제어냉각 장치를 이용한 엔진피스톤 열간단조 공정에 관한 연구 (Hot Forging of an Engine Piston using Control Cooling)

  • The piston engine is an essential component in automobiles. Since the piston is used in a high temperature and high pressure environment, the piston needs to be manufactured to achieve high strength and high durability. In addition, cost reduction is also an important consideration. In conventional forging, an additional heat treatment after hot forging is necessary to ensure proper mechanical properties for heavy-duty engine pistons. The newly developed manufacturing method lowers production costs by saving manufacturing time and reduces energy consumption. The current paper describes the hot forging of an engine piston made from 38MnSiVS5 micro-alloyed steel using controlled cooling. The finite element analysis was used to check for possible problems and suitable press capacity. Hot forging experiments were then conducted on a 2500tons crank press to evaluate feasibility of the proposed material and process. To check the mechanical properties after hot forging, the forged specimens were tensile tested, and the microstructures were examined in order to compare the results with the conventionally forged material. The skirt region of the as-forged 38MnSiVS5 piston showed better material properties compared to the conventional material. In addition, the total production time was reduced by about 80% as compared to conventional forging.

연비 개선 및 CO2 저감을 위한 승용디젤 차량의 클러치타입 워터펌프 적용에 따른 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Clutch Type Water Pump of Diesel Passenger Vehicle for Reducing Fuel Consumption and CO2 Emission)

  • A typical cooling system of an engine relies on a water pump that circulates the coolant through the system. The pump is typically driven by the crankshaft through a mechanical link with engine starting. In order to reduce the friction and warm-up time of an engine, the clutch-type water pump (CWP) was applied in 2.0 liter diesel vehicle. The clutch-type water pump can force cooling water to supply into an engine by the operation of an electromagnetic clutch equipped as the inner part of pump system. The onset of CWP is decided by temperature of cooling water and engine oil. And, the control logic for an optimal operation of the clutch-type water pump was developed and applied in engine and vehicle tests. In this study, the warm-up time was measured with the conventional water pump and clutch-type water pump in engine tests. And the emission and the fuel consumption were evaluated under NEDC mode in vehicle tests. Also, tests were carried out for the various temperature conditions starting the operation of CWP. From the results of the study, the application of CWP can improve the fuel consumption and $CO_2$ reduction by about 3%.

  • Aerodynamic noise generated by automobile cooling fan is investigated. Automobile cooling fans radiate both discrete frequency noise as well as broadband noise. In the present work, the former is considered through free-wake panel method coupled with acoustic analogy fully considering the retarded time variation on the blade surface, while the latter is taken into account by three well-established broadband noise components. Experiments were performed to supplement necessary inputs as well as to provide the final comparison with the predicted noise spectrum. The predicted noise levels at blade passing frequencies agree well with the experimental data for the first few harmonics. Although the predicted broadband noise levels at higher frequencies fall below the experimental data due to the fundamental shortcomings of the utilized formulations, the analysis offers a detailed physical understanding of the fan noise generation processes.

  • 난류분무 연소해석을 위한 수치해석 코드가 개발되었다. 복잡한 형상을 다루기 위하여 일반좌표계에서 이산화되었고 낮은 마하수 유동에 대한 수렴성을 증가시키기 위하여 예조건화기법과 고유치 재규격화기법이 도입되었다. 코트의 정확성은 캐비티 유동과 평면노즐에서 검증되었다. 액체로켓 엔진의 막냉각효과가 분무연소해석에 의하여 분석되었다. 막냉각은 연소효율에 부정적인 영향을 보였다. 연소실 벽면에서 막냉각효과는 연료가 많은 지역형성에 증진됨을 보여주었다.

  • As vehicles are recently becoming more important in our life, the study for engine capacity has been conducted for many years. Specially, the study on lubrication in the engine is needed to develop engine capacity. The role of lubrication is to reduce fraction, manage the temperature and protect from corrosion etc. At the view point of the engine, lubrication and cooling of the engine have an effect on the life and efficiency, so we have to study this problem. Ball check valve is located in the inlet of the Oil Jet. Ball check valve is used to control the flow rate of the engine oil, which cools and lubricates the engine. Flow rate at the oil jet is very important, so the study for this problem is needed to conduct researches. The point of this study is to compute the flow rate and the flow in oil jet. The results of this study is that the mass flow rate is satisfied with the research which is obtained at the experiment.

가정용 열병합 시스템의 국내 도입에 따른 온실가스 저감효과 예측 (Impact of Residential CHP Systems on Greenhouse Gas Emissions in Korea)

  • The effects of applying the micro CHP system to the domestic sector in Korea were investigated using annual cooling and heating demand data. Four prime movers, micro gas turbine, PEMFC, gas engine and Stirling engine, were compared for three operational modes. Two way buy-back was assumed for both electricity and heat. The Stirling engine gave the lowest $CO_2$ emission per energy for 300kWh monthly electricity production. However, PEMFC became more effective when considering PURPA criteria. PEMFC generated the least greenhouse gas with higher electrical efficiency for cooling. The Stirling engine, however, became competitive for heating with higher total efficiency.

  • 고공모사시험설비의 구축에는 엔진과 설비의 특성, 로켓의 임무 그리고 시험의 경제적 측면 등에 대한 종합적인 이해를 가지고 최적의 기술적 결정을 하여야 한다. 본 논문에서는 상단 액체로켓엔진의 고공모사시험설비를 구축하고자 할 때 개념설계단계에서 요구되는 일반적인 조건 및 요구사항을 고찰하였고, 초음속 디퓨저와 냉각수 용량에 대한 예비적인 계산을 수행하였다.

  • Response surface method is employed in optimizing the acoustic performance of automotive engine-cooling axial fans. The effects of modifications in blade geometry on noise reduction are investigated. Taking the far-field noise level as the objective, a quadratic response surface is constructed utilizing D-Optimality condition as the candidate-points selection criteria. It is shown that the quadratic model exhibits an excellent fitting capability resulting in the blade design with low far-field noise level.

  • 화염유도로 냉각시스템은 발사체 엔진의 점화 시 발생하는 충격파를 감쇠하는 중요한 역할을 수행한다. 또한 이 시스템은 발사체의 구조와 페이로드를 손상시킬 수 있는 커다란 진동을 감소시키기도 한다. 나로우주센터의 발사대에 설치된 화염유도로 냉각시스템은 발사체 엔진의 화염에 직접 물을 분사시키도록 구축되었으며, 나로호의 비행시험 결과는 화염유도로를 냉각하는 관점에서 이 방법이 기능상 우수함을 보여 주었다.

  • 로켓엔진 연소기의 분사면 냉각성능을 개선하기 위한 연료 매니폴드의 최적형상을 제시하였다. 매니폴드의 형상은 분사균일성을 최대한 유지하면서 분사면 중심의 냉각성능을 높일 수 있어야 한다. 이를 위하여 7가지 후보 형상에 대하여 냉각성능을 비교한 결과 분사기 2-3열과 9-10열 사이에 분리판이 설치된 형상이 최적인 것으로 판단되었다. 분사균일성은 설계원형과 유사한 수준이며 분사면의 최고온도는 27$\%$ 감소하였다. 또한 매니폴드의 형상 변화에 의한 추가적인 압력강하는 거의 없을 것으로 예측되었다.
