광주지역 초등학교의 비만실태 및 식습관에 관한 조사 연구 (Prevalence of Obesity and Eating Habits of Elementary School Students in Kwangju)

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the prevalence of obesity and to examine the eating habits of elementary school students in Kwangju. The study was carried out on 931 students(male : 454, female : 477) in September and October of 1996. The results are summarized as follows ; Obesity was defined as body mass index(BMI) that exceeds 20. The rate of obesity was 10.0%(male 4.7$\%$, female 5.3$\%$) in subjects. Subjects were divided into 3 groups : normal group(BMI〈20), mildly obese group(20〈BMI〈25), and moderatly obese group(25〈BMI〈30), respectively. With regard to frequency of skipping breakfast, 9.1$\%$ of normal children and 17.5$\%$ of mildly obese children and 33.3$\%$ of moderately obese children had skipping every morning(p$\ll$0.001). With regard to the regularity of meal time, 62.1$\%$ of normal children had ‘regular meals’but 58.0$\%$ of mild obese children and 50.0$\%$ of moderate obese children had‘irregular meals’(p$\ll$0.05). With regard to meal volume, obese children consumed much more meal volume than normal children(breakfast p$\ll$0.001, lunch p〈0.005, dinner p$\ll$0.001). With regard to try to lose weight, 22.9$\%$ of normal children and 55.6$\%$ of mild obese children and 83.3$\%$ of moderated obese children indicated they had attempted(p$\ll$0.001). The results of this study showed that the prevalence of obesity in elementary school students in Kwangju has a tendency to be increased. Obese children need to correct their eating habits. This reasserts the importance of nutrition education in children through teachers, parents and dietitians. 경기 오산지역 중.고등학생의 체중과 식품섭취 및 섭식장애 경향 조사 (The Study on the Weight, Food Group Intake and Tendency of Eating Disorder of Adolescents in Osan GyeongGi Province)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the effect of eating behavior, physical status and tendency of eating disorder on the right eating habit. The subjects of this study were 324 middle school students and 340 high school students in Osan city GyeongGi province. The average of weight and height in the middle and high school students were 48.7kg, 160.0cm and 56.8kg, 164.8cm respectively. In PIBW values, 92.9% of middle school students and 99.1% of high school students were almost close to the average. The 28.5% of high school and 21.5% of middle school students were aware of themselves as overweight. The risk of eating disorders in high school students(16.4%) were higher than that in middle school students(4.9%). Moreover, the risk of eating disorders in girls high school students(19.3%) was significantly higher than those of middle school students(5.2%) (p<0.001). The thought of food problems were realized in 57.4% of in high school students and in 39.9% of in middle school students. The intake of food group frequency, middle school students ate more fruit than high school students(p<0.01). Boys ate more frequently soy beans (p<0.05) and algae(p<0.1) than girls in high school students. The meat intake was more frequent in high school students, but the eggs and milk were more in middle school students. The boys' intakes of fish and milk were more often than the girls' in high school students. Eating disorders and food intake frequency scores were closely correlated with weights(PIBW and the gap of ideal. weight with real weight). In conclusion, the education about realizing exact healthy body shape and how to modify behavior to prevent eating disorders should be planned since junior high school. Especially in high school girls, the variety food intake education would be needed. Proper recognition of the weight is required for good food intake and for prevent eating disorders.

광주지역 일부 산업체 남·녀 근로자의 식습관 인식 및 영향요인에 관한 질적 연구 (A Qualitative Study of the Awareness and Influencing Factors of the Dietary Habits of the Male and Female Workers' at a Manufacturing Facility in Gwangju)

  • Objectives: This paper aimed to provide an in-depth analysis of the factors influencing the dietary habits of male and female workers at a facility in Gwangju and their awareness of the same. Methods: A total of 32 workers were divided into eight groups based on work type, gender, and age, and focus group interviews (FGIs) were conducted. The FGIs included cognitive, behavioral, and environmental questionnaires based on dietary habits and the social cognitive theory. The interviews were analyzed by subject and sub-subject using audio recordings and transcriptions. Results: Male workers in the concerned company favored meat while female workers preferred vegetables, yet by and large, the preferences were irregular. Male workers living alone frequently ate ready meals and female workers often skipped meals. An analysis of the factors influencing the study subjects' dietary habits from the cognitive, behavioral, and environmental perspectives showed that the main factors negatively affecting their dietary habits were shiftwork, living alone, and drinking. Workers were unaware of these factors and their poor eating habits. Instead, male workers complained of poor cooking skills, while female workers complained of loneliness. Workers thus appeared to need the support of nutrition education and a counseling assistant to cope with this situation. Conclusions: The study identified the fact that the absence of nutrition education left the workers unaware of their poor eating habits. The workers would need counseling and support to help them build healthy dietary habits. It would also be necessary to focus on raising the workers' cognitive awareness of dietary habits and enhancing their behavioral ability to cope with bad eating habits through nutrition education that reflects the reality of their situation.

