A Study on Crane Wire Rope Flaws Signal Processing Using Discrete Wavelet Transform (Wavelet 변환을 이용한 크레인 와이어 로프 결함 신호처리에 관한 연구)

  • Wire ropes are used in a myriad of various industrial applications such as elevator, mine hoist, construction machinery, lift, and suspension bridge. Especially, wire rope of crane is important component to container transfer. If it happens wire rope failures in operating, it may lead to safety accident, economic power loss by productivity decline, competitive power decline of container terminal and so on. To solve this problem, we developed wire rope fault detecting system as a portable instrument, and this system is consisted of 3 parts that fault detecting part using hall sensor, permanent magnets and analog unit, and digital signal processing part using data acquisition card, monitoring part using wavelet transform, denoising method. In this paper, a wire rope is scanned by this system after makes several broken parts on the surface of wire rope artificially. All detected signal has external noise or disturbance according to circumstances. So, we applied to discrete wavelet transform to extract a signal from noisy data that was used filter. In practical applications of denoising, it is shown that wavelet pursue it with little information loss and smooth signal display. It is verified that the detecting system by denoising has good efficiency for inspecting faults of wire ropes in service. As a result, by developing this system, container terminal could reduce expense because of extension of wire ropes exchange period and could competitive power. Also, this system is possible to apply in several fields like that elevator, lift and so on.

Double layered Superconductor Wire using Electrophoresis (전기영동법을 이용한 2층 구조 초전도선재 제작)

  • In this paper, for the study on the fabrication of YBCO superconductor wire, a double layered YBCO superconductor wire was fabricated by electrophoretic method on metal Ag wire(${\Psi}$0.8 mm). On the basis of previous researches for the fabrication of superconductor wire, the acetone suspension solution with 8 vol.% of 1% PEG(1000) was used and high molecular adhesive was experimentally performed for an improvement of the critical current density of superconductor wire. It was found that the Ag inter-layer deposited on the superconductor wire affect to the state of second YBCO film and its critical current density.

  • This paper describes the design of high power transistor packages using high power chip transistor dies, chip capacitors and a new wire bonding technique. Input impedance variation and output power performances according to wire inductance and resistance for internal matching are also discussed. A multi crossing type(MCT) wire bonding technique is proposed to replace the conventional stepping stone type(SST) wire bonding technique, and eventually to improve the output power performances of high power transistor packages. Using the proposed MCT wire bonding technique, it is possible to design high power transistor packages with highly improved output power compared to SST even the package size is kept to be the same.

  • This paper studies the validity about a joint operation of neutral wire and overhead grounding wire in combined distribution systems. The overhead grounding wire and neutral wire are currently installed separately and grounded by common. However there is no any ineffectiveness or electrical problem in case of the proposed system, such system can be operated at real distribution system. Therefore this paper describes the suitability of a joint operation through lightning surge analysis on combined distribution systems. Lightning surge analysis is carried out by EMTP/ATPDraw to obtain the overvoltage of overhead line and underground cable in various conditions such as locations and current types of lightning stroke. Overvoltage gained by the analysis show that the insulation strength of the joint operation case is not stable compare with the current operation case.

  • Surface corona discharge characteristics of a ac corona charged ferroelectric pellet barrier have been investigated experimentally. Electric charged stored on the surfaces of the ferroelectric pellets by a at corona discharge provide partial electric fields on the surfaces of the ferroelectric pellets, which could generate surface corona discharges on the ferroelectric pellets. This system utilizes both the surface discharges on the ferroelectric pellet barrier and the corona discharge between wire electrodes. As a result, in the case of the corona discharge with the ferroelectric pellet barrier, the mean corona current and ozone generation increase greatly, and the surface discharges on the ferroelectric pellets can be generated efficiently. It is also found that, the ferroelectric pellet barrier discharge reactor had better discharge characteristics for plasma generation than the wire-to-wire discharge reactor without pellets.

