유아기 아동의 사회적 능력: 수줍음 및 자녀의 또래관계에 대한 어머니의 개입행동과의 관계 (Young Children's Social Competence: Its Relations with Their Shyness and Maternal Involvement in Children's Peer Relations)

  • The main purpose of this study was to examine the relations of children's shyness and maternal involvement in children's peer relations to children's social competence, and the relative influence of children's shyness and maternal involvement in children's peer relations on children's social competence. 195 mothers of 3-year-olds and their 13 teachers in Seoul and Gyeonggi province participated in the study. The data were obtained using three kinds of questionnaires regarding shyness, parental involvement, and social competence. Findings revealed that shy children showed less popularity leadership and social participation for both boys and girls. The more orchestrations mothers exerted, the more popularity leadership boys showed. And the more advice and support mothers provided, the more interpersonal adjustment girls showed. For boys, shyness was more influential on popularity leadership than maternal orchestrations were. Findings are discussed in terms of the role of shyness in children's early social competence for both boys and girls.

유아기 자녀의 조기교육 실태와 어머니의 양육 신념, 양육 스트레스 및 성취 압력과의 관계 (The Relationship between Current Trend of Early Education and Maternal Parental Beliefs, Stress, and Achievement Pressure)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the current trend of early education and to examine the relationship between the state of early education and maternal beliefs, stress, and achievement pressure. The subjects were 275 mothers of 4∼6 year-old children in Seoul. The main results were as follows : 1) Most of the subjects' children(87.6%) were involved in early education, especially in the form of home-visit study and study papers. 2) Parental beliefs (about child development and early education) and maternal achievement pressure were significantly related to the degree of actual involvement and perceived necessity of early education. 3) Parental stress regarding child's temperament was significantly related to the starting age of early education. But the other factors of parental stress had no significant relation to the state of early education.

Living Labs as boundary-spanners between Triple Helix actors

  • Living labs are an increasingly popular methodology to enhance innovation. Living labs aim to span boundaries between different organizations, among others Triple helix actors, by acting as a network organization typically in a real-life environment to foster co-creation by user-groups. This paper presents critical factors of Living labs in boundary-spanning between Triple Helix actors. Derived from a mixed-method approach and applications in the healthcare sector, the three main critical factors turn out to be 1) an adequate user-group selection and involvement, specifically a rich interaction and absorption of its results, 2) a balanced involvement of all relevant actors, and 3) a sufficient (early) attention for values, both values of user-groups and values of the management. People-oriented Living labs tend to differ from institution-oriented Living labs regarding these critical factors. Further, universities tend to take on diverse roles and strength of involvement, while the business sector tends to be actively involved only if this has been set as an explicit aim at start. The paper closes with a summary and future research paths.

중학생 자녀를 둔 한국 아버지의 양육참여 척도의 개발 - 중학생 자녀와 아버지간의 상호작용을 중심으로 - (Development a Korean Scale of Paternal Involvement in the Early Adolescence of Their Children)

  • The preliminary Korean Paternal Involvement Scale of 84 items was constructed from items collected from free-response surveys with 106 middle school students and 33 fathers followed by consultation with experts. Those items were tested on a sample of 339 middle school students. The 82 items selected through item analysis were analyzed by factor analysis. Of these, 54 items were categorized into seven factors : leisure-life, proffering information, discipline, academic support, tradition-inheritance, material support, and everyday life. Leisure-life, proffering information, and academic support correlated with grade level of adolescents and fathers' education. The alpha coefficients of this scale ranged from .68 to .90.

