The participants were 236 mothers and 15 teachers who were in charge of children, who were 5 years old in kindergartens or childcare facilities in Incheon Metropolitan City. The key research findings of this study were as follows: Firstly, the children's activity temperament exerted negative influence over their behavioral and emotional self-regulation ability. Secondly, it was found that an affectionate relationship between mother and child was proven to have some moderating effect, thus influencing the relationship between activity temperament and self-regulation ability in a child. Anyway, there was no moderating effect of the rejection in mother-child relationships on the relationship between activity temperament and self-regulation ability in a child. Thirdly, it was found that both intimacy and conflict in teacher-child relationships had no moderating effects when it came to the relationship between activity temperament and self-regulation ability in young children.

This research was based on a Q-Methodological approach. According to the results of this study, there were four categories of mothers' opinion about the massage intervention. The first type accepts the wholistic effect of massage intervention very positively that it improves infant's health in various aspects: prevention of diseases, promotion of the growth, settlement of sentiments, etc. The second type describes the effect of the intervention in the emotional aspect, such that the intimacy plays a very significant role in the intervention. The third type explains the complementary effect of the intervention that it eases symptoms rather than actually cures diseases. The fourth type emphasizes the healing effect of the intervention that it is required to go through professional training to utilize the effect. For example, a Kyongrak massage is very effective for curing diseases. In consideration of various types of massage intervention, it is very necessary to have a specialty for the massage intervention and develop unique mothers education programs depending upon different applications of the massage intervention in order to reorganize and activate the massage intervention as a nursing intervention for infant and toddlers.

In terms of conflict, intimacy, support offers, support benefits, and support obligations for adult children based on the Konstanz model, the type of relationships with the father included "an intimate exchange," "conflictual distance," "a conflictual sense of duty," and "a flexible exchange." The type of relationships with the mother included "an intimate exchange," "conflictual distance," "separate distance," and "a conflictual offer." There were no distinct characteristics of relationship types based on exchange theory. However, there were differences in characteristics of relation types based on the Konstanz model by gender. These results have important implications with respect to the Western model.

  • Objective: This study examined the influence of maternal attachment on adjustment in adolescence and investigated whether paternal attachment had any moderating effects on the relationship between maternal attachment and adjustment in adolescence. Methods: The participants of this study were 300 second graders from two middle schools in Seoul. We measured paternal and maternal attachment as perceived by the participants, adjustment in adolescence through school life adjustment, depression, and relational aggression. The study applied correlation analysis and hierarchical regression analysis suggested by Baron and Kenny (1986). Results: First, participants with high parental attachment showed high levels of school life adjustment, low level of depression, and low levels of relational aggression, demonstrating healthy psycho-social adjustment in adolescence. Second, paternal attachment played a facilitating role in the process of high maternal attachment's positive influence on school life adjustment. Third, paternal attachment mitigated the process of low maternal attachment's negative influence on depression. Conclusion: Our findings highlight the importance of emotional communication, support, and intimacy between parents and children in middle school. Furthermore, it emphasized the importance of the paternal role and involvement in the mother-child relationship.
