In this paper, proposed controller preventing compressor surge and reducing the acceleration time of the fuel flow control system for turbo-jet engine. Turbo-jet engine controller is designed by applying fuzzy PID control algorithm and high-gain observer. Observer is used to estimate to compressor rotation speed of turbo-jet engine. Result of fuzzy inference is used as the fuel flow control inputs for preventing compressor surge and flame-out in turbo-jet engine. The controller is designed to converge to the desired speed quickly and safely. Using MATLAB to perform computer simulations verified the performance of the proposed controller.

A liquid rocket engine system can cause rapid pressure and temperature variations during the startup period. Thus the startup analysis is required to reduce time and expense for successful development of liquid rocket engine through the startup prediction. In this study, a startup analysis simulator is developed for a staged combustion cycle engine powerpack. This simulator calculates propellant flow rates using pressure and flow rate balances. In addition, a rotational speed of turbopump is obtained as a function of time by mathematical modeling. A startup analysis result shows that the time to reach a steady-state and a rotational speed at the steady-state are 1.3 sec and 27,500 rpm, respectively. Moreover it can indicate proper startup sequences for stable operation.

An improvement of vehicle fuel economy is one of the most important topic in automotive engineering. Lots of engineers make efforts to achieve 1% of fuel economy improvement. Engine friction is an important factor influencing vehicle fuel economy. This paper focuses on effect of engine friction on vehicle fuel economy during warm-up. A computer simulation is one of the powerful tools in automotive engineering field. Recently Simulation is attempting to virtual experiment not using expensive instruments. It is possible to presuppose fuel economy by changing the characteristic of accessories using CRUISE(vehicle simulation software). In this paper, fuel consumption at each part of the vehicle is analyzed by both of experiment and simulation. The results of fuel economy analysis on experiment substitute for Cruise to calculate fuel economy. The simulation data such as engine speed, brake torque, shift pattern, vehicle speed, fuel consumption level is well correlated to experiment data. In this paper, the change of warm-up time, faster or slower, through simulation is performed. As a result of the fast warm-up, fuel economy is improved up to 1.7%.

A two-stroke diesel engine and a propeller normally adopted in large merchant ships are regarded as major ship vibration sources. They are directly connected and generate various excitation components proportional to the rotating speed of diesel engine. Among the components, the magnitude of two excitation components with the same frequency generated by both engine and propeller can be compensated by the adjustment of their phase difference. It can be done by the optimization of propeller assembly angle but requires a number of burdensome trials to find the optimal angle. In this paper, the efficient estimation method to determine optimal propeller assembly angle is proposed. Its application requires the axial vibration measurement in sea trial and the numerical vibration analysis for propulsion shafting which can be substituted by additional vibration measurement after one-trial modification of propeller assembly angle. In order to verify the validity of the proposed method, the phase difference between two fifth order excitation components generated by both diesel engine and propeller of a real ship is calculated by the finite element analysis and its result is indirectly validated by the comparison of axial vibration responses at intermediate shaft obtained by the numerical analysis and the measurement in sea trial. Finally, it is numerically confirmed that axial vibration response at intermediate shaft at a resonant speed can be decreased more than 87 % if the optimal propeller assembly angle determined by the proposed method is applied.
We performed an experimental research on lubricant oil in dual fuel medium-speed engines. It is important to select the appropriate lubricant oil because it could significantly affect engine lifetime and performance. We generally recommend the selection of the lubricant oil according to the fuel grades as contents in the project guide. However, it is a considerable challenge for shipyards to implement this concept because of the lack of space to install the complicated lubricating oil system for dual fuel engines. Therefore, we determine the adaptability of one-common lubricant oil for HiMSEN dual fuel engine through this experimental research. To check abnormality in gas mode operation and durability of engine components when a lubricating oil with high BN (base number) is used, overhaul inspections and lubricant oil analysis are carried out two times, and four times, respectively, during an operation of approximately 300 h. We investigated the variations in kinematic viscosity, base number, element quantity, pentane insoluble and sulfated ash in lubricant oil analysis. Moreover, we also investigated whether the deposit formation or wear occurred in various bearings, injectors, exhaust valves, intake valves, piston rings and so on through the overhaul inspections. There are no problems in the lubricant analysis and the overhaul inspections. Through the experimental research, we confirm that one-common lubricant oil should be selected according to the higher sulfur content of fuel oil in dual fuel engines.

Tree type of Rule Case will be processed by the method that provide practical Rule Case to Rule Engine that is made with procedural language beforehand, then the Rule Engine according to the condition of the special Rule Case to return result in current Rule-Based System. There are two disadvantages in the method; the first is according to specific business rule after construct the Rule Engine when the business rule changing the Rule Engine also must be changed. The second is when Rule have many conditions the Rule Engine will become very complex and the speed of processing Rule Case will become very slow. In this paper, we will propose a simplified algorithm that according to the theory of ID Tree to produce Rules which be used in Rule-Based System. The algorithm can not only produce Rules but also make sure of satisfying change of business rule by execute the algorithm. Because it is not necessary to make a Rule Engine, we will anticipate effect of increasing speed and reducing cost from Rule-Based System of applying the algorithm.

The aim of this study was to measure and analyze engine load factor (LF) according to working conditions (operation type and gear stage) of small agricultural multi-purpose cultivator to estimate the emission of air pollutants. To calculate LF, a torque sensor capable of collecting torque and rotational speed was installed on the engine output shaft and DAQ was used to collect data. A field test was conducted with major operation of a cultivator and tillage operations (plow tillage and rotary tillage). Engine power was calculated using engine torque and rotational speed and LF was calculated using real-time power and rated power. In addition, unified LF was calculated using the weight for each operation and the average LF for each operation. As a result, average LF values at 1.87 and 3.10 km/h by plow tillage were 0.50 and 0.69, respectively. Average LF values at 1.87 and 3.10 km/h by rotary tillage were 0.70 and 0.78, respectively. Furthermore, unified LF calculated in consideration of the weight factor showed a value of 0.65, which was 135% higher than the conventional LF (0.48). Results of this study could be used as basic information for realizing LF values in the field of agricultural machinery.
New valve driving system to control for the best volumetric efficiency at each load of an internal combustion engine within one engine cycle has been developed. The system needs to reduce pumping loss that cause by throttle valve during the intake valve is opened. In this system the intake valve is driven by a linear DC electromagnetic actuator which is controlled by personal computer. The result is compared both installed and uninstalled actuator into the cylinder head. By both of experimental and numerical calculation, the responsibility of the valve driving system to the engine speed was examined

The propulsion type of a small boats mainly were divided that the In-board and In out-board position located engine. The boats of the In-board and In out-board engine individually were propelled by propeller and stern drive. In this paper, 39feet-class leisure boats with propulsion type of In-board and In.out-board engine were performed to compare the effect of resistance performance using model test. As a result, leisure boat with In out-board engine is ascertained the optimum boat affects the speed and fuel efficiency.
Structural vibration analysis of the stationary power plant system employing a large two-stroke low speed diesel engine is performed to verify that the vibration characteristics of the system meet design requirements, The system consists of the diesel engine generator and concrete foundation including pile and soil. The system is modeled in the form of a mass-elastic system of 5 degrees of freedom for vibration analysis. Excitation moments and dynamic parameters including engine body stiffness soil stiffness and damping are identified for the analysis, Results of structural vibration analysis of the system are presented and compared with measurements in this paper.