저소득.일반가정 유아의 학습관련 기술과 초기학습능력: 어머니 교육참여의 조절효과를 중심으로 (Learning-related Skills and Academic Abilities of Young Children: The Moderating Effects of Their Mothers' Involvement)

  • This study investigated the effects of young children's learning-related skills and the maternal involvement on academic abilities. The sample consisted of 310 children from 7 child-care centers located in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. All variables were measured by the teachers and the mothers of surveyed children. The instrument included the Korean Child Development Inventory(K-CDI) for 4 to 6-year olds and Preschool Learning Behavior Scale(McDermott et al 2000) and the questionnaire on mother's involvement about their children's education. The collected data was analyzed by t-test and hierarchical regression using the SPSS Program. The findings are as follows. First, regardless of the family income level, verbal comprehension and numerical abilities were positively associated with their learning-related skills of young children. Second, the interaction effect of learning-related skills and the mothers' involvement on verbal comprehension of young children in the low-income families was observed. However, no interaction effect was seen in terms of learning-related skills and the maternal involvement on verbal comprehension and numerical abilities of young children in the high-income families. These findings highlight the importance of learning-related skills and their mothers' involvement during the preschool period for the low-income family in improving the early academic achievement.

류마티스 관절염환자에서 폐침범의 진단에 있어서 면역학적 지표와 폐기능 검사의 유용성 (The Utility of Immunological Markers and Pulmonary Function Test in the Early Diagnosis of Pulmonary Involvement in the Patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis)

  • 연구배경: 류마티스 관절염 환자에서 폐침범의 빈도는 10~50%로 보고되어 있고 사망의 주요원인으로 알려져 있다. 따라서 최근에 면역학 및 방사선학의 발달과 더불어 폐침범의 조기진단에 대한 관심이 증가되고 있다. 방법: 1990년 3월부터 1995년 7월까지 본원에 입원한 환자중 임상소견과 흉부 고해상도 컴퓨터 단층 촬영상 폐침범 소견을 보였던 29명의 환자와 임상적 소견 및 검사소견상 폐침범이 없었던 연령 범위가 같은 18명의 환자에서 면역학적 지표와 폐기능 검사소견을 비교하여 비침습적 검사를 이용한 폐침범의 조기 진단에 유용한 지료플 찾고자 하였다. 결과: 1) 남녀의 비는 폐침범군의 경우 1 : 1.07이었고 대조군의 경우 18명 모두 여자이었으며 그중 흡연력은 폐침범군에서 31%(9/29)였으며 대조군은 없었다. 2) 류마티스 인자는 폐침범군의 경우 96.5%(28/29)에서 양성이였으며 대조군의 경우 100%(18/18)에서 양성이었다(p=0.12). 3) 항핵주변인자는 폐침범군의 경우 86.9%(20/23, 평균치: 2.0)에서 양성이었고 대조군의 경우 50%(8/16, 평균치: 1.1)에서 양성으로 유의한 차이가 있었다.(p=0.04). 4) 항핵항체는 폐침범군의 경우 60.7%(17/28)에서 양성이었고 대조군의 경우 72.2%(13/18)에서 양성이었다.(p=0.33). 5) Cryoglobulin은 폐침범군의 경우 72%(18/25)에서 양성이었고 대조군의 경우 56.2%(9/16)에서 양성으로 유의한 차이가 있었다(p=0.02). 6) 골 미란은 폐침범군의 경우 61.5%(16/26)에서 양성이었으며 대조군의 경우 77.7%(14/18)에서 양성이었다(p=0.8). 7) 폐기능 검사상 폐포량으로 교정된 폐확산능치와 페잔기량은 폐침범군의 경우평균값이 각각 1.07mmol/min/KPa(predicted value: 64.2%)와 1.32L(70%)이었고 대조군은 1.44mmol/min/KPa(78.1%)와 3.75L(86.6%)으로 유의한 차이가 있었다(p=0.003, p=0.004). 총폐용적과 최대자발성호흡량은 폐침범군의 평균값이 각각 3.98L(102.9%)와 70.63L/min(101.6%)이었고 대조군은 4.0L(87.4%)와 74.59L/min(100.9%)이었디(p=0.51, p=0.42). 결론: 결론적으로 류마티스 관절염 환자에서 폐침범을 진단하는데 있어서 혈청학적 검사중 항핵주변인자와 cryoglobulin, 폐기능 검사상 폐잔기량과 폐확산능의 측정은 유효한 지표로 사용될 수 있겠다.

