The purpose of this research was to investigate meaning of teachers as they manifest themselves in the emotional regulation of 2year old infants in a daycare center. In addition, the research attempts to provide basic research data that can be used as a guideline for teacher's awareness, roles, attitudes, and classroom management for infant's emotional education in the future. To achieve this goal, participatory observation was conducted in a child care center class for infants under 2 years old from January 17 to January 29, 2012. The teacher is defined as follow : Teachers are authority figures whose image is that of absolute authority, and coupled with their dual role of passive caretakers. Additionally, they function as guides who guided infants through the process of emotional socialization, and played the central role of emotional contagion from whose expression speech and atmosphere the said infants receive much influence. Such results seemed to indicate that teachers today do not fully comprehend the importance of their roles in influencing the emotion regulation of infants.
The purpose of this study was to develop an intervention program for the improvement of the emotion regulation of 5-year-olds and to analyze the effects of this program on their emotion regulation and social behavior. The participants consisted of 56 5-year-olds from two day care center located in a metropolitan area of Korea. The experimental group (n=28) participated in the intervention program, and the comparative group (n=28) did not. This intervention program was developed to deal with peer relationships, and consists of activities designed to cover all domains of the Korean National Early Education Standard. The emotion regulation and social behavior were measured before and after the experiment. The data were analyzed making use of ANCOVA. Our results indicate that this program had the effect of improving the emotion regulation and social behavior on the part of 5-year-olds.

The current study examined the relations among teachers' beliefs, behavioral self-regulation and school readiness of preschoolers. The study sample included 229 preschoolers aged 3 to 5 attending child care centers located in Seoul and Gyeonggi area of Korea. Using Structural Equation Modeling, the paths from teachers' beliefs to children's school readiness via the mediation of their behavioral self-regulation were examined. Children's self-regulation was directly assessed using Head-to-Toe Tasks. The results showed that teachers' stronger beliefs in and responsibility for children's self-regulation and interpersonal skills significantly predicted greater behavioral self-regulation among children, which in turn, significantly influenced greater social skills and work-related skills. The contribution of teachers' beliefs and behavioral regulation to social skills and work-related skills was positive and stronger for boys.
This study examined the relations between children's Impulsivity temperament, socio-dramatic play, and self-regulation of 4-year-old children. Subjects were 117 4-year-old children(59 boys and 58 girls) selected from three kindergartens. Each mother completed a questionnaire on her child's temperament. Naturalistic observations of total socio-dramatic play, complex socio-dramatic play, solitary dramatic play and of self-regulation in two classroom contexts - clean-up periods and group circle time - were conducted for obtaining data. Significance was analyzed by Pearson's correlation and multiple regression analysis. Children's Impulsivity was negatively related to self-regulation and to total and complex socio-dramatic play, but impulsivity was positively related to solitary dramatic play. Total and complex socio-dramatic play was positively related to self-regulation while solitary dramatic play was negatively related to self-regulation. Total and complex socio-dramatic play, and solitary dramatic play displayed a mediating role between impulsivity and self-regulation during clean-up periods.
Digital textbooks draw attention as a new format of educational material, using the advantages of information technology; this innovative learning tool requires consideration as a part of successful and effective learning. The main purpose of the article is to investigate the mediating role of self-regulation between digital literacy and learning outcomes (academic performance and learning motivation) when using digital textbooks as a learning tool in Middle School English. Both descriptive and regression analysis were used as data analyses methods. The main findings of this study were as follows: first, digital literacy and self-regulation significantly predicted academic performance and learning motivation; second, self-regulation fully mediated between digital literacy and academic performance; third, self-regulation partially mediated between digital literacy and learning motivation. The research results proved the effects of digital literacy and self-regulation on the learning outcomes and mediating role of self-regulation between digital literacy and learning outcomes. These results help to design and implement effective lessons when using a digital textbook in Middle school English.