조리전공 남자대학생의 아침식사 빈도에 따른 식생활과 외식형태 (Dietary Life and Eating-Out Style Related to Breakfast Frequency of Male-Students in Culinary College)

  • This study was to investigate dietary life and eating-out style related to breakfast frequency of male students in culinary college. This survey was conducted using questionnaires for 110 male students at college in Hongseung. Mean height and body weight of those we investigated was 174 cm and 70.5 kg. The one to two times per week breakfast eating group was 34.55%, which is exceedingly numerous; none per week breakfast eating group was 30%; three to tow times per week breakfast eating group was 15.45%; everyday breakfast eating group was only 9.09%. The breakfast frequency was very low, and the not-eating breakfast problem is serious to think of in male college students. Mean weight, body fat and body mass index(BMI) of the everyday breakfast eating group was lower than the other group even it was not significant. The self-boarding house or dormitory living condition group was not eating breakfast was significant. So a correct dietary lift and eating habit should be taught further for male college students. The smoking group was a significant low frequency of breakfast eating, as well as the lower frequency of breakfast, or worse recognition of self health condition. Higher frequency of breakfast showed more contentment of self body weight. Cooked rice was significantly the most preferable for breakfast. The lower breakfast frequency tended to eat breads or cereals. The lower frequency of breakfast, self recognition of eating rate as speedier was significant, and tended to have a higher frequency of eating-out because of being annoyed by cooking. The lower breakfast frequency ate out more. Twenty five percent of the everyday breakfast eating group ate out because of a special day, and thirty five percent of the not eating breakfast group did so because of being annoyed by cooking. Their mean dietary evaluation grade was under the normal grade, which means that culinary college male students' dietary lives were poor. The lower frequency of breakfast and lower grade of food life evaluation, indicates the importance of nutritional breakfasts education should be improved for male culinary college students also.

전주 지역 일부 보육교사의 식행동 및 급식 지도 활동에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Dietary Behaviors of Day-Care Center Teachers and Their Meal Attitude Education during Meal Time in Jeonju Area of Korea)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the dietary behavior of day-care center teachers and their meal attitudes during meal time in Jeonju area. Self administered questionnaires were collected from 266 day-care center teachers who worked in a national(public) or private day-care center. The Statistical data analysis was conducted using SPSS v. 12.0. All subjects were women, and 64.7% were married(p<0.001), over more than 60% were junior college graduates(p<0.05), and 73.7% had salaries greater than 1,000,000 won(p<0.001). The breakfast skipping ratio of the subjects was very high, and about 66.5% of the respondents had irregular meals. The snack intake ratios of the subjects in private day-care centers were higher than the subjects in national(public) day-care centers(p<0.001). Approximately 56% of the subjects responded that education about eating is very important for providing balanced nutrition to young children. About 84% of subjects had no experience with the continuing-education program for teachers(p<0.01), and they wanted to know more about balanced nutrition. The meal attitude education score during meal time was $4.53{\pm}0.36$. The relationship between meal attitude education and the dietary behavior of day-care teachers was significantly different based on the "frequency of overeating"(p<0.05) and "self-recognition of eating habit"(p<0.05). These findings suggest that a nutrition education program for day-care center teachers should be developed so that they can effectively manage meal attitude education for young children and provide good nutrition for themselves.

ShadeEye NCC를 이용한 상악전치부 색조와 구강보건 및 식습관 관련 특성 비교 (Oral Health and Eating Habit Attributes Relating to the Maxillary Anterior Teeth Color by Using the ShadeEye NCC)

