  • This study developed and validated a 'Parent-child Lexical Interaction Scale for Preschoolers (PLIS-P)'. First, we developed the preliminary scale with 7 factors after reviewing previous literature related to vocabulary and literacy instruction for young children and reflected on feedback from child studies experts and mothers with young children. Subsequently, to validate the scale, the online survey was conducted on mothers with 5-to 6-year-old children who live in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Incheon, Gyeongsang, Chungcheong, Jeolla, Gangwon, and Jeju. Responses from 309 mothers were used to conduct exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis and correlation analysis. The results were as follows. First, the result of exploratory analysis showed that the model with 7 factors was satisfactory: (1) vocabulary exposure, (2) word elaboration, (3) scaffolding, (4) play activity, (5) conventional instruction, (6) word type awareness instruction, (7) word morphology instruction. Second, confirmatory factor analysis confirmed the good fit of the model. Third, the concurrent validity was confirmed by correlation analysis using EC-HOME. Last, the internal consistency reliability of each factor of PLIS-P was also confirmed. This study developed both a theoretical framework of parent-child lexical interaction and a Parent-child Lexical Interaction Scale for Preschoolers. This scale can be used by parents, practitioners, and researchers to acquire knowledge about interaction related to words between Korean parents and young children.

  • The study examined whether the relation between mathematics self-efficacy and mathematics achievement was partially mediated by the learning strategies, using latent growth model analyses. It was also examined the auto-regressive, cross-lagged (ARCL) panel model for testing the stability and change in the relation of mathematics self-efficacy and learning strategy over time. The study analyzed the first-year to the third-year data of the Korean Educational Longitudinal Survey (KELS). The result of ARCL panel model analysis showed that earlier mathematics self-efficacy could predict later learning strategy use. There were linear trends in mathematics self-efficacy, learning strategy, and mathematics achievement. Specifically, mathematics achievement was increased over the three time points, whereas mathematics self-efficacy and learning strategies were significantly decreased. In the analyses of latent growth models, the mediating effects of learning strategies were overall supported. That is, both of initial status and change rate of rehearsal strategy partially mediated the relation of mathematics self-efficacy and mathematics achievement. However, in elaboration and meta-cognitive strategies, only the initial status of each variable showed the indirect relationship.

  • An induced hesitant linguistic aggregation operator is investigated in the paper, in which, hesitant fuzzy linguistic evaluation values are associated with probabilistic information. To deal with these hesitant fuzzy linguistic information, an induced hesitant fuzzy linguistic probabilistic ordered weighted averaging (IHFLPOWA) operator is proposed, monotonicity, boundary and idempotency of IHFLPOWA are proved. Then andness, orness and the entropy of dispersion of IHFLPOWA are analyzed, which are used to characterize the weighting vector of the operator, these properties show that IHFLPOWA is extensions of the induced linguistic ordered weighted averaging operator and linguistic probabilistic aggregation operator. In this paper, IHFLPOWA is utilized to gather linguistic information and create fuzzy ontologies, and a movie fuzzy ontology as an illustrative case study is used to show the elaboration of the proposed method and comparison with the existing linguistic aggregation operators, it seems that the IHFLPOWA operator is an useful and alternative operator for dealing with hesitant fuzzy linguistic information with probabilistic information.

  • The research started from the consideration that, although many aspects of the Milanese Early Renaissance are well known today, thanks to a vast literature, only few studies, so far, have paid attention to the ordinary world of architectural work - and its obscure protagonists - of this area and this period. Moving from the belief that this topic is crucial for a complete understanding of the 15th century architectural world, characterized by a progressive overlapping of roles and responsibilities in the worksites, this study aims to provide a contribution to expand the understanding of this matter, by focusing on a particular aspect of it: the role of the public administration in the architectural activity. In particular, the paper analyzes the characteristics of the "Office of the engineers of the Municipality of Milan", one of the major public architectural institution of the Duchy of Milan in the 15th century. Through an extensive archival survey, conducted in the major archives of Milan and Lombardy, the research achieves two main findings: a) the reconstruction of the complete Office staff throughout the 15th century and, b) an outline of the role and identity of the Office and its officers, through the elaboration of data collected. In particular, professional roles, technical duties, cultural background and tasks of the officers, together with Office management, appointment procedures and salary conditions are highlighted. This research, not meant as an ultimate study on the topic discussed, is intended to provide some material and reference points for further researches that will aim to expand the understanding of this matter.

