Objectives : This study is for suggesting the data base for help mother and child improve the oral health enhancement action from understanding child's oral health enhancement action from mother's oral health education experience and researching the effects of mother's oral health enhancement action on child's oral health enhancement action. Methods : The subject was 220 children and mothers of some kindergarten in Jeollabuk-do, Korea out of convenience'sampling. The results were collected by carrying out a survey out of self record method from visiting the kindergarten from June 24th to July 12th. and were analyzed. Results : 1. The mother's and child's oral health enhancement action was satisfactory in the factor of 'toothbrushing', 'oral hygiene care item' and 'periodic visits' in case the subjects have experienced oral health education, and that data was meaningful statistically. 2. In the oral health enhancement action practiced by mother to child from existence or absence of the mother's oral health education experience, the data was meaningful statistically in the factor of 'directly brushing its teeth more than once a day', 'washing its tongue' and 'coaching that child could keep the toothbrush not to overlap with other toothbrushes'. 3. In the factor that affect to oral health enhancement action practiced by mother to child, 'toothbrushing' and 'oral hygiene care item' were high level of the mother's oral health enhancement action, and that data was meaningful'statistically. Conclusions : The children's oral health condition could be influenced by mother's oral health knowledges and attention. Accordingly, oral health education for the mother and child has to be enforced'systematically'suited for the characteristic change of oral condition with children age groups. Also, utilizing human resources who have expertise and development of the oral health education program are needed.
Purpose. This study assessed the actual status of oral health behaviors, oral health consciousness and oral health belief with workers at work sites in some regions and would utilize the results of changes in the hygiene status in the oral cavity as basic materials for developing an education program for the oral health promotion of workers at work sites with the implementation of oral health education and oral health promotion program. Methods. The subjects of the study were 106 workers who expressed their intention to participate in a program in SMEs that agreed on the activities of an oral health education program through an education once per week, of the SMEs with less than 500 persons, located in G. City. General characteristics and the questionnaires of the items on the survey were investigated with a self-administered method, and the collected data were statistically analyzed, using SPSS 20.0. Results. As a result of research, it was noted that PHP-Index, the dental plaque index in the oral cavity became lower from 2.02 points to 1.00 point with continuous management and practice of oral promotion behaviors, and that the oral hygiene status improved. Conclusions. In order to promote the oral health of workers at work sites, substantially, it would be necessary to introduce an oral health promotion program they can practice themselves and through continuous education of oral health by assessing their consciousness and the actual status of their oral health behaviors, and it is expected that their oral health would be promoted ultimately by changing workers' oral health behaviors and consciousness.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate comparison of the effectiveness on knowledge improvement before and after the oral health education focusing on foreign students. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was filled out by 40 foreign students in Sun Moon University from June 2 to September 30, 2014. The experimental group had an online oral health education and the control group had an off line education. The questionnaire consisted of oral health(10 items), toothbrushing(10 items), dental caries(10 items), periodontal disease(5 items), tooth sensitivity(5 items), oral cancer(6 items), and smoking(5 items). The data were analyzed by SPSS Win 18.0 program. Results: Knowledge scores of online education increased to average 1.257 points, and that of offline education was average of 2.56 points. There were statistically significant results for toothbrushing, dental caries, periodontal disease, tooth sensitivity, oral cancer and TMD except for smoking in offline education group. Conclusions: This study suggests that the offline oral health education is more effective than online oral health education.
Objectives : This study is to investigate factors that predispose the oral health education patterns of teachers at preschool institutions such as kindergartens and day nurseries, for which a comparison was made among the patterns, whereto the PRECEDE model was applied. Methods : A survey was conducted by two visits, a preliminary survey and a main survey, and teachers at the foregoing institutions personally filled in the questionnaire. Results : 1. With relation to epidemiological and social diagnosis, the largest number of respondents (53.7%) agreed on the need for oral health education, but at the same time, the largest number of respondents (40.3%) was unsatisfactory with oral health education given by them. 2. With relation to behavioral diagnosis, there were many cases where respondents taught their students to brush their teeth after meals and snacks. Oral health education was focused on safety and injuries. There was no significant intergroup difference (p>0.05). 3. Predisposing factors (a subcategory of educational diagnosis) showed the following results: As for the frequency of oral health education, most respondents at both institutions answered preferred once every six month (p>0.05). In the case of oral health checkup, 75.4% of respondents at kindergartens preferred once a year. 72.2% of respondents at day nurseries preferred the same frequency. They showed a statistically significant difference (p<0.05). In enabling factors, it was found that most respondents at both institutions collected information and teaching materials from mass media and public health centers respectively. In enabling factors, insufficient teaching materials, media and knowledge were found to be obstacles to oral health education. Conclusions : Oral healthcare providers' cooperation is required to diversify away from tooth brushing-centered education and to enrich oral health education. In addition, continuous supplements are required to make teachers at preschool institutions acquire expert knowledge and give oral health education with confidence. Moreover, it needs to train them for various education programs as well as to support them with educational media. Lastly, family members' cooperation is required to develop oral health education programs.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the oral health behavior according to oral health education experience in the elementary school teachers and to provide the basic data for the development of oral health education program. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was filled out by 239 elementary school teachers in Busan and Ulsan from May 7 to 31, 2013. The questionnaire consisted of general characteristics of the subjects, use of oral health devices, dental clinic visit within a year, purpose of dental clinic visit, subjective oral health condition, place and contents of oral health education, future contents of oral health education, purpose of tooth brushing, recognition of sealant, recognition of dental caries prevention effect of fluoride, and method and frequency of tooth brushing. Data were analyzed by Predictive Analysis Software(PASW) Statistics $19.0^{(R)}$(SPSS Inc., Chicago IL, USA). Results: Of the 239 teachers, 187 teachers had oral health education experience and 52 did not. Those who had oral health education experience reported higher scores in tooth brushing than those who did not. 59.4% of the respondents answered the experience of oral health education in dental clinics. Conclusions: Oral health behavior was different from the experience of oral health education in the elementary school teachers. The teachers are the most important persons influencing on the right tooth brushing habit in the students. So the teachers must take the continuing and systematic oral health education.
