  • The electrosorption of U(VI) from waste water was carried out by using activated carbon fiber(ACF) felt electrode in a continuous electrosorption cell. In order to enhance the electrosorption capacity at lower potential, ACF felt was chemically modified in acidic, basic and neutral solution. Pore structure and functional groups of chemically modified ACF were examined, and the effect of treatment conditions was studied for the adsorption of U(VI). Specific surface area of all ACFs decreases by this treatment. The amount of acidic functional groups decreases with basic and neutral salt treatment, while the amount increases a lot with acidic treatment. The electrosorption capacity of U(VI) decreases on using the acid treated electrode due to the shielding effect of acidic functional groups. Base treated electrode enhances the capacity due to the reduction of acidic functional groups. The electrosorption amount of U(VI) on the base treated electrode at -0.3 V corresponds to that of ACF electrode at -0.9 V. Such a good adsorption capacity was not only due to the reduction of shielding effect but also the increase of $OH^-$ in the electric double layer on ACF surface by the application of negative potential.

  • The battery capacity of electric/hybrid vehicle is much larger than present automobile. For that reason, the connector of Green Car should be designed to transmit the high-electric voltage. In addition, the electromagnetic wave should be shielded to protect communication and signal circuits. In this study, shielding performance of the connector was analyzed through electromagnetic shield analysis, and a connector of Green Car was designed using thermoelectrical analysis, which is capable of transmitting the high-electric power. In the design of connector structure, the improved stability and workability was considered.

  • In this paper, we propose the method to eliminate EMI (Electro-Magnetic Interference) in ELF (Extremely Low Frequency) band below 2 KHz for extending the gesture-recognition distance of smart TVs to more than 3m using electric potential sensor. First, we measure the electric field generated from the back panel of a TV and propose the effective arrangement of two sets of differential sensors as well as the shielding method using metal fiber. Also, we eliminate the PLN (Power Line Noise) and other noise generated from the TV and sensors as well as surrounding environments using filters. Using the proposed EMI eliminating methods, we evaluate displacement ratio on measured signals according to distance between sensors and a moving hand. Experiment results show that our proposed method can extend the hand-gesture sensing distance using EPS (Electric Potential Sensor) up to more than 3m, which is enough to satisfy applicability of EPS based remote control to Smart TVs.

  • In this paper, the conventional 2 dimensional metamaterial structure has degeneration of shielding characteristic in cross polarization effect. The proposed 3-D resonator is designed for reduction of cross polarization effect. The proposed 3-D resonator using LTCC consists of 2-D parallel resonators on X-axis, Y-axis and Z-axis. The 2-D parallel resonator consists of two plate and one via. When the co-polarization electric filed is excited, the resonance frequency of 3-D resonator is 5.024GHz. The stop bandwidth is 19MHz. When the cross-polarization electric field is excited, the resonance frequency of 3-D resonator is 4.825GHz. The stop bandwidth is 19MHz. The proposed 3-D resonator achieve reduction of cross-polarization effect. The concrete consists of proposed 3-D resonator and absorbtion materials. The concrete will be applied for reduction or interference signal of ETCS(Electric Toll collection system).

  • To accurately calculate the heating distribution of the fast reactor, a neutron-photon library in MATXS format named Knight-B7.1-1968n × 94γ was processed based on the ENDF/B-VII.1 library for ultrafine groups. The neutron cross-section processing code MGGC2.0 was used to generate few-group neutron cross sections in ISOTXS format. Additionally, the self-developed photon cross-section processing code NGAMMA was utilized to generate photon libraries for neutron-photon coupled heating calculations, including photo-atom cross sections for the ISOTXS format, prompt photon production cross sections, and kinetic energy release in materials (KERMA) factors for neutrons and photons, and the self-shielding effect from the capture and fission cross sections of neutron to photon have been taken into account when the photon source generated by neutron is calculated. The interface code GSORCAL was developed to generate the photon source distribution and interface with the DIF3D code to calculate the neutron-photon coupling heating distribution of the fast reactor core. The neutron-photon coupled heating calculation route was verified using the ZPPR-9 benchmark and the RBEC-M benchmark, and the results of the coupled heating calculations were analyzed in comparison with those obtained from the Monte Carlo code MCNP. The calculations show that the library was accurately processed, and the results of the fast reactor neutron-photon coupled heating calculations agree well with those obtained from MCNP.

  • Onset voltage plays a crucial role in the design of a spray microthruster. This paper presents an analytical electrostatic model to predict the behavior of onset voltage in an array of emitters. The basic idea of this method is to superimpose the electric potentials obtained from each individual emitter in an array of emitters. The results show that if one emitter operates and the other neighboring emitters are dry, the potential required for cone-jet spraying generally increases as the emitter spacing decreases (due to electrical shielding). However at very close spacing the potential can decrease. If all emitters operate at the same time, the phenomenon that even at very close spacing the onset voltage required for cone-jet spraying increases merely as the emitter spacing decreases.

  • In this letter, we propose and analyze a new asymmetric structure that can be used for next-generation power semiconductor devices. We compare and analyze the electrical characteristics of the proposed device with respect to those of symmetric devices. The proposed device has a p-emitter on the right side of the cell. The peak electric field is reduced by the shielding effect caused by the p-emitter structure. Consequently, the breakdown voltage is increased. The proposed asymmetric structure has an approximately 100% higher Baliga's figure of merit (~94.22 MW/㎠) than the symmetric structure (~46.93 MW/㎠), and the breakdown voltage of the device increases by approximately 70%.

  • Magnesium sheet used in electrical device due to mobility and EMF shielding characteristics. Magnesium case by press forming was advantageous compare with conventional die casting process, because of its thin gauge of wall and surface quality. But it need to makes the boss to fix inner part or assemble the case. CD stud welding was effective way for joining the boss to the thin gauge case of the electrical devices. In this study, we investigated the performances of the magnesium boss welder To measure the process parameters such as the force and the weld current, we design the monitoring system for CD stud welding. We test the characteristics of CD stud welding for AZ31 sheets at some variables. Finally we select the optimum welding range of magnesium sheets in CD stud welding process.

  • In this ppaer, the confguration of multi-layers of the image planes surrounding the current trace of inite width has been considered, and the shielding performance of image planes is analyzed with the parameters of the width and conductivity of the planes, and the distance between the current trace and the planes. The induced current distributions on the image planes have bgeen calculated by solving a set of electric field integral equations by the method of moments. To cacluate the current distribution on the planes effectively, a new method for dividing integral intervals is proposed.

  • Polyaniline free standing films cast from N-methyl-2-pyrrolidinone(NMP) solution, camphorsulfonic acid(HCSA), dodecylbenzensulfonic acid(HDBSA), inorganic matter(carbon black, graphite) and metal(silver) were prepared by processings. The properties of these films such as crystallinity, near-infrared absorption spectra and conductivity were investigated. The HCSA and HDBSA doped polyaniline films cast from m-cresol and chloroform solvents showed the metallic property and high crystallinity, respectively. The value of conductivity in the HCSA doped polyaniline film obtained 180 S/cm. We have obtained the value of conductivity 200 S/cm in the metal(silver) doped polyaniline film, which is higher than that of the HCSA doped polyaniline film. The metal(silver) doped polyaniline film shows good properties as a electromagnetic shielding material.
