  • The purpose of this study is to identify the effect of depression on chewing problems and the importance of oral aids through a point-in-time analysis. The data are the 4th(2008, 2nd year) and the 7th(2018, 3rd year) of the National Health and Nutrition Survey. The analysis method was frequency analysis and regression analysis using the SPSS/WIN 24.0 program. Studies have shown that depression has affected chewing problems(p<.001). Chronic diseases and the use of oral aids affected the chewing problem. The prevalence and treatment of depression affected the chewing problems(p<.001). In addition, private health insurance coverage increased in 2018 compared to 2008. In the future, the comparative studies considering various subjects and chronic diseases, the educational methods for the use of oral aids are needed.

  • This study aimed to introduce a case study of a basic engineering design course using the ENACT model for fostering social responsibility of engineers, and to investigate the educational effects of the course. Since the ENACT model was designed to encourage STEM college students to pursue responsible problem solving based on their understanding of socioscientific issues, we assumed that it would be beneficial for engineering students to foster their social responsibility as well as their understanding of science/engineering-related issues. A total of 49 engineering students who enrolled in the course participated in the study. Data included students' course artifacts, reflection papers, and responses to survey questionnaires. Results indicated that the students became more aware of nature of science and technology after the program, and began to solve the problems while considering the views of multiple stakeholders. They highly valued the experience of communicating with others as engaging in the civic activities. They also expressed high satisfaction and feeling of achievement on the course learning. We expect the ENACT model to be an effective teaching guideline that fosters the social responsibility of engineering students and furthermore, engineering ethics.

  • Purpose: This study aims to explore the mediating effect of the health self-efficacy and activity confidence in the relationship between body image and health promoting behavior in middle school girls. Methods: A descriptive correlational design was used. Participants were 142 in middle school girls. The questionnaire consisted of measuring tools for body image, health promoting behavior, health self-efficacy and activity confidence. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient and the PROCESS Macro for SPSS 23.0 to verify the multiple mediated effect with a parallel structure. Results: Body image showed a significant positive correlation with health self-efficacy (r=.28, p=.001), activity confidence (r=.45, p<.001) and health promoting behavior (r=.37, p<.001). Health self-efficacy was also significantly correlated with activity confidence (r=.51, p<.001) and health promoting behavior (r=.63, p<.001). Activity confidence was significantly health promoting behavior (r=.67, p<.001). Furthermore, health self-efficacy (B=.35, p<.001) and activity confidence (B=.38, p<.001) showed a mediation effect on the relationship between body image and health promoting behavior. Conclusion: The impact of body image on health promoting behavior in middle school girls was mediated by health self-efficacy and activity confidence. Result suggest that strategies for improving health self-efficacy and activity confidence in middle school girls should be considered when developing an educational program for enhancing their health promoting behavior.

  • The current Sudanese preschool system depends on limited methods of education, children's education needs to be equipped to keep pace with technological development, also, the large gap that exists between the families and the Kindergartens, where many parents have no idea on how their child progresses in the KG context. The aim of this research is to integrate ICT in the preschool education to enhance and improve the preschool education, by building an Integrated Educational Application (Computerized Application for Preschool Education CAPE) which will help to improve the learning outcomes. The researchers used the Experimental Research Methodology, the characteristic of CAPE application is; suitable for children's age, the application style is more attractive to the children and contains a different way to help children get learning. Alawaeel and the Smart Child Kindergartens in Republic of Sudan were selected as a sample of the study, with sample size specifically, 50 children's. Also, the Central Bank of Sudan Kindergarten was selected as one of the institutional Kindergartens for easy communication with parents of children with a sample size 21 children. The study found that; using CAPE application in KG enables children to increase general learning effects and developing child's cognitive skills. Also, the children who were allowed to use CAPE by their parents are performed better in the overall evaluation of KG lessons. Also, using the CAPE in the Pre-School education helps the parents following their children's progress better and more reliable. The researcher recommends that to apply the computerized application and includes the second level. Also, converting the computerized program into an application to be used by children by their self, without the intervention of parents.

  • This study investigated the effects of mother's psychological control and of teacher-child interaction on young children's self-regulation. Data were collected by surveying 358 young children, their mothers and their 28 teachers. Data were analyzed with statistics using the SPSS Win 18.0 version. The study results are as follows. Mother's psychological control and teacher-child interaction had a significant effect on infant self-regulation. Between them, the child-teacher interaction had a greater effect than the mother's psychological control, affecting emotional regulation more than behavioral regulation. The study results confirmed the mother's psychological control and the interaction of the child-teacher as the variables affecting the children's self-regulation. These results highlight the necessity of continuing education on mother's discipline and teacher's interaction and development of educational program for early childhood pre-service teachers.

A survey was conducted for April 2017 with self-report questionnaire. Participants were 261 registered nurses working in one tertiary hospital. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and hierarchical regression analysis with SPSS/WIN(21.0). Factors affecting clinical decision making included age, educational background, position, work shift, clinical career. Clinical decision making had a positive correlation with critical thinking and nursing practice environment. And position, critical thinking and nursing practice environment accounted for 35.8% of the variance in clinical decision making. Therefore, quality management for developing nursing professionalism and administrative support for effective staffing and resource adequacy in addition improving critical thinking increase nurses'clinical decision making.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore self-directed learning ability and its affecting factors among undergraduate students. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study design was used. Using a convenience sampling method, data were collected from 196 undergraduate students enrolled in one national university. Negative psychological tendency (i.e. Type D personality), academic engagement, and self-directed learning ability were assessed using a structured questionnaire. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, and analysis of covariance, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple linear regression, using SPSS/WIN 23.0 program. Results: The mean age of the students was $21.61{\pm}2.40years$ and 56.6% were male students. Approximately, one third (n=67, 34.2%) of the students had Type D personality. The average scores of academic engagement and self-directed learning ability were $3.01{\pm}1.14$ and $3.46{\pm}0.50$, respectively. After controlling for sociodemographic variables, the Type D personality and academic engagement were significant predictors of self-directed learning ability (${\beta}=.64$, p<.001; ${\beta}=-.13$, p=.021, respectively). This model explained 53.6% of the variance in self-directed learning ability. Conclusion: The study identified that Type D personality and academic engagement affect self-directed learning ability of undergraduate students, one in a negative way, the other in a positive way. Educators and educational policy makers need to make efforts to include interventions and strategies that increase academic engagement and change negative psychological dispositions such as D-type personality in the undergraduate education curriculum.