  • 본 연구에서는 외모에 가장 관심이 많은 20대 대학생들의 안면부 심미에 많은 영향을 미치는 상악전치부 치아의 색조를 치과용 측색기(Dental Colorimeter)를 이용하여 보다 객관적이고 과학적인 방법으로 측정하여 치아색조의 기초자료를 마련하고, 이를 토대로 20대 대학생들의 상악전치부색조와 구강보건 및 식습관관련 특성과의 관계를 알아보기 위해 본 연구를 시행하였다. 2011년 11월 14부터 12월 2일 동안 연구취지에 동의한 연구대상자 497명 중 부적절한 치아를 가진 자를 제외한 467명(남자 89, 여자 378) 대상자의 개개인마다 3개 치아즉 상악중절치, 상악측절치, 상악견치를 측정하여 총 1,401개의 치아를 측색하였고 구강보건 및 식습관관련 특성은 설문조사하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. 대상자의 상악전치부의 명도($L^*$)는 상악중절치($76.79{\pm}4.86$), 상악측절치($72.87{\pm}6.04$), 상악견치($69.72{\pm}4.62$)로 갈수록 명도는 감소하고, 적색채도($a^*$)는 상악중절치($2.02{\pm}2.00$), 상악측절치($3.27{\pm}2.38$), 상악견치($4.10{\pm}2.60$)로 갈수록 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 황색채도($b^*$)도 상악중절치($15.51{\pm}3.42$), 상악측절치($17.35{\pm}3.55$), 상악견치($20.10{\pm}3.46$)로 갈수록 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 2. 대상자의 일반적 특성에 따른 명도 차이를 비교한 결과, 성별(p<0.001), 전공별(p<0.001), 학년(p<0.001), 흡연 유무(p<0.001)별로 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 대상자의 일반적 특성에 따른 적색채도($a^*$) 차이를 비교한 결과 전공별(p<0.001)의 경우 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 대상자의 일반적 특성에 따른 황색채도($b^*$)를 비교한 결과 모두에서 유의한 차이가 나지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 3. 대상자의 구강보건 특성에 따른 명도 차이를 비교한 결과, 구강보건교육 경험유무(p<0.01), 일일 칫솔질 횟수(p< 0.001), 칫솔질 방법(p<0.05), 구강위생관리용품 사용유무(p<0.001)에 따라 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 대상자의 구강보건 특성에 따른 적색채도 차이를 비교한 결과 일일 칫솔질 횟수(p<0.05), 식후 칫솔질 시기(p<0.01), 구강위생관리용품 사용유무(p<0.01)에 따라 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 대상자의 구강보건 특성에 따른 황색채도 차이를 비교한 결과, 식후 칫솔질 시기(p<0.01), 주관적 치아색상(p<0.001)에 따라 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 4. 대상자의 식습관 관련 특성중 콜라와 사탕이 상악전치부 명도와 관련된 요인으로 나타났다($R^2=0.053$, p<0.05). 이상의 결과를 종합해 볼 때, 상악중절치 색조는 구강보건 및 식습관 관련 특성 중 성별, 학년, 흡연유무, 콜라, 사탕등에 따라 명도와 관련성을 나타냄을 알 수 있었고 정기적 스케일링은 적색채도와 관련성이 있었고 주관적 치아색상은 황색채도와 관련성이 있음을 알았다. 앞으로는 상악전치부 치아의 색조에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 해부학적 요인을 고려한 좀 더 심도 깊은 연구로 조사하여 분석을 시행한다면 치아색조와 관련되는 더 많은 요인을 규명해 볼 수 있을 것으로 생각된다.

인천지역 대표 중고등학교 여자 선수의 운동경기 종목별 건강 및 식습관에 관한 조사 (A Survey on Self-reported Health and Eating Habit of Elite Female Adolescent Athletes in Incheon by Sport Type)

  • 인천지 역 대표선수인 중ㆍ고등학교 여 자 펜싱 , 사격 , 육상, 수영 선수 총 102명을 대상으로 건강과 식습관에 대해 설문조사를 시행하였으며 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 전 체 조사대 상자 중 35.9%가 현재 비타민 및 철분 보충제를 섭취하고 있다고 응답하였으며, 육상선수의 섭취율이 62.5%로 운동경기 종목별 유의적 차이를 보였다. 본인이 인식하는 건강상태는 전체 조사대상자의 65.3%가 '보통이다', 21%가 '좋다'고 응답하였고, 건강에 대한 관심정도는 전체 조사대상자의 69.5%가 보통이다', 25.3%가 '많다'고 응답하였다. 운동이 정신적 스트레스의 주요원인으로 나타났으며 운동과 관련된 스트레스가 펜싱&gt;사격&gt;육상)수영 순인 반면에 훈련 중 신체적 부담에 대해서는 수영&gt;육상&gt;펜싱&gt;사격 순으로 나타나서 운동경기 종목별 유의적 차이를 보였다. 훈련 중 현기증을 느낀 적이 있는가에 대해 사격선수가 다른 종목에 비해 유의적으로 적게 느끼는 것으로 나타났고, 생리 주기의 규칙성에 대해 절반이상이 "불규칙하다"고 응답하였다. 가장 문제가 되는 식습관에 대해 결식&gt;폭식&gt;편식&gt;맵고 짠 음식선호 순으로 응답하였다. 주로 결식하는 끼니로 펜싱과 사격선수는 아침식사를, 육상과 수영선수는 저녁식사를 주로 걸러서 유의적 차이를 보였다. 결식빈도에 대해 펜싱&gt;사격&gt;육상&gt;수영 순으로 자주 결식하는 것으로 나타나서 운동경기 종목별 유의적 차이를 보였다. 아침식사의 규칙성에 대해 펜싱과 사격선수가 육상과 수영선수에 비해 '불규칙하다'고 응답한 비율이 유의적으로 높았다 주로 섭취하는 간식으로는 스낵 및 과자류, 탄산음료, 초콜릿, 사탕류&gt;우유, 요구르트, 아이스크림 등 유제품&gt;빵, 케이크, 떡(볶이)&gt;라면&gt;햄버거, 피자 순으로 나타났다. 이상의 결과로부터 인천지역 대표 여자 운동선수의 건강과 식습관은 운동종목별로 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 그러므로, 이들 청소년 대표 여자 운동선수의 운동수행 능력과 건강을 위해 올바른 식습관 형성을 위한 영양상담 및 교육프로그램이 운동종목별로 다양하게 개발되어 실용화되어야 할 것이다.

