power. QMS (quadruple mass spectrometry) and FTIR was used to analysis mechanism. Gap-filling performance and flow ability was confirmed by various patterns.

  • This study introduces strength characteristics of the anti-washout grouting material using viscous modifiers and its characteristics mixed with coarse materials. Especially, this study focused on the strength characteristics of the grouts mixed with sea water. It is found that the anti-washout grout mixed with sea water has enough strength and good resistance to segregation just like that with fresh water. Also, a small scale test was performed to evaluate the solidification characteristic of the anti-washout grout mixed with coarse fill materials. It is also found that the strength of anti-washout grout mixed with coarse fill materials is greater and better segregation resistance than those of conventional grout with fill materials.

  • This paper discusses to the capability improvement of the 1/4 HP compressor. And, for efficiency improvement of the single phase induction motor, this paper has proposed a casting method to improving the fill factor of the rotor of the single phase induction motor. First, by using FEM, it was analyzed the magnetic flux distribution and the fill factor to the SPIM rotor by the conventional method and the proposed method. And, based on the FEM analysis results, SPIMs are manufactured by the each casting process. Through experiments using dynamometer, they were compared and measured to their efficiencies. In addition, through experiments using Calorimeter, we have analyzed the refrigerating capacity of the compressor of which they were applied. Based on the results of the previous two experiments, they are to verify the validity of the proposed method.

  • This study is focused on the comparison of heat transfer performance of two thermosyphons having 60 straight and helical internal grooves. Distilled water has been used as working fluid. Liquid fill charge ratio defined by the ratio of working fluid volume to total internal volume of thermosyphon, the inclination angle and operating temperature were used as experimental parameters. The heat flux and heat transfer coefficient are estimated from experimental results. The conclusions of this study may be summarized as follows; Liquid fill charge ratio, inclination angle and geometric shape of grooves were very important factors for the operation of thermosyphon. The optimum liquid fill charge ratio for the best heat flux were $30\%$. The heat transfer performance of helically grooved tube was higher than that of straight grooved tube in low inclination angle (less than $30^{\circ}$), but the results were opposite in high inclination angle (more than $30^{\circ}$). As far as optimum inclination angle concerns, range of $25^{\circ}\~30^{\circ}$ for a helically grooved tube and about $40^{\circ}$ for a straight grooved tube are suggested angles for the best results.

  • The KOMPSAT program is carrying out successfully in spite of the short domestic space development history, but there are still many difficulties in Koreanization of most core parts. Because the development of core parts is essential to participate in the advanced nations in space based on the mid-long term national space program, KARI has carried out development of Fill/Drain valve for propellant/pressurant supply of satellite, which has high possibilities to be koreanized, with Hanwha Corp.. This paper summarizes overall processes of development including design, manufacturing and test, and finally 4 sets of modules were successfully made. Also the satisfaction of performance requirements are verified through acceptance tests.

  • Flowable fill is generally a mixture of sand, fly ash, a small amount of cement and water. Sand is the major component of most flowable fill with waste materials. Various materials, including two waste foundry sands(WFS), an anti-corrosive waste foundry sand and natural soil, were used as a fine aggregate in this study. Natural sea sand was used for comparison. The flow behavior, hardening characteristics, and ultimate strength behavior of flowable fill were investigated. The unconfined compression test necessary to sustain walkability as the fresh flowable fill hardens was determined and the strength at 28-days appeared to correlate well with the water-to-cement ratio. The strength parameters, like cohesion and internal friction angle, were determined for the samples prepared by different curing times. The creep test for settlement potential was conducted. The data presented show that by-product foundry sand, an anti-corrosive WFS, and natural soil can be successfully used in controlled low strength materials(CLSM), and it provides similar or better properties to that of CLSM containing natural sea sand.
