  • This study reviews several innovative electronic reference services that will be transformed in the age of the virtual library. This study focused on reference service via E-mail and electronic bulletin board which is regarded as the most important service in a variety of electronic reference services. Through E-mail and the electronic bulletin board, the user submits questions and the librarian responds with the answer. Though interest in using E-mail and electronic bulletin board as a basis for reference service has grown considerably in recent years, it is still in its infancy in Korea. Thus the purpose of this study is to propose a model electronic reference service system using E-mail and the electronic bulletin board for university libraries in Korea. This system consists of the following modules: electronic reference services policy, open reference service via electronic bulletin board, closed reference service via E-mail, and FAQ. This system is meant to be a guide for those considering implementing such a service.

  • Electronic reference service was defined as reference service designed for remote users and identified by a specific link from a library' website. This study examined whether academic libraries deliver web-based electronic reference services to remote users. Particularly, four types of electronic bulletin board services, free bulletin board, FAQ, Q&A and reference question-response service were measured in terms of 8 types of questions and 12 contents of questions. The result showed that there was few differences among 4 services. Guidelines for effective use of electronic bulletin board services in academic libraries were suggested: standardization of service names, easy access to menu services, definition of each menu, search function for contents and standard web forms.

  • Electronic bulletin boards, has been used as an effective tool in various information delivery. However, many electronic bulletin board as a one-way information passed by the interactivity is lacking. In this paper, the interaction of the information, while maintaining an electronic bulletin board that can be operated on a variety of platforms, the Android-based software and hardware for the design and implementation. The interaction of users of electronic bulletin boards, and information can be naturally-type content support Android framework was designed to allow Android APP. Android APP using the administrator also was designed automatic installation and FORUMS so that you can run. Naturally gather information, and all the people that interact through bulletin boards, so you can take advantage.

  • Various electronic bulletin board systems (BBS) exist on the Internet. A user has to use two or more BBS. Because his/her interests may not be restricted to only one subject and BBS satisfying his/her interests may not be restricted to only one also. Furthermore, in each BBS, two or more subjects are parallel discussed while the newest contribution is always carried out. Therefore, when a user tries to keep on perusing about a specific subject, it is necessary for the user to remember in which BBS the subject exists and in the past what article of the subject was read. In this paper, we are aiming to construct an electronic bulletin board integrated management system. In this system, a user is able to use two or more BBS just like one BBS. In this paper, we present a framework of the electronic bulletin board integrated management system and implementation of a prototype system.

  • The software which is used for electronic bulletin boards have shortcomings that the addition of new function and new information's type to the order point software is very difficult, and the aggressive adaption of newly introduced type of media is impossible because the software is developed by custom solution. Eventually new cost and time are required to enhance functionality or performance to software of DID(Digital Information Display). In this paper, we proposed the scheme to package DID's contents and to customize it using plug-in method. We conducted a case study of this scheme. The platform which can install Apps to DID as one of content was designed. Apps can be inserted by plug-in type on DID platform and run separately with DID framework. As a result, We got advantage that various contents, functions and Apps which are drived on Android can be displayed without any restriction and dependency because Apps itself is one of dynamic notice object. This solution increase reusability of Apps or contents, and can be used easily in various places such as airports, stations, terminals, and front desk by customizing.

  • The information delivery and transmission media(DID or PID) market is making remarkable growth as the high-speed networks are spreading and LCD/LED TVs are more and more popularized, and display devices are increasingly large and high-definition. In addition, the popularization of smart devices and the expansion of the information delivery and transmission media market make a demand for N-Screen in content service. Colleges and universities have installed and operated various types of DID to promote their schools and departments and deliver information about them, still remaining in the level of media content implementation. So, we implement and evaluate a next-generation electronic bulletin board for each department that allows for interactive N-Screen communication based on the integration of smart phone and internet. This board enhanced efficiency as supporting N-Screen, inserting and deleting the contents at real time and offering bidirectional communication.

  • The initial thermal analysis needs to be fast and efficient to reduce the feedback time for the optimal electronic equipment designing. In this study, a thermal model is developed by using power consumption measurement values of each functional breadboard, that is, semi-empirical power dissipation method. In modeling heat dissipated EEE parts, power dissipation is imposed evenly on the EEE part footprint area which is projected to the printed circuit board, and is called surface heat model. The application of these methods is performed in the development of a command and telemetry unit (CTU) for a geostationary satellite. Finally, the thermal cycling test is performed to verify the applied thermal analysis methods.

  • Educators have recognized the usefulness of the e-BBS(electronic-Bulletin Board System) as an asynchronous communication medium for collaborative learning. However, theoretical outcomes to understand the structural analysis of thc e-BBS are not adequate enough. As a consequence, we are left with inadequate supportive tools to understand complex communication phenomena and to assist teachers to guide students to educational purposes. This can cause teachers to have a laissez-faire approach using BBS as a communication medium for education due to the lack of understanding the structural and overall situation. To address this issue, this paper presents a theoretical foundation to help understand the structure of discussion activities via the e-BBS and then presents a computational model, based on the structural analysis, for the behavioral analysis of participants. The formal representation of bi-directional discussion activities is realized by devising two graphs - the reply graph and the connection graph. Various measurements and statistics for the analysis are presented in the paper. To clarify the analysis, we classify the results produced through the analysis of discussion activities and participants' behaviors.

  • Electronic paper resources management becomes an important alternative to overcome the inefficiency of various dysfunctions and pathologies dependent upon bureaucratic paperworks and to enhance organizational competitiveness. Korean government and enterprises have less recognized the importance of electronic document management and ignored the merits of introducing information technology into organizations. By means of document and paper exchange, decision making and signature, mail and bulletin board systems, information disclosure and sharing using electronic technology, however, electronic document management system can enhance organizational performance on a considerable degree. In this sense, it is necessary to introduce the system as soon as possible. Several measures are required : revising related laws and regulations, reforming the sense and behavior of personnel, establishing technological basis of the system, standardizing word processors and document formats.
