The main problem with existing edge detection techniques is that they have many limitations in detecting edges for complex and diverse images that exist in the real world. This is because only edges of a defined shape are discovered based on an accurate definition of the edge. One of the methods to solve this problem is the cost minimization method. In the cost minimization method, cost elements and cost functions are defined and used. The cost function calculates the cost for the candidate edge model generated according to the candidate edge generation strategy, and if the cost is found to be satisfactory, the candidate edge model becomes the edge for the image. In this study, we proposed an enhanced candidate edge generation strategy to discover edges for more diverse types of images in order to improve the shortcoming of the cost minimization method, which is that it only discovers edges of a defined type. As a result, improved edge detection results were confirmed.
Recently, research using unstructured data such as images and videos has been actively conducted in various fields. Edge detection is one of the most useful image enhancement techniques to improve the quality of the image process. However, it is very difficult to perform edge detection in noise images because the edges and noise having high frequency components. This paper uses a linear model and standard deviation as an effective edge detection method for noise images. The edge is detected by the difference between the standard deviation of the pixels included in the pixel block and the standard deviation of the residual obtained by fitting the linear model. The results of edge detection are compared with the results of the Sobel edge detector. In the original image, the Sobel edge detection result and the proposed edge detection result are similar. Proposed method was confirmed that the edge with reduced noise was detected in the various levels of noise images.

A RDB Storage Model based on the Edge-Labeled Graph is suggested for store the XML instance in Relational Databases(RDB). The XML instance being stored is represented by Data Graph based on the Edge-Labeled Graph. Data Path Table, Element, Attribute, and Table Index Table values are extracted. Then Database Schema is defined, and the extracted values are stored using the Mapper. In order to support querry, Repository Model offers the translator translating XQL which is used as query language under XPATH, into SQL. In addition, it creates DBtoXML generator restoring the stored XML instance. As a result, storage relationship between the XML instance and proposed model structure can be expressed in terms of Graph-based Path, and it shows the possibility of easy search of random Element and Attribute information.
In edge computing, most procedures, including data collection, data processing, and service provision, are handled at edge nodes and not in the central cloud. This decreases the processing burden on the central cloud, enabling fast responses to end-device service requests in addition to reducing bandwidth consumption. However, edge nodes have restricted computing, storage, and energy resources to support computation-intensive tasks such as processing deep neural network (DNN) inference. In this study, we analyze the effect of models with single and multiple local exits on DNN inference in an edge-computing environment. Our test results show that a single-exit model performs better with respect to the number of local exited samples, inference accuracy, and inference latency than a multi-exit model at all exit points. These results signify that higher accuracy can be achieved with less computation when a single-exit model is adopted. In edge computing infrastructure, it is therefore more efficient to adopt a DNN model with only one or a few exit points to provide a fast and reliable inference service.
In this study, cantilever cylindrical shells with edge-stiffeners are analyzed. A versatile 4-node flat shell element which is useful for the analysis of shell structures is used. An improved flat shell element is established by the combined use of the addition of non-conforming displacement modes and the substitute shear strain fields. Three models by load conditions are considered. Model A, B and C are loaded by point load at the free edge, line load and external pressure respectively. A various parameter examples are presented to obtain proper stiffened length and stiffened thickness of edge-stiffeners. It is shown that the thickness of shell can be reduced more than 50% for Model A, about $20{\sim}30%$ for Model B by appropriate edge-stiffeners.
Laser machining technique, which is used focusing pulse YAG laser beam irradiation was applied to form area ratio controlled model cut-edge on pre painted Zn coated steels. A corrosion behavior of formed model cut-edge was investigated by rest potential measurement in 1 mol $m^{-3}$ NaCl with and without 0.5 kmol $m^{-3}$$H_3BO_4$/0.05kmol$m^{-3}$$Na_2B_4O_7$. The rest potential showed almost constant value with fluctuations. The amplitude of fluctuations increased with exposed area of steel surface. White corrosion products of zinc oxide and simonkollite was formed after the experiments at the formed model cut-edge.
This paper presents a two-dimensional edge tone to predict the frequency characteristics of the discrete oscillations of a jet-edge feedback cycle by the finite difference lattice Boltzmann method (FDLBM). We use a new lattice BGK compressible fluid model that has an additional term and allow larger time increment comparing the conventional FDLBM, and also use a boundary fitted coordinates. The jet is chosen long enough in order to guarantee the parabolic velocity profile of the jet at the outlet, and the edge consists of a wedge with an angle of $\alpha=23^0$. At a stand-off distance $\omega$, the edge is inserted along the centreline of the jet, and a sinuous instability wave with real frequency f is assumed to be created in the vicinity of the nozzle and th propagate towards the downstream. We have succeeded in capturing very small pressure fluctuations result from periodically oscillation of jet around the edge. That pressure fluctuations propagate with the sound speed. Its interaction with the wedge produces an irrotational feedback field which, near the nozzle exit, is a periodic transverse flow producing the singularities at the nozzle lips. The lattice BGK model for compressible fluids is shown to be one of powerful tool for computing sound generation and propagation for a wide range of flows.

In the gas wiping process of continuous hot-dip galvanizing, edge overcoating develops near the edge of the steel strip. The overcoating is supposed to occur due to the reduced impact pressure of wiping gas on the strip surface. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of edge vortex on the reduced impact pressure. Three-dimensional unsteady flows are simulated using a commercial code, STAR-CD. Standard k-$\varepsilon$ model is used as a turbulence model. It is found that an alternating vortex structure in the vicinity of strip edge is developed by buckling of opposed jet streams and that the reduced amount of impact pressure at strip edge becomes smaller as the air knife gets closer to the strip. The effect of edge baffle on the reduced impact pressure is also investigated.

The edge ring placed on the outside of the electrostatic chuck (ESC) is a key component for protecting the ESC and controlling the etching uniformity of the edge of the wafer. Therefore, it is very important to understand the etching phenomenon of edge rings for edge ring management and equipment homeostasis. In this study, a specimen with SiO2 hard mask and underlying Si mold was installed on the edge ring surface and the etching results were measured by varying the edge ring 2MHz RF power. By developing PI-VM model with high prediction accuracy and analyzing the roles of key parameters in the model, we were able to evaluate the effect of plasma and sheath characteristics around the edge ring on edge ring erosion. This analysis method provided information necessary for edge ring maintenance and operation.

A lattice BGK model based on a finite difference scheme with an internal degree of freedom is employed and it is shown that a diatomic 9as such as air is successfully simulated In a weak compressive wane problem and Coutte flow, the validity and characteristics of the applied model are examined. With the model. furthermore. we present a 2-dimensional edge tones to predict the frequency characteristics of discrete oscillations of a jet-edge feedback cycle by the FDLB model (I.D.F FDLBM) in which any specific heat ratio $\gamma$ can be chosen freely. The jet is chosen long enough in order to guaranteed the Parabolic velocity profile of a jet at the outlet. and the edges have of an angle of $\alpha$=$23^{0}$ and $20^{0}$. A sinuous instability wane with real frequency resulting from Periodic oscillation of the jet around the edge is propagated on the upper and lower of wedge.
