Work environments have been changed with the advent of new technologies, such as computer technology. However, human cognitive limits can't pace up with the change of work environment. Designing human-computer system requires knowledge and evaluation of the human cognitive processes which control information flow workload. Futhermore, under limited reaction time and/or urgent situation, human operator may the work stress, work error and resultant deleterious work environment. This paper evaluate the visual factors of major information processing factors(information density, amount of information, operational speed of speed)on operator performance of supervisory control under urgent(limited reaction time)environments which require deleterious work condition. To describe the work performance int the urgent work situations with time stress and dynamic event occurrence, a new concept of information density was introduced. For a series of experiments performed for this study, three independent variables(information amount, system proceeding speed, information density) were evaluated using five dependent variables. The result of statistical analyses indicate that the amount of information affected on all of five dependent measure. Number of failure and number of secondary task score were influenced by both amount of information and operational speed of system. However reaction time of secondary task were affected by both amount of information and information density. As a result, the deleterious factors for the performances seemed to be a scanning time to supervise each control panel. Consequently, a new display panel was suggest to reduce operator work load for scanning task showing better operator performance.
In this driving simulation study, the impairing effects of various types of electronic devices usage(i. e., destination search by using in-vehicle navigation system, TV watching and dialing cellular phone) during driving on front-to-rear-end collision avoidance were investigated. Percentage of collisions, driving speeds when the drivers collided, and initial reaction time for collision avoidance were analyzed and compared as the dependent measures. The results indicated that (1) any types of electronic devices usage during driving induced more serious collision-related impairment than control condition where no additional task was required, and (2) in general, destination search task appeared to impair drivers collision avoidance performance more than the other task requirements in terms of percentage of collisions and initial reaction time for collision avoidance, but TV watching induced most serious collision impact. These results suggested that any types of electronic device usage could distract drivers attention from the primary task of driving, and be resulted in serious outcome in potentially risky situation of front-to-rear-end collision. In particular, mandatory use of eye-hand coordination and receiving feedback seemed to one of essential factor leading the drivers visual attentional distraction.
Quick and accurate learning of diverse electronic products has become an important daily task. In particular, software occupies core status in the control and operation of the products. This research tested the effects of learning method, schedule, and task difficulty in the learning of software. Using 2 (learning method: experiential vs. verbal) ${\times}$ 2 (learning schedule: spaced vs. massed) ${\times}$ 2 (difficulty: easy vs. difficult) between-subjects design, Experiment 1 tested participants' learning of file control using Windows Movie Maker. There was no effect of learning schedule on task completion time, but participants in experiential learning were faster in the completion of evaluation task compared with those in verbal learning condition. Importantly, as task difficulty increases participants in verbal condition showed markedly lower performance than those in experiential condition, which suggests that experiential learning is more effective with more difficult learning task. That is, in case of learning simple operation of software verbal learning using linguistic manual or instruction could be sufficient; on the other hand in case of learning complex operation learning from experience or tutorial mode would be more effective. Additional studies which manipulated task difficulty (Expt. 2) and inter-trial learning interval (Expt. 3) did not produce meaningful results.
This study aims to verity effects of project method on the girl students' task performance ability in the unit of 'Energy and Transportation Technology' of Technology' Home Economics Subject in High schools. The task performance ability are composed of collecting information, performing achievement, planning of solving the task, and performance evaluation. The results of this research conducted for girl students of two classes of H high school located in Gyeong-gi Province are as follows: First, the group with the project method was more effective, in general, in learning ability of performing the tasks of 'Energy and Transportation Technology' than the group with traditional teaching. Second, the group with the project method was more effective than the group with traditional teaching in ability of task performance of subordinate elements of performing tasks in the unit of 'Energy and Transportation Technology', such as collecting information and performing achievement. However, in the fields of another subordinate elements of planning of solving the task and performing evaluation, the degree of effectiveness was unknown. After examining the results of all the cases, it was found that project method was more effective than the traditional teaching method in increasing the performing task abilities of the students in the lesson of 'Energy and Transportation Technology' in high schools.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of female applicant's facial attractiveness and feminine-masculine clothing image on job performance evaluation and hiring decision. The research design of study consisted of 3(facial attractiveness high, middle, low)${\times}$2(feminine and masculine clothing image) factorial design. The subject consisted of 243 persons whose occupation were mid-sized companies' administrator in Gwangju and Seoul City. The data were analyzed by factor analysis, Duncan test, ANOVA, t-test. The results of this study were as follows. First, three factors emerged to account for the job performance evaluation. These factors were given the titles of task performance, cooperation and self-management factors. Second, applicant's facial attractiveness exerted significant positive effect on self-management and significant negative effect on cooperation. Third, applicant's facial attractiveness exerted significant effect on hiring decision. Finally, the interaction effect of female applicant's facial attractiveness and feminine-masculine clothing image on job performance evaluation and hiring decision were not significant.
Being able to adopt new information technologies into an organization is very important and critical in the rapid changing, competitive environment. In this research, existing papers related to the information technology acceptance of the 1990s have been studied and analyzed, and the components that affect the use of groupware have been studied by setting up an evaluation model to find the emotional status of the individuals that use groupware. Based upon the survey of 218 groupware users, this study utilized path analysis with LISREL8.12. The major results are as follows: First, perceived usefulness was influenced by training, perceived ease of use. Second, training, groupware self-efficacy, organizational support were determinants of ease of use. Third, training, task ambiguity, task interdependence, organizational support influenced subjective norm. Forth, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, subjective norm had positive effects on present usage.
It is difficult to evaluate the performance of process innovation of e-procurement which has large scale and complex processes. The existing evaluation methods for measuring the effects of process innovation have been mainly done with statistically quantitative methods by analyzing operational data or with qualitative methods by conducting surveys and interviews. However, these methods have some limitations to evaluate the effects because the performance evaluation of e-procurement process innovation should consider the interactions among participants who are active either directly or indirectly through the processes. This study considers the e-procurement process as a complex system and develops a simulation model based on MAS(Multi-Agent System) to evaluate the effects of e-procurement process innovation. Multi-agent based simulation allows observing interaction patterns of objects in virtual world through relationship among objects and their behavioral mechanism. Agent-based simulation is suitable especially for complex business problems. In this study, we used Netlogo Version 4.1.3 as a MAS simulation tool which was developed in Northwestern University. To do this, we developed a interaction model of agents in MAS environment. We defined process agents and task agents, and assigned their behavioral characteristics. The developed simulation model was applied to G2B system (KONEPS: Korea ON-line E-Procurement System) of Public Procurement Service (PPS) in Korea and used to evaluate the innovation effects of the G2B system. KONEPS is a successfully established e-procurement system started in the year 2002. KONEPS is a representative e-Procurement system which integrates characteristics of e-commerce into government for business procurement activities. KONEPS deserves the international recognition considering the annual transaction volume of 56 billion dollars, daily exchanges of electronic documents, users consisted of 121,000 suppliers and 37,000 public organizations, and the 4.5 billion dollars of cost saving. For the simulation, we analyzed the e-procurement of process of KONEPS into eight sub processes such as 'process 1: search products and acquisition of proposal', 'process 2 : review the methods of contracts and item features', 'process 3 : a notice of bid', 'process 4 : registration and confirmation of qualification', 'process 5 : bidding', 'process 6 : a screening test', 'process 7 : contracts', and 'process 8 : invoice and payment'. For the parameter settings of the agents behavior, we collected some data from the transactional database of PPS and some information by conducting a survey. The used data for the simulation are 'participants (government organizations, local government organizations and public institutions)', 'the number of bidding per year', 'the number of total contracts', 'the number of shopping mall transactions', 'the rate of contracts between bidding and shopping mall', 'the successful bidding ratio', and the estimated time for each process. The comparison was done for the difference of time consumption between 'before the innovation (As-was)' and 'after the innovation (As-is).' The results showed that there were productivity improvements in every eight sub processes. The decrease ratio of 'average number of task processing' was 92.7% and the decrease ratio of 'average time of task processing' was 95.4% in entire processes when we use G2B system comparing to the conventional method. Also, this study found that the process innovation effect will be enhanced if the task process related to the 'contract' can be improved. This study shows the usability and possibility of using MAS in process innovation evaluation and its modeling.

