  • To solve the large scale optimization problem approximately, various approaches have been introduced. They are mainly based on recent research advancement of simulations for evolutions, flocking, annealing, and interactions among organisms on artificial environments. The typical ones are simulated annealing(SA), artificial neural network(ANN), genetic algorithms(GA), tabu search(TS), etc. Recently the particle swarm optimization(PSO) has been introduced. The PSO simulates the process of birds flocking or fish schooling for food, as with the information of each agent Is share by other agents. The PSO technique has been applied to various optimization problems of which variables are continuous. However, there are seldom trials for visualization of searching process. This paper proposes a new visualization tool for searching process particle swarm optimization(PSO) algorithm. The proposed tool is effective for understanding the searching process of PSO method and educational for students.

  • Health literacy is the degree to which individuals have the capacity to obtain, process, and understand basic health information and services needed to make appropriate health decisions. Librarians should improve their health literacy as well as that of their users' in order to help library users make well-informed decisions. In this study, we developed educational programs related to CHI (Consumer Health Information) suitable for Korean public librarians' professional development. We measured the effectiveness of the training after its administration and found areas in which improvement was necessary. As a result, this study found the following effects on public librarians after they completed the training: improved the public librarians' familiarity with CHI-related terms; increased education for users and diversification of resources; diversification and specialization of information sources which librarians used to perform CHI-related services; reduced time for reference services; increased professional knowledge in this area. However, this research represented the first time CHI-related education for public librarians was performed in Korea, and therefore many limitations were present in the education instructor, the diversity of subjects, and the methodology. Development of more advanced CHI-related education programs is required.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate elementary school students' conceptions about the energy represented in the integrated theme 'Energy and life' of the 2015 revised science curriculum. The instruments were developed to grasp students' understanding about 'the concepts of energy,' 'forms of energy,' 'conversion of energy,' and 'energy use of plants and animals.' The surveys were conducted on 92 elementary school students in Seoul. The students' answers were analyzed by descriptive statistics, clouds and semantic network analysis. The results are as follows: 'Electricity' and 'electric energy' were most frequently mentioned as the associated concepts to energy and forms of energy, respectively. Also, the daily use of energy was mixed to the use in science. According to conceptual hierarchy, understanding of energy conversion was dependent on the understanding of energy forms. Although students have basic concepts about the energy use of plants and animals, they had some misconceptions and lack of understanding. The educational implications were discussed to teach 'Energy and Life' as integrated theme in new elementary school curriculum.

  • The creative productivity is regarded as an essential factor to perform the gifted education. While it is very important to cultivate and to expand a creative productivity through mathematically problem solving in gifted education, we have difficulties in actual education of the (mathematically) gifted, even are there few researches/studies which deal with teaching and guiding the creative problem solving in mathematically gifted education, it is hard to find a guideline that provides proper ways (or directions) of learning-instruction and evaluation of the mathematically gifted. Therefore in this study, the researcher would provide a learning-instruction model to expand a creative productivity. The learning-instruction model which makes the creative productivity expanded in mathematically gifted education is developed and named MG-CPS(Mathematically Gifted-Creative Problem Solving). Since it reflected characteristics of academic- mathematical creativity and higher thinking level of the mathematically gifted, this model is distinguished from general CPS. So this model is proper to provide a learning experience and instruction to the mathematically gifted.
