Modeling of High-speed 3-Disional Embedded Inductors (고속 3차원 매립 인덕터에 대한 모델링)

  • As microeletronics technology continues to progress, there is also a continuous demand on highly integration and miniaturization of systems. For example, it is desirable to package several integrated circuits together in multilayer structure, such as multichip modules, to achieve higher levels of compactness and higher performance. Passive components (i.e., capacitors, resistors, and inductors) are very important for many MCM applications. In addition, the low-temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) process has considerable potential for embedding passive components in a small area at a low cost. In this paper, we investigate a method of statistically modeling integrated passive devices from just a small number of test structures. A set of LTCC inductors is fabricated and their scattering parameters (5-parameters) are measured for a range of frequencies from 50MHz to 5GHz. An accurate model for each test structure is obtained by using a building block based modeling methodology and circuit parameter optimization using the HSPICE circuit simulator.

Recent Trends in Development of Ag Nanowire-based Transparent Electrodes for Flexible·Stretchable Electronics (유연·신축성 전자 소자 개발을 위한 은 나노와이어 기반 투명전극 기술)

  • Recently, advances in nano-material researches have opened the door for various transparent conductive materials, which include carbon nanotube, graphene, Ag and Cu nanowire, and printable metal grids. Among them, Ag nanowires are particularly interesting to synthesize because bulk Ag exhibits the highest electrical conductivity among all metals. Here we reviewed recently-published research works introducing various devices from organic light emitting diode to tactile sensing devices, all of which are employing AgNW for a conducting material. They proposed methods to enhance the stretchability and reversibility of the transparent electrodes, and apply them to make various flexible and stretchable electronics. It is expected that Ag nanowires are applicable to a wide range of high-performance, low-cost, stretchable electronic devices.

  • Real-time image processing algorithms to detect position and orientation of rectangular type electronic components are developed. The position detection algorithm is implemented with the use of projection method which is insensitive to noise. Also dynamic thresholding method of projection is employed in order to distinguish between the boundary of a component and any marking on the component. The orientation is determined by Hough transform of boundary candidates of a component, which is obtained a priori by a simple edge detection method. For real-time processing of both position and orientation for a component which is not aligned well, parallel processing method of image data is proposed and tested in real-time.

  • Nowadays, the study on the ceramic components and modules using LTCC is being peformed and on the passives included in modules is being done also. Especillay frequency dependent components like capacitor and inductor are studied by many groups, but the behavior of embedded resistor in MCM-C module are not studied vigorously. The characteristics of embedded resistor in modules is different from that of resistor alone. In our research, behavior of embedded resistor is examined in the variation of position and geometrical parameters.

  • With the advances on wireless internet technology, many research on minimization of wireless LAN is on the progress. To apply passive components in MCM, characteristic analysis of passive components is essential. In this paper, three square spiral inductors were modeled by HSPICE using PEEC (Partial Element Equivalent Circuit) method. Afterwards, Monte-Carlo analysis was performed to evaluate the optimized parameters. This work will give an idea on PEEC modeling of spiral inductor, and enable researchers with predictive data before large scale manufacturing.

  • Nowadays, the study on the ceramic components and modules that used in telecommunication system is being performed. The technology that co-fired both a ceramic material and a silver conductor is usually used to develop small telecommunication components and modules. In the study, It is that the lumped elements equivalent circuit with easy tuning control can be matched more accurate at the 50ohm than the transmission line.

  • Nowadays, the study on the ceramic components and modules used in telecommunication system is being performed. Duplexer is the one of the most important components and has the role of dividing Rx and Tx signal. Duplexer including the FBAR is being done vigorously LTCC is used for package like SAW package, duplexer package. In our research, LTCC material is used for FBAR duplexer package and photo-lithography for the fine line phase shifter. The good characteristics, low loss and good isolation, of duplexer is obtained by the fine line phase shifter having high characteristic impedance of stripline.

Characteristics Leakage Current of Surface Discharge according to Kaolin Contamination by Deteriorated Polymer Insulators (열화된 고분자애자의 카올린 오손에따른 표면방전특성)

  • The paper presents the results of using the fundamental and the low frequency harmonic components of leakage current to study aging of EPDM insulator for contaminated condition by kaolin. The largeer the leakage current during 200ms, the higher harmonic component at 60hz. The harmonic component at 60hz and the odd order harmonics is increase relation without Kaolin Conent. Arcing on the surface was always associated with distortion in the leakage current; hence the low frequency components of the leakage currnent can be used as a means to evaluate the surface degration. Both the fundamental and 3rd & 5th harmonics increase dry-band activity.

  • In this study, decay time and frquency response characteristics of Self-Integrating Magnetic Sensor were investigated, decay time is 4.4[ms], frequency band that could be measuring is from 40[Hz] to 1[kHz]. The magnetic field components produced by operation of electric machines is measured and analyzed.
