  • Recently, studies of facial attribute editing have obtained realistic results using generative adversarial net (GAN) and encoder-decoder structure. Spatial attention GAN (SaGAN), one of the latest researches, is the method that can change only desired attribute in a face image by spatial attention mechanism. However, sometimes unnatural results are obtained due to insufficient information on face areas. In this paper, we propose an improved SaGAN (MSaGAN) using a guide mask for learning and applying multitask learning approach to improve the limitations of the existing methods. Through extensive experiments, we evaluated the results of the facial attribute editing in therms of the mask loss function and the neural network structure. It has been shown that the proposed method can efficiently produce more natural results compared to the previous methods.

  • Since the first HDV(High Definition Video) camcoder, HDR-FX1 with 1080i resolution, had been launched at 2004, the image capture and record with HD resolution have been possible by the various types of camcoder and recorder which can support the HDV format. At a present day, a non-linear editing system, which is composed of only one computer, can capture, edit and export the image with HDV format. The HDV format has the same class of resolution with HD and the same data transfer bit rate of DV(Digital Video). Additionally, the image with HDV format can be recorded in 6mm DV cassette tape. It is possible because the HDV format uses the concept of Long GOP(Gorup of pictures) method for its compression. In this paper, the characteristic feature of HDV format, the essential factors in editing with HDV format and the concept of Long GOP method for its compression have been studied for the way of effective HDV editing.

  • With the rapid increase of the number of multimedia contents, people consume a lot of multimedia contents through various distribution channels. Content-based image retrieval uses visual features that represent the contents of images. And users can retrieve or filter images based on the contents of the images using the features. But, the editing of the multimedia contents distorts the original visual features of the multimedia contents, thereby the performance of content-based image retrieval system could be lowered. In this paper, we describe the image editing effects that lower the performance of the retrieval system and propose algorithms that can remove the image editing effect and improve content-based image retrieval system.

  • This paper introduces a video editing system for senior creator who is not familiar to video editing. Based on video analysis techniques, it provide various information and delete unwanted shot. The system detects shot boundaries based on RNN(Recurrent Neural Network), and it determines the deletion of video shots. The shots can be deleted using shot-level significance, which is computed by detecting focused area. It is possible to delete unfocused shots or motion-blurred shots using the significance. The system detects object and face, and extract the information of emotion, age, and gender from face image. Users can create video contents using the information. Decorating tools are also prepared, and in the tools, the preferred design, which is determined from user history, places in the front of the design element list. With the video editing system, senior creators can make their own video contents easily and quickly.

  • The discovery and mechanistic understanding of target-specific genome engineering technologies has led to extremely effective and specific genome editing in higher organisms. Target-specific genetic modification technology is expected to have a leading position in future gene therapy development, and has a ripple effect on various basic and applied studies. However, several problems remain and hinder efficient and specific editing of target genomic loci. The issues are particularly critical in precise targeted insertion of external DNA sequences into genomes. Here, we discuss some recent efforts to overcome such problems and present a perspective of future genome editing technologies.

  • In this paper, we propose a pen gesture recognition system for user interface in multimedia terminal which requires fast processing time and high recognition rate. It is realtime and interaction system between graphic and text module. Text editing in recognition system is performed by pen gesture in graphic module or direct editing in text module, and has all 14 editing functions. The pen gesture recognition is performed by searching classification features that extracted from input strokes at pen gesture model. The pen gesture model has been constructed by classification features, ie, cross number, direction change, direction code number, position relation, distance ratio information about defined 15 types. The proposed recognition system has obtained 98% correct recognition rate and 30msec average processing time in a recognition experiment.

  • Regarding efficient development of computer graphic animations, lots of techniques for editing or transforming existing motion data have been developed. Basically, the motion transformation techniques follow optimization process. To make the animation be natural, almost all the techniques utilize kinematics and dynamics in constructing constraints for the optimization. Since the kinematic and dynamic structures of virtual characters to be animated are very complex, the most time-consuming part is known to the optimization process. In order to suggest some guide lines to engineers involved in the motion transformation, in this paper, we analyze the computational complexities for typical motion transformation in quantitative manner as well as the possibility for parallel computation.

  • As computer performance and needs of user convenience increase, computer user interface are also changing. This changes had great effects on software development environment. In past, text editors like vi or emacs on UNIX OS were the main development environment. These editors are very strong to edit source code, but difficult and not intuitive compared to GUI(Graphical User Interface) based environment and were used by only some experts. Moreover, the trends of software development environment was changed from command line to GUI environment and GUI Editor provides usability and efficiency. As a result, the usage of text based editor had decreased. However, because GUI based editor use a lot of computer resources, computer performance and efficiency are decreasing. The more contents are, the more time to verify and display the contents it takes. In this paper, we provide a new parser that provide multi view editing, incremental parsing and multiple entry of abstract syntax tree.

  • The acquisition of somatic mutations is the most common event in cancer. Neoantigens expressed from genes with mutations acquired during carcinogenesis can be tumor-specific. Since the immune system recognizes tumor-specific peptides, they are potential targets for personalized neoantigen-based immunotherapy. However, the discovery of druggable neoantigens remains challenging, suggesting that a deeper understanding of the mechanism of neoantigen generation and better strategies to identify them will be required to realize the promise of neoantigen-based immunotherapy. Alternative splicing and RNA editing events are emerging mechanisms leading to neoantigen production. In this review, we outline recent work involving the large-scale screening of neoantigens produced by alternative splicing and RNA editing. We also describe strategies to predict and validate neoantigens from RNA sequencing data.
