  • The advantage of electric taxies is that people who are not familiar with electric vehicle(EV) can have easily experience to ride EV. So, EV taxi would be a reasonable strategy for triggering EV market expansion. However, the EV taxi can be adopted by taxi companies with financial benefits. Therefore the feasibility study should be required by analyzing the cost with the points of view of the taxi company. In this study we suggested the methodology for feasibility study of the EV taxi based on the real taxi data and presented political implication. According to the study result, EV taxies could have economic value under the specific conditions such that the government subsidy is added to the purchase price of the vehicle. Also, the charging time should be used as drivers' rest time or mealtime in order not to consider the loss cost. We suggest that the new feasibility study which compares an EV taxi with other alternative vehicles such as PHEV or with an old EV taxi is needed as the future works.

  • Recently, many countries are researching and developing the various Electric Vehicle(EV) for reserving their natural environments and so on. But the charging time that is longer than the time of filling up the traditional engine vehicle will be the obstacles of spreading them. So, the other type EV is developed. It is the Battery Changeable EV. But there is not testing method for it. Especially, the defining of the durability evaluation for the couplers between battery and charger is very important because the couplers are changed very frequently. So, they may cause many faults and problems. Therefore, this study shows the definition of the durability procedure and the test is conducted with the equipment.

  • Switched reluctance motor (SRM) is suitable for electric vehicle (EV) applications with the advantages of simple structure, good overload capability, and inherent fault-tolerance performance. The SRM dynamic simulation model is built based on torque, voltage, and flux linkage equations. The EV model is built on the basis of the analysis of forces acting on a vehicle. The entire speed range of the SRM drive is then divided into constant torque and constant power areas. The command torque of the motor drive system is given according to the accelerator pedal coefficient and motor operation areas. A novel adaptive variable angle control is proposed to avoid the switching chattering between the current chopping control and angle position control modes in SRM drives for EV applications. Finally, simulation analysis and experimental results are conducted to verify the accuracy of the proposed simulation model and control strategy.

  • Recently, it is increased to apply sensorless drive for BLDC (Brushless DC) motor to maximize operating efficiency and fuel efficiency to an electrical component of (H)EV. Especially, Electric vehicle component promotes a fuel efficiency enhancement by the carbon dioxide emissions regulation of a vehicle becoming the principal of the environmental pollution globally, the oil price hike that continued increasingly. We suggested the air compressor which applied BLDC motor for electric vehicle component and compared suggested BLDC motor with the conventional DC motor. The experimental results show that the driving efficiency was increased and was inproved compressive force by suggested BLDC motor.

  • This paper introduces a novel system-level framework that derives energy efficient electric vehicle (EV) driving speed profile to extend EV driving range without additional cost. This paper first implements an EV power train model considering forces acting on a driving vehicle and motor efficiency. Then, it derivate the minimum-energy driving speed profile for a given driving mission defined by the route. This framework first formulates an optimization problem and uses the dynamic programming algorithm with a weighting factor to derive a speed profile minimizing both of energy consumption and driving time. This paper introduces various weighting factor tracking methods to satisfy the driving time constraint. Simulation results show that runtime of the proposed scaling algorithm is 34% and 50% smaller than those of the binary search algorithm and greedy algorithm, respectively.

  • Electric vehicles are widely produced from many car manufacturers around the world instead of internal combustion engine vehicle in order to respond a variety of environmental regulations. Also, they are applying for modular design method to develop plenty of the vehicles. And, both of these two issues will be an important trend to lead the future global automobile industries for a long time. In this paper, new brake architecture concept is proposed in order to respond to such a situation. First, physical interfaces between brake system like caliper, disc and other counter-parts are established for modular assembly. Second, we analyze effective factors of brake system for electric vehicles which need to reflect vehicle specifications such as total vehicle weight. Here, we consider ideal brake force by critical deceleration. Third, we simulate accumulated regenerative brake energy for two main driving modes to confirm to effectiveness for a variety of Electric Vehicle. Finally, we hope that it contributes to implement brake architecture for the development of Electric Vehicle platform through such a study.

  • Worldwide Electric Vehicle (EV) sales are rapidly increasing. But in many cases, charging locations can be found within or near downtown area of the city which makes EV users living outskirts of the city very difficult to establish their daily EV charging routines. In order to improve this situation, we have come up with a daily EV charge service connected with convenience stores and restaurants within reach of most EV users living in South Korea. We aim to allow users to charge their EVs while they shop and eat, just as if they charge their smartphones at cafes and restaurants. We have gone through user diary research and focus group interview research to figure out current user's concerns regarding charging and maintenance of EVs and applied the findings to our proposed service design.

  • Power quality problems caused by feeder voltage drop and extension construction cost problems can occur with the increasing utilization rates of the existing fixed-type EV (electric vehicle) charger. Moreover, EV users might not be able to access the EV charger due to a lack of EV charging facilities. Therefore, this paper proposes an MPSD (movable power supply device) for EVs to overcome user inconvenience caused by the insufficient number of chargers and extension cost issues. The proposed MPSD was mainly composed of a PV (photovoltaic) system, ESS (energy storage system), EV charging system, and monitoring and control system. Furthermore, there are three operation modes available to enhance the flexibility of the MPSD application, depending on the situation. This paper also presents an economical evaluation modeling using the present worth method to consider the cost and benefit elements. The simulation results based on proposed modeling showed that MPSD is more economical than the existing EV charger. Moreover, its profit can be increased significantly depending on the distance to the installation point.

And environment-friendly vehicle is being magnified because of energy saving and minimization of environmental pollution. In the future, the construction of EV charging facilities will be needed for Prevalence of EV in the Public Housing. So in this paper, we survey and analyze data of power usage and owned vehicles on the existing public housing according to season, day and time. And, we reviewed appropriate configuration ratio according to three kind of case. Besides, we calculate Prevalence Estimates of EV and utilization factor based on analysis result. • This paper proposes a DC-DC converter that satisfies a wide output voltage of 150 V-1000 V for the battery voltage of various electric vehicles and can be controlled in both directions for the demand resource of electric vehicles. The proposed converter is a two-stage structure in which an insulated converter and a non-isolated converter are combined and operates as constant current or constant power depending on the voltage of the connected battery. Experimental results from a 20 kW prototype are provided to validate the proposed charger, and a maximum efficiency of 97% is obtained.
