This study examines the demand for agricultural information at farm level, using Probit and Logit models. 646 farmers are surveyed with a questionnaire to attain the data and 441 of them have responded. The demand functions for computers, agricultural softwares, and agricultural databases at from level have been derived and used to project the demand for agricultural information in year $2001{\sim}2004$. Results find that only 5.89% of farmers have PCs at farm and rarely use the agricultural databases and softwares in 1994. The low demand figures are mostly due to the difficulty of using the PCs, databases, and softwares. The demand figures will increase in early 2000`s with 15.46% of farmers having PCs. User Friendly developed softwares and databases, and education for using agricultural information are necessary to increase the demand figures.
Understanding demand for travel websites can help hoteliers better evaluate their own multi-channel distribution and reputation management strategies. In this study, we estimated demand for eight major travel websites based on the user percentage in 3,120 U.S. counties. Results highlighted the importance of four types of factors: sociodemographic, economic, Internet use-related, and travel-related. Differences between websites were also compared based on estimated coefficients. For example, the demand for Expedia.com appeared to be driven by age, education background, income, and foreign travel history, whereas the demand for Hotels.com was driven by the proportion of the African American population and domestic travel history. Lastly, implications are provided.

In this paper, we describe the economic model of Becker's demand for child and examine whether the number of children and spending on private education in Korea can be explained by this model. The results show that household income has no significant effect on the number of children but has a significant positive effect on the spending on private education per child. These results suggest that the low fertility rate in Korea may increase the demand of parents for the quality of their children due to the increase of household income. And the higher the household income, the parents' education level and the child's age, the higher the spending on private education per child. These results show that there is a possibility of education and wealth transfer between parents and children through educational investment.
We investigated perception and educational demand for health functional foods among nutrition teachers and dietitians working in schools. The subjects were 229 nutrition teachers (57.2%) and dietitians (42.7%) working in Chungbuk elementary, middle and high schools. Approximately 67% of the subjects had experience consuming health functional foods. Most of the subjects did not have experience with the side effects after consuming health functional foods. Subjects who were unaware of the legal specifications, classification, and labeling standards for health functional foods (78-91.2%) were much more common than those who were aware of those issues. Most of the subjects perceived health functional foods as a food (45.0%) or as a product between a food and a medicine (44.5%). The subjects recommended themselves (43.1%) or medical doctors/pharmacists (40.8%) as consultation/education specialists for health functional foods. Approximately 66% of the subjects had experience conducting nutritional consultation/education in their schools, but only 3.2% had experience with health functional foods. Only 17.8% of the subjects had experience receiving education on health functional foods. Most subjects (88.2%) demanded education on health functional foods for themselves. The results suggest that an effective education is needed for nutrition teachers and dietitians working in schools for them to play an active role in educating students and their parents about health functional foods in the near future.

This study aims to propose a set of guidelines for the development of university librarians' continuing education program. It examines previous academic literature regarding such programs both in Korea and overseas, as well as the present condition and demands of Korean university librarians. A survey was conducted by systematically sampling 33.3% of all university librarians nationwide and asking about their experiences with the existing continuing education program(e. g., general satisfaction level, program topics, program administration, evaluation methods, outreach methods, reasons for participation). The survey results show that the participants: (1) had a relatively low satisfaction level; (2) strongly demand programs focusing on library promotion, management of information resources and knowledge content, and skills to adiust to the rapidly changing library environment; (3) prefer a week-long course focused on specialized subjects and skill development; and (4) cite more specialized education content, the establishment of a support system, and diversified education levels as factors that would further their interest in the continuing education program.

This study was conducted to suggest a direction in which safety managers can concentrate on industrial accident prevention and safety management for the organization. The job resources of safety managers were divided into organizational and individual levels, and the magnitude of the impact on organizational commitment was compared. Furthermore, job demands were classified into environmental risk factors and personal psychological factors to confirm their effect on organizational commitment. The moderating effect of job resources and sub-factors of the variable in the relationship between job demands and organizational commitment was verified. In this study, a questionnaire survey was conducted on 193 safety managers in the domestic electric construction business, data were collected, and a questionnaire of 180 people was used for the final analysis. Based on the results, organization-level resources among the sub-factors of job resources and individual psychological factors among the sub-factors of job demand had a more significant influence on organizational commitment. In the relationship between job resources and organizational commitment, the moderating effect of job demand was verified, confirming that job demand had a negative moderating effect. Individual psychological factors had a modulating effect, whereas environmental factors did not. The significance, implications, and limitations of this study are discussed based on the research results.