초기청소년의 건강한 성을 위한 프로그램 개발 (The Development of a Healthy Sexuality Education Program for Early Adolescent)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a sexuality education program for early adolescents. The overall goals of the program were to not only increase knowledge and skirts, but also to improve the awareness of healthy sex in order to promote premarital abstinence, parent-teen communication and parental awareness of the importance of parental roles and responsibilities in prevention of sexual problems of the early adolescent. The program consisted of six sessions: puberty changes during adolescence, the meaning of sexuality, sexual drives in dating relationships, understanding of the risks associated with early sexual involvement and support for postponing sexual activities, managing and avoiding sexually risky situations, the importance of communications with parents about issues related to sexuality. The program evaluation had three steps: pre-test, immediate post-test and two month follow-up post test. The results showed that the program had a significantly positive effect on the improvement of adolescent's knowledge about sex, and attitudes and behaviors toward sex, particularly in the immediate post-test. At the two month follow-up assessment, the effect of the program still remained strong, though there was a sight and partial reduction which was not statistically significant. Most of the program participants expressed a high level of satisfaction with the program. Parental involvement appeared to be effective as well. Recommendations for further study include: to re-evaluate the curriculum for various other participants. In addition, further study which would compare post-test results of these participants with a comparison group of peers who did not receive the program would be valuable. The author believes that the program can be used in implementing specific subjects (sessions) in new settings, as well as implementing the entire package of the program.

유아기 자녀를 둔 아버지의 생산적 아버지노릇 : 척도 개발 연구 (Development of the Generative Fathering Scale)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop the generative fathering scale to measure fathers' active involvement of parenting. Subjects were 188 fathers of early childhood from Jeonju. To begin with, the concept of generative fathering was discussed in the theoretical review, and then the measurement was comprised of two dimensions(the parental involvement of fathers and paternal responsibility) The parental involvement of fathers : thirty of 37 items were selected through the item analysis, and that 30 items were analyzed by factor analysis. The result of factor analysis indicated that the parental involvement of fathers comprised of three factors(developmental support, caregiving and monitoring, shared activities). paternal responsibility : this was analyzed through the same process above, two factors(responsibility as a resource provider and responsibility as a child-rearing)were extracted by factor analysis. The construct validity was supported and the internal consistency of this two sub-scale appeared to be at an acceptable level, and were considered to be useful way to measure generative fathering.

유아학습행동 유형에 따른 유아의 자기조절, 인지양식, 문제행동과 어머니의 양육신념, 학습지원행동 (Preschooler's Characteristics, Mother's Beliefs and Involvement According to Preschool Learning Behaviors)

  • This study employed a child-centered approach in the examination of patterns of preschooler's learning behaviors. A hierarchical cluster analysis was employed in order to discern a meaningful typology of such behavior. The subjects consisted of 232 children (117 boys, 106 girls) and their mothers from 6 kindergartens and 6 day care centers. The results of this study were as follows. The cluster analysis yielded five types of learning behaviors; the competent type, the average type, the low attention/persistence type, the low motivation -attitude type, and the deficient type. The most consistent level differences among these types appeared to lie in distinctions among the average Attention/Persistence scores. The composition of the cluster types, including both the age and gender of the children, was ascertained. Our results indicated that preschool learning behavior types could be seen to differentially relate to children's self-regulation, cognitive styles, problem behaviors, and the level of maternal involvement. It was revealed that a child's characteristics was more important than maternal involvement and beliefs. As there were more girls and older children in the learning type, this type was seen to be more competent.

유아교육·보육기관 평가인정제 개발 연구 (Accreditation Standards and Procedures for Institutions of Early Childhood Education and Care)

  • A large sample (1090) of randomly selected early childhood education professionals and government officials rated each of the 133 standards of "A Model for Institutional Accreditation for Early Childhood Education and Care"(Yang, 1999) on a scale of 1 (least important) to 5 (most important). Findings were that all kindergartens and child care centers should be evaluated for accreditation every 3 years with 3-6 months for self-study and on-site validation visits by representatives of the appropritates agencies for 1-2 days. Evaluation results are should be used by institution personnel as a guide to self-supervision, by government officials as a funding standard and by parents as criteria of program quality. Essential accreditation standards included: facilities and equipment; curriculum; nutrition, health and safety; administration and management; and support systems. Safety and teacher-child interactions were most highly rated while parent involvement was not highly rated.