  • In total electric fire in Korea in 2006, a rate of the electric fire caused of short in electric wire is over 63.2[%]. It is needed to study a fire potentiality in electric wire. This paper studies contact and fire potentiality between a electric wire and conductors existed around the electric wire. As amplitude of current in electric wire is bigger, as it has higher possibility to contact between a electric wire and conductors existed around the electric wire. In case of temperature of wire is over combustion point of outer sheath, it is appeared to spark discharge between wire and conductors. So the fire potentiality raise up.

  • This paper presents deposition and characterizations of microcrystalline silicon(${\mu}$c-Si:H) films prepared by hot wire chemical vapor deposition at substrate temperature below 300$^{\circ}C$. The SiH$_4$ concentration[F(SiH$_4$)/F(SiH$_4$).+(H$_2$)] is critical parameter for the formation of Si films with microcrystalline phase. At 6% of silane concentration, deposited intrinsic ${\mu}$c-Si:H films shows sufficiently low dark conductivity and high photo sensitivity for solar cell applications. P-type ${\mu}$c-S:H films deposited by Hot-Wire CVD also shows good electrical properties by varying the rate of B$_2$H$\_$6/ to SiH$_4$ gas. The solar cells with structure of Al/nip ${\mu}$c-Si:H/TCO/g1ass was fabricated with single chamber Hot-Wire CVD. About 3% solar efficiency was obtained and applicability of HWCVD for thin film solar cells was proven in this research.

  • In the three-phase four-wire low-voltage power distribution equipment, single-phase and three-phase load have been used mainly mixed. Also linear and nonlinear loads have been used together in the same conditions. In a three-phase four-wire distribution line, the current distribution of three-phase linear load is almost constant in each phase during driving or stopping, but the single-phase load is different from each other for each phase in accordance with the operation and stop. So that the voltage unbalance is caused by the current difference of each phase. In the three-phase four-wire distribution system, non-linear load is used with linear load. The presence of single-phase nonlinear loads can produce an increase in harmonic currents in three-phase and neutral line. It can also cause voltage unbalance. In the present study, we analyzed for the voltage unbalance fluctuations by the operation pattern of the single and three-phase linear and non-linear load in three-phase four-wire low voltage distribution system.

  • In these days, Korea Railway apply simple catenary system to general lines and high speed lines of Korea Electric Railway. Circulation Current in catenary system frequently bring undesirable consequences. Namely, the Connector wire has many problems according to a flow of excessive circulation (or traction current) and a sudden rise of temperature on catenary when electric car or locomotive is running in high speed. The occurrence of events by the load increasement do considerable damages to peoples, organizations and systems. On a case by case accidents, the reeltype protective cover as part of various methods has some problems. In this project, we proposed the improved changes on the catenary system of a improvement and change of a messenger wire protector, improvement of connector wire's institution angle and of a replacement the connector wire with a dropper. Its tridimensional space limitation dictated the scale of the $32{\times}{\Phi}55$ to be as small as possible. It is easier to install than work by the existing cover on the messenger wire.

  • Electrical discharge machining (EDM) cuts metal by discharging electric current across a thin gap between tool and workpiece. Electrical discharge wire cutting, a special form of EDM, uses a continuously moving conductive wire as an electrode, and is widely used for the manufacture of punches, dies and stripper plates. In the wire cutting process, the moving wire is usually supported by cantilever arm and wire guides. As the wire traveling speed has been increased in recent years to improve productivity, the vibration of the cantilever arm occurs, which reduces the positional accuracy of the machine. Therefore, the design and manufacture of the cantilever arm with high dynamic characteristics have become important as the machining speed increases. In this paper, the cantilever arm for guiding the moving wire was designed and manufactured using carbon fiber epoxy composite in order to improve the static and dynamic characteristics. Specimens for the composite cantilever arm were manufactured and tested to investigate the effect of the number of reinforcing plies and length fitted to steel flange on the load capacity. Also, the finite element analysis using layer and contact elements was performed to compare the calculated results with the experimental ones. From the results, the prototype of the composite cantilever arm for the electrical discharge wire cutting machine was manufactured and the static and dynamic characteristics were compared with those of the conventional steel cantilever arm.