PURPOSE: This study examined the effects on the upper extremity function, muscle strength, and hand function of a task-oriented training approach using a percussion instrument for patients with chronic stroke. METHODS: Twenty-four chronic stroke patients accompanied with upper extremity hemiplegia were selected for research and were classified randomly into 12 experimental groups and 12 control groups. The experimental group performed a task-oriented approach, and the control group performed upper extremity occupational therapy. Stroke upper extremity test, Jebsen-Taylor Hand Function test, upper extremity muscle strength test, and hand muscle strength test were measured before and after training in the evaluation process. RESULTS: In the upper extremity test and Jebsen-Taylor test, there were no significant differences between the groups. In the upper extremity muscle strength test, there were significant differences in shoulder flexion, internal rotation, and elbow flexion in the experimental group. In the hand muscle strength test, there were significant differences in the grip, tip Pinch, lateral Pinch, and 3-jaw chuck in the experimental group and significant differences in only grip, tip pinch, and lateral pinch in the control group. In addition, there were significant differences in the lateral pinch compared to the amount of change. CONCLUSION: Task-oriented approach using percussion instruments for upper extremity rehabilitation in stroke patients is effective in the upper extremity function and strength, hand function, and strength.

This study was to investigate the effects of group program on interactions and activity performance and among chronic stroke patients living in the community. This study was performed on 8 chronic stroke patients living in the community for 40 weeks for group program once a week for 60 minutes. group programs consisted of gross motor, fine motor, and cognitive activities that led to interactions among group members. Results were assessed by using the Social Interaction Anxiety Scale(SIAS) and Canadian Occupational Performance Measure(COPM), and evaluation of the task performance and social interaction was conducted. There was statistically significant decrease in social interaction anxiety level of subjects after group program intervention and statistically significant improvement in task performance. In addition, all of the subjects showed positive satisfaction with the program after the intervention. group program provided by the to chronic stroke patients living in the community is a approach that enhances the interacts with the members, task performance of the subjects and helps them design a meaningful life.

Natural disaster has been hard to prevent the occurrence of itself, thus in order to reduce the economic damages and loss casualties, it is important to be prepared in cases that the disasters should occur in advance. Interest of the related project to prevent various natural disasters has been grown along with an investment in Korea. Along with this movement, when investments related to natural disaster prevention projects were built on, the post evaluation that can verify the ripple effects of those investments on the community should be emerging as an essential task. For evaluating the effects of public investment projects such as natural disaster prevention projects in this study, the related researches would continue through qualitative analyses, for example, cost-benefit analysis. Even the qualitative analysis alone cannot fully explain the effects of those projects, the diverse methods of analyzing and evaluating those effects might not have been presented in those fields. For the post evaluation of natural disaster prevention projects through the qualitative analysis, this study derived subjects that had effects on the post evaluation of natural disaster prevention projects. Also, employing the structural equation modeling (SEM), the causation between post evaluation subjects and the effects of projects were quantitatively analyzed, and the weighting factors of evaluation items were calculated respectively. Based on these results, post evaluation index formula was proposed for the natural disaster prevention projects in Korea.
