Effect of a simulation-based program for post-operative care of emergency patients (응급환자의 수술 후 관리를 위한 시뮬레이션기반 교육프로그램의 효과)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to confirm the effects of a simulation-based program on knowledge and clinical performance in the post-operative management of emergency patients. Methods: This was a pre- and post-research design with a nonequivalent control group and randomly sampled 29 experimental and control groups, respectively from nursing department juniors for 4 weeks from September of 2014. The experimental group received lectures, team study, team simulation, and debriefing in post-operative management of simulation-based emergency patients and control group conducted in the traditional lecture-type setting. Educational learning effects were measured by using the knowledge and clinical performance measurement tools of 15 and 20 items, respectively. Data were analyzed by using the SPSS program, including frequency, ratio, and results from the Chi-square test, Fisher's exact test, Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, t-test. Results: Our research results indicate that, the experimental group showed significantly higher knowledge and clinical performance score compared with the control group. Conclusion: We confirmed that education on post-operative management of simulation-based emergency patients was an effective educational method to improve the knowledge and clinical performance of nursing students.

Development and Applicability Evaluation of an Emergent Care Management Simulation Practicum for Nursing Students (간호학생을 위한 응급상황관리 시뮬레이션 실습 교과목 개발 및 적합성 평가)

  • Purpose: This study was to evaluate the applicability of an emergent care management simulation practicum which is for enhancing nursing students' emergent care management competency based on the Nursing Education Simulation Model. Methods: One group pre-post experimental design was conducted for evaluation of the applicability of the simulation practicum. A convenient sample of 60 senior nursing students was participated. The simulation practicum was provided for 26 hours per student at the end of the first semester of senior year. Educational practices in simulation scale, simulation design scale and learning outcomes were measured. Higher positive correlations between variables represent applicability. Descriptive analysis, paired t-test and Pearson correlation coefficient were used for data analyses. Results: Among contractual components of nursing education simulation model, educational practices in simulation and simulation design (r=.80, p<.010), learning outcomes (r=.71-.28, p<.050), simulation design and learning outcomes (r=.72-.30, p<.050) were significantly correlated. Critical thinking (t=-3.63, p<.050) and problem solving competence (t=-2.55, p<.050) were significantly increased by this simulation practicum. It represents the applicability of an emergent care management simulation practicum. Conclusion: This emergent care management simulation practicum was appropriate to enhance the nursing students' emergent care management coping competency.

  • To solve modern social problems, it is important that improve the democratic citizenship quality of people. This quality includes the rational and democratic problem-solving capacity, decision-making capacity, democratic skills and attitudes such as human dignity, dialogue, compromise. To use an educational network simulation game that has the merits of game, simulatio and network will help children to improve the democratic citizenship educaiton. This study explorers the structure, flow, system, database, interface and teaching-learning tool for this educational network simulation game.

  • The paper presents a multimedia educational program of DC servo drives for distant learning with a special emphasis on sliding mode control. The program contains of three parts: animation, simulation and internet based measurement. The animation program explains the operation of DC motors, gives its time- and frequency-domain equations, transfer functions and the theoretical background necessary for controller design for DC servo motors. The simulation model of the DC servo motor and the controller can be designed by the students based on the animation program. The students can also test their controllers through the internet based measurement, which is the most important part from engineering point of view. After the measurements are executed, the students can download the measured data and compare them to the simulation results.

Effectiveness of an Emergent Care Management Simulation Education among Senior Nursing Students According to Learning Styles (간호대학 4학년 학생의 학습유형에 따른 응급상황관리 시뮬레이션 교육의 효과)

  • This is a quasi-experimental study involving one group design with pretest and posttest for evaluation of an effectiveness of an emergent care management simulation education among senior nursing students according to their learning styles. Participants were 58 senior nursing students. Learning style and educational effectiveness (critical thinking disposition, problem solving process, cooperation, satisfaction with learning, and self-confidence) were measured. Learning styles of senior nursing students were converger 46.6%, assimilator 34.5%, accommodator 15.5%, and diverger 3.4%. Critical thinking disposition, problem solving process, cooperation, and self-confidence were significantly enhanced by an emergent care management simulation education. Otherwise, educational effectiveness according to learning styles were not significantly different. Based on the results, devising stratagem to maximize an educational effectiveness will be needed trough re-evaluation of relationship between learning styles and effectiveness of a simulation education.

Design and Application of Nursing Simulation using Goal-based Scenario for Nursing Students (Goal-based Scenario를 활용한 간호시뮬레이션 수업설계 및 적용)

  • Purpose: This purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of educational design according to Goal-based Scenario constituent elements such as educational goals, mission, cover story, role, scenario operation, resources, and feedback in simulation training. Methods: The subjects of this study were 130 nursing students in their senior year who enrolled in the simulation exercise I course. They were divided into a total of 10 groups in which less than 20 students were assigned. In order to verify the effectiveness of the simulation training through Goal-based Scenario instructional design, a design of non-equality control group was carried out. Results: The results of this study were as follows: Critical thinking (t=1.81, p=.073) and problem solving ability (t=1.79, p=.076), course satisfaction (t=8.61, p<.001) and academic performance (t=5.48, p=.001) were supported. Conclusion: This study applied a Goal-based Scenario simulation program to present clear objectives for simulating training and to advance learning methods that are appropriate to the current education environment. In addition, this study has significance in presenting an instructional model for various simulated practice education and can be used as useful basic data related to simulated training education.

  • Recently, in the field of education, various attempts have been made to apply virtual reality technology to an educational field and use it as an educational medium. Accordingly, in the science subject area, it is necessary to simulate science experiments that can make various and active experiments out of various limitations such as space and situation by using virtual reality environment construction technology. In this study, after selecting a physics course from a science subject, an experimental simulation using a parabolic motion formula, one of physical phenomena, is implemented in a virtual space, and then used in actual physics education based on the learning standards of the STEAM theory. Prove this is possible. Through this, it was confirmed that a specific educational model using virtual reality space can be designed, and it shows that education can be conducted with more effective educational methods in various subjects of education through the combination of traditional educational model and modern technology. Regarding the results of the research, it suggests the possibility of future research plans and practical use in the educational field.

  • By using the formerly established SERVQUAL Model, measurement methods and determinant variables in the other papers for the Service Quality, this study first focuses to find out the difference consumers' evaluation between before-experience and after-experience of the educational service, and second, to examine the difference consumers' evaluation between before-experience and after-experience of the educational service according to pre-recognition degree for the subjected educational service quality. The results are derived as follows. 1. As a consequence of the simulation, the consumers distinctly tend to recognize importance of human concern and visual aspect after experience of educational service. 2. Between the group with more pre-recognition degree and less pre-recognition degree for the subjected educational service quality, have no difference.

  • The main purpose of this study is to find out the strengths and weaknesses of the application of BIM to the educational facilities. All the data information is drawn from the integrated design process which links various fields such as energy simulation, structure analyzation, and etc, and it is applied to the project combined as one data set. Moreover, we analyze the possible problems of the data exchange that can happen as collaborating with various fields while working on the project, and we present its solutions and the futher studies on this matter of a project.