Objectives : This study is to examine the effectiveness in the oral health promotion through the oral health education for high school students. In adolescence, there seems to be the high incidences of dental caries, gingivitis and periodontal diseases. Concerning preventing all such outbreaks, this study focuses on applying the oral health education to their health education, and on analyzing its effectiveness. Methods : To verify its effectiveness, this research administered 85 students of both genders of a certain high school in Seoul during May-October 2010, followed by the evaluation of DMFT, S-PHP, and CPITN. Results : First, the oral health promotion through the education was statistically significant in the permanent effects of index (FT index). Second, the effect of S-PHP index gradually decreased in statistics from the first to the fifth session, but, after five months ever since the education, it seemed relatively higher in the next sessions. Third, the changing in the level of CPITN decreased continuously as the students received the education repeatedly, but there is no significant difference in statistics for each session. Conclusions : For the oral health promotion in the high school students, the education ought to be focused on the behavior-change objectives rather than on the knowledge-based objectives. The repeated education for tooth-brushing instruction should be stressed for preventing from returning to the old bad behaviors.
Purpose : The purpose of this study was to provide the basic data for p lanning oral health education in elementary schol. Methods conducted using a postal, self-administered questionnaire. A questionnaire containing 19 questions about oral health education which was provided by health teachers in elementary schol was used for data colle ction. Total response rate was 64.3% (119 out of 185). Results : Oral health education except one through textbooks was conduc of which taught oral health themselves. The contents of oral he alth education through special clas was mainly focusing on the tothbrushing method, dental caries, and the use of fluo ride. Acording to the grades clasified by the level of education, the order was the 3rd, 1st, and 2nd grade, which mea ns that the lower grades got more training than the h was acquired through the internet (72.2%), health-related organizations or academies (51.5%). Also, materi als for oral health education were obtained from health-related organizations or academies (67%), self-productio n (49.5%). According to the data during the past 5 years it was found that 13.4% health teachers had oral health-related that more traing neded to be conducted from 89.7% health tea chers. The most dificult problem in oral health education were insufficient time (56.7%). Conclusion : For effective oral health education, there needs a developmen t of targeted goal to achieve a systemic oral health education for each grades as wel as a ned for as health teachers to eficiently acquire knowledge and materials for oral health education, it is necessary to hold regular workshops for health teachers, and develop and distribute appro priate educational materials.
Purpose. Infant oral health care forms the basis of lifelong health, and the role of child care teachers in contributing to the quality level in the formation of correct habits at this time throughout the infant's health care and education is very important. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between the perceived oral health status of nursery teachers and the necessity of oral health education, and to emphasize that the oral health of teachers is closely related to the oral health of infants and young children. Methods. This study was conducted from May to June 2018 by surveying private nursery teachers in some parts of Gyeongsangbuk-do province by using the self-entry method. The research tools consisted of the general characteristics of subjects, subjective oral health status, oral health practice, oral health education awareness, and oral health education needs. We used shceffe as a post hoc test to compare the differences between groups after frequency analysis, independent t-test, and one-way ANOVA analysis. The linear regression analysis was conducted to determine the relationship between perceived oral health status, oral health practice and awareness, and oral health education needs. The statistical level was .05. Results. According to the results of this study, the oral health related practice according to the demographic characteristics is at the final education level, and the oral health related awareness is age, marital status and oral health education needs. The results showed statistically significant differences in final educational attainment and cohabitation. The author aims at first securing basic material required for developing and operating proper oral health care education programs though making an investigation into the undergraduates of S College of Education on the actual status of oral health care and perceptions of oral health care education. The obtained results were as follows 1. In the actual status of oral care based on whether or not they have experiences in taking oral health care education, undergraduates with teeth brushing for more than three minutes a time were found to be 25.9% and 15.7% respectively according to the existence and nonexistence of experiences in the education(pM0.020), and undergraduates with teeth brushing in a circular motion was found to be 64.7% and 51.7% respectively, showing statistically significant differences(pM0.015). 2. In the actual status of preventative oral care according to whether or not they have experiences in taking oral care education, degrees of awareness of the usefulness of dental cleansers among the undergraduates were found to be 37.6% and 21.5% respectively according to the existence and nonexistence of experiences in the education(pM0.001), undergraduates with experiences in scaling were found to be 51.8% and 34.9% respectively(pM0.002) and undergraduates with experiences in having dental sealants were found to be 26.5% and 16.9%(pM0.031), showing statistically significant differences. 3. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of oral health education program on the oral health knowledge, oral health behavior and oral hygiene status of elementary school students. The design of this study is nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest gesign. The data analysis was done using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, Chisquare test, t-test, ANCOVA, Two-way ANOVA, Simple main effects, One-way ANOVA, and Duncan. Using with SPSS WIN 10.0. The result of this study are summarized as follows: 1. According to the result of verifying the hypothesis, 'The effect of oral health education program will be different between junior and senior' the hypothesis was partly supported To summarize result of this research, the experimental group, to which oral health education was given, was improved in oral health knowledge, oral health behavior and oral hygiene status compared to the control group, so the oral health education program was effective for the oral health of elementary school students.