  • Background: The objective of this study was to assess the readability, suitability, and health content of cancer screening information in municipal newspapers in Japan. Materials and Methods: Suitability Assessment of Materials (SAM) and the framework of Health Belief Model (HBM) were used for assessment of municipal newspapers that were published in central Tokyo (23 wards) from January to December 2013. Results: The mean domain SAM scores of content, literacy demand, and layout/typography were considered superior. The SAM scores of interaction with readers, an indication of the models of desirable actions, and elaboration to enhance readers' self-efficacy were low. According to the HBM coding, messages of medical/clinical severity, of social severity, of social benefits, and of barriers of fear were scarce. Conclusions: The articles were generally well written and suitable. However, learning stimulation/motivation was scarce and the HBM constructs were not fully addressed. Practice implications: Articles can be improved to motivate readers to obtain cancer screening by increasing interaction with readers, introducing models of desirable actions and devices to raise readers' self-efficacy, and providing statements of perceived barriers of fear for pain and time constraints, perceived severity, and social benefits and losses.

  • One of the most important activities in the process of mathematical modeling is to build models by conjecturing mathematical rules and principles in the real phenomena and to validate the models by considering its validity. Due to uncertainty and ambiguity inherent real-contexts, various strategies and solutions for mathematical modeling can be available. This characteristic of mathematical modeling can offer a proper environment in which creativity could intervene in the process and the product of modeling. In this study, first we analyze the process and the product of mathematical modeling, especially focusing on the students' models and validating way, to find evidences about whether modeling can facilitate students'creative thinking. The findings showed that the students' creative thinking related to fluency, flexibility, elaboration, and originality emerged through mathematical modeling.

  • This research focuses on the cadastre and cartographic tradition regarding the representation of Rome that had lasted until the middle of 18th Century. Since the early period of Roman Republic until the early 18th Century, map was considered as a effective medium to record the status of urban facts and also a manifestation of changing perception of reality. These facts allow to diagnose social and conventional changes that had occurred in the field of representation techniques and methodologies derived from diverse intention and objective in elaboration of each map. Cartography also has affinity to architectural drawing as many categories of individuals are involved, clients, researchers, craftsmen, publisher and collectors. Fundamental task of documenting the contemporary physical reality was given to the map, however, as architects had practiced through the drawings, cartographers also reconstruct in subjective way specific buildings and urban aspects according to various needs and demands. As such, philology and imagination play important role as two constitute extreme poles in the evolution of the cadastre. Through analysis of paradigmatic examples in the genealogy of cartography of Rome, it was possible to understand the changing episteme that testify the mentality and custom in the field of visual representation.

  • This research employs the grounded theory approach among various qualitative methodologies in order to reach a deep understanding of both the experiential process that children undergo in block play and the essential meaning of it. The objects of this study are 22 children(female 7, male 15) in a 5-year-old class of K kindergarten at Guro district, Seoul. The result of this research shows that first, children take pleasure in block play because of the delight and sense of accomplishment in building, the joy in demolishing, and the happiness of embracing the world through dramatic play with building structures. Second, the characteristics of children's block play are popular subject of the play, decision of the subject, impromptu transformation and elaboration of building structures, and flow of the play according to friend/non-friend relationship. Third, the implicit rules shared by children have more significant influences upon the block play than the agreed rules at the beginning of semester.