Collaborative learning encourages the use of high-level cognitive strategies, critical thinking, and interpersonal relationships. Despite these advantages, most instructors reveal the difficulties of using project-based collaborative learning; a common problem is the failure of the group to work effectively together. Thus, this study attempted to provide practical advice on group composition with self-regulation. In a college course, 31 groups with 129 students were asked to discuss and prepare the final presentation material and present it together as a collaborative work. All students' self-regulation skills were measured at the beginning of the semester, and the collective self-regulation was computed as an average of the individual scores of each group. The results of regression analysis indicate that the group's collective self-regulation shows a highly significant positive effect on group performance and satisfaction, as self-regulation predicts individual academic performance. The results also show that there is a significant positive relationship between students' self-regulation and participation in group work.

Purpose: This study aimed to determine a method to reduce stress in clinical practice by identifying how the empathy and self-regulation capacities of paramedic students influence their stress levels. Methods: Selected articles were statistically analyzed using SPSS 21.0. Data on 172 3rd-year and 4th-year paramedic students in Daejeon were used. The subject's general characteristics (sex, university education, the number of the medical training center, work type, satisfaction with college life, and satisfaction with their major) were analyzed according to empathy and self-regulation ability by t-test and ANOVA. Pearson's correlation coefficient was used for the correlation of empathy, self-regulation ability, and clinical practice stress. Hierarchical regression was used for factors influencing clinical practice. Results: Clinical practice stress levels were significantly different between general characteristics of sex (t=3.002, p=0.003), university education (t=2.815, p=0.006), the number of the medical training center (t=-2.998, p=0.003), work type (t=-2.998, p=0.003), satisfaction with college life (t=5.280, p=0.000), and satisfaction with major (t=5.132, p=0.000). Empathy (r=-.520, p<.001) and self-regulation ability (r=-.330, p<.001) significantly negatively correlated with major variables, and the major factor influencing clinical practice stress levels was empathy. Conclusion: Extension of education and various experiences for improving empathy and developing management programs should be performed to decrease clinical practice stress on paramedic students.
The purpose of the study was to examine the relationships between children's emotional regulation, perceived self-competence and behavior problem. The subjects were 357 elementary school students in Busan. The questionnaires on children's emotional regulation, perceived self-competence and behavior problem were used. The results were as follows: (1) According to sex, there were significant differences in children's emotional regulation scores(venting and support pursuit), and according to birth order, there were significant differences in children's perceived self-competence scores and behavior problem scores. (2) There were significant correlations between children's emotional regulation scores and behavior problem scores, and also there were significant correlations between children's perceived self-competence scores and behavior problem scores. (3) Children's perceived self-competence and emotional regulation explained children's anxiety behavior, withdrawal behavior, aggressive behavior, distracted behavior and regressive behavior.
While making a vigorous discussion about self-regulation for exponential growth of harmful health information on the Internet, many countries lave made various efforts to select and circulate high quality health information on the Internet. The purpose of this study Is to review the serf-regulation methods of health information on the Internet and to suggest quality control methods of health information on the Internet suitable for Korea. Self-regulation methods of the health information on the Internet include ‘content rating system(or content selection system)’, ‘codes of conduct or guideline’, ‘internet hot-line’, ‘education for information providers and consumers’. Any self-regulation method should be used with other methods. We can regulate health information on the Internet effectively by using both self-regulation methods and compulsive methods such as law. Also information providers, information consumers, specialists, consumer representatives, scholars, governments officers should take part in doing these efforts and make concern.
The purpose of this research was to identify the importance of emotional development in early childhood, in children ages three to five, by examining the relationship between the variables in the children such as gender, age, and temperament, as well as their mothers' emotionality, in relation to emotional development. The participants included a total of 72 children between three and five years of age. The major findings are as follow: First, there were significant differences in emotional expression and emotional recognition between the boys and the girls. Additionally, the emotional recognition of the children increased as age increased, and more positive strategies for emotional regulation were used with the increasing age of the children. Temperament characteristics did not have any relationship with emotional expression or emotional recognition, while the strategies for emotional regulation were related to the temperament characteristics. Second, the emotional expressivity of the mother was related to the emotional expression and recognition of the child, but wes not associated with strategies for emotional regulation. The emotional reactivity of the mother was related to a child's strategies for emotional regulation, but not to emotional expression or recognition. Third, emotional development of the children wes influenced by the individual child variables and emotionality of the mother.