경주지역 유치원 아동들의 식습관과 영양소 섭취상태 (The Status of Eating Habits and Nutrient Intakes of Preschool Children in Kyungjoo)

  • The purpose of this study is to estimate the nutrient intakes and food habits among preschool children in Kyungjoo city. The subjects were 210 preschool children, aged 4 - 6 years. Measurements of the weight, height, chest circumference, and head circumference of the children were conducted. And general home environment and factors related to eating habits for preschool children were collected using a questionnaire that included information about family income, parents' education and occupations. The average weight-length index (WLI) for the subjects was $103.9\%$. Using the WLI, $20.0\%$ of the preschool children were underweight, $48.6\%$ were normal, $19.0\%$ were overweight, and $12.3\%$ were obese. On the R$\ddot{o}$hrer index, $13.8\%$ of the preschool children were underweight, $38.5\%$ were normal, and $47.7\%$ were over weight or obese. The average daily intake ($\%$ of RDA) of energy and each nutrient was 1323.5 kcal ($81.3\%$), Ca 484.3 mg ($80.7\%$), Fe 7.05 mg ($88.1\%$), vitamin A 420.0 RE ($105\%$), vitamin $B_{2}$ 0.76 mg ($95.0\%$), vitamin $B_{2}$ 0.87 mg ($87.0\%$), and vitamin C 53.1 mg ($106.2\%$) , respectively. In particular, older subjects had lower intake in RDA $%$ of calcium and iron. The energy intake ratio from snacks was much higher than the recommended level of the preschool children. With regard to frequency of regularity of breakfast, $1.9\%$ of preschool children skipped every morning and $7.6\%$ of the children skipped more than 5 per week. With regard to the intake frequency of vegetables, fruits, complex carbohydrates, and milk, $13.3\%$, $19.9\%$, $22.8\%$, and $41.8\%$ of the children ate more than 5 times per week. The eating habit score was positively correlated (r = 0.18, P < 0.05) with household income. This study suggests that nutrition education to increase fruit and vegetable consumption for preschool children should be emphasized. Also a nutrition education program is needed to enhance consuming calcium and iron intake for adequate growth.

용인지역 고등학생의 식품표시제에 대한 인식도 (Recognition of Food Labeling of High School Students in Yongin Region)

  • This study investigated recognition of food labeling of high school students (males 94 and females 85) in Yongin region. Recognition of food labeling was very high at 81.6%. For checking food labeling at the time of purchasing, 53.6% of the respondents always checked and the main reason was healthier food choice (49.2%). Satisfaction of food labeling was very low at 18.4%. In spite of very low satisfaction, 70.9% of respondents recognized necessity for education of food labeling. In terms of education method, respondents preferred 'school lecture' the most with 48.6%, which are in the following order: TV/newspaper/journal/book (37.4%) > internet lecture (10.1%) > education from parents (3.9%). Moreover, 83.2% of respondents answered 'positive change (ex. checking food labeling)' after getting education. Consequently, high school students had low level of utilization of food labeling at the time of purchasing. However, they showed high level of perception and educational need of food labeling as well as possibility of positive change after receiving education. Therefore, appropriate school education for food labeling may be able to lead a healthy eating habit of high school students.

유아조리교육의 동기 및 교육내용의 고려사항에 따른 교육효과에 대한 연구: 교사의 인지를 중심으로 하여 (Teacher's Perception of Children Culinary Education Effectiveness by the Education's Motive and Contents Consideration)

  • This study aimed to investigate the impacts of children's culinary education motive and contents consideration on teachers perception of education effectiveness. The data was gathered from 226 of preschool teachers providing culinary education programs using the five-Likert scales. The preschools were chosen from three randomly selected districts in Seoul, South Korea. Descriptive analysis, factor analysis, and regression analysis were utilized for this study. The result indicate that culinary educators designed the contents of the program considering their convenience when their motive is passive, whereas others focussed on the educational purpose such as children's eating habit formulation, team work, and development of taste sense when their motive is active. The result also confirmed that culinary educators perceived the educational effectiveness (e.g., children's development of body, team work, and creativeness) in the course of designing culinary education contents when focusing on children's education.
