A Study on the Mixed Usage of Logical Block and Moving Block in CBTC System (CBTC 시스템에서 논리 폐색과 이동 폐색의 혼용에 관한 연구)

  • This paper proposes a CBTC wayside signaling system, which redeems existing track-circuit-based ones by using movement authorities mixed with logical block and moving block. Only one train can be entered into the logical block or the route for existing wayside signaling system. Applying moving block for CBTC system enables the train to get nearer to the preceding one, because its protection mechanism uses train's safe boundary, not fixed block unit. By narrowing the existing route set to switch machine and applying the moving block beyond that area, more than one train can enter into one route area. This paper shows that the efficient train control, i.e. shortening the headway, is possible using the moving block mixed with logical block in wayside signaling system.

  • In order to protect secret digital documents against vulnerabilities while communicating, steganography algorithms are applied. It protects a digital file from unauthorized access by hiding the entire content. Pixel-value-difference being a method from spatial domain steganography utilizes the difference gap between neighbor pixels to fulfill the same. The proposed approach is a block-wise embedding process where blocks of variable size are chosen from the cover image, therefore, a stream of secret digital contents is hidden. Least significant bit (LSB) substitution method is applied as an adaptive mechanism and optimal pixel adjustment process (OPAP) is used to minimize the error rate. The proposed application succeeds to maintain good hiding capacity and better signal-to-noise ratio when compared against other existing methods. Any means of digital communication specially e-Governance applications could be highly benefited from this approach.

  • Corrected Block TEA(or XXTEA) is a block cipher designed to correct security weakness in the original block TEA in 1998. In this paper, XXTEA cipher hardware which can encrypt or decrypt between 64-bit and 256-bit messages using 128-bit master key is implemented. Minimum message block size is 64-bit wide and maximal message block size is 256-bit wide. The designed XXTEA can encrypt and decrypt variable-length message blocks which are some arbitrary multiple of 32 bits in message block sizes. XXTEA core of this paper is described using Verilog-HDL and downloaded on Vertex4. The operation frequency is 177MHz. The maximum throughput for 64-bit message blocks is 174Mbps and that of 256-bit message blocks is 467Mbps. The cryptographic IP of this paper is applicable as security module of the mobile areas such as smart card, internet banking, e-commerce and IoT.

A Hybrid Texture Coding Method for Fast Texture Mapping

  • An efficient texture compression method is proposed based on a block matching process between the current block and the previously encoded blocks. Texture mapping is widely used to improve the quality of rendering results in real-time applications. For fast texture mapping, it is important to find an optimal trade-off between compression efficiency and computational complexity. Low-complexity methods (e.g., ETC1 and DXT1) have often been adopted in real-time rendering applications because conventional compression methods (e.g., JPEG) achieve a high compression ratio at the cost of high complexity. We propose a block matching-based compression method that can achieve a higher compression ratio than ETC1 and DXT1 while maintaining computational complexity lower than that of JPEG. Through a comparison between the proposed method and existing compression methods, we confirm our expectations on the performance of the proposed method.

  • This paper presents the analysis technique and procedure of main engine components-cylinder block, cylinder liners, gasket and cylinder head-using the finite element method, which aims to assess mainly the potential of lower oil consumption in a view point of engine design and to decide subsequently the accuracy of engine design which was done. The F.E. model of an engine section consisting of one whole cylinder and two adjacent half cylinders is used, whereby the crankcase is cut off at the block bottom deck. By means of a 3-dimensional F.E. model-including cylinder block, liners, gasket, cylinder head, bolts and valve seat rings as separate parts a linear analysis of deformations and stresses was performed for three different loading conditions;assembly, thermal and gas loads. For the analysis of thermal boundary conditions also the temperature field had to be evaluated in a subsequent step.

  • Orthogonally protected block copolymers of based on p-hydroxystyrene were prepared with high control via nitroxy mediated radical polymerization using an alkoxyamine as an unimolecular initiator. Thin films of partially protected block copolymer were prepared by spin or dip coating. A well defined nanostructure could be observed as a result of phase separation e.g. cylinders in a matrix oriented perpendicular or parallel to the substrate. The nanostructure of the polymeric films can be defined by the block copolymer composition and it determines surface properties and allows further, selective functionalization, e.g. via click chemistry. The thin films can be designed in a way to allow a patterning based on a thermal or photochemical stimulus.

  • 본 논문에서는 블록 FEC(Forward Error Correction) 알고리즘을 적용한 IEEE 802.11e MAC(Medium Access Control)의 블록전송모드(Block Transfer Mode)의 성능을 분석한다. 성능 향상을 위해서 IEEE 802.11e MAC은 TXOP(Transmission Opportunity)시간 동안 특정 스테이션(station)에게 독점적인 전송 기회를 부여하며, 이 기간동안 하나의 블록 즉 연속적으로 여러 개의 데이터 프레임(frame)을 전송한다. 수신자는 블록내의 각 프레임에 수신 여부를 블록 ack (block Acknowledgment)방식, 즉 하나의 ack 패킷이 모든 수신 프레임의 일련번호를 모아 알려 준다. 그러나 오류가 빈번한 무선 채널 환경에서는 블록 ack 방식을 사용하더라도 빈번한 재전송으로 인해 채널의 성능이 현저히 감소한다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 심볼 단위로 오류를 복원하는 블록 FEC 알고리즘을 적용할 수 있는데, 본 논문에서는 802.11e에서 FEC 알고리즘을 적응하는 두 가지 방식의 성능을 해석적으로 분석한다. 즉 두 가지 방식은 프레임 당 블록 FEC를 적용하는 방법과 전체 블록 내의 프레임을 하나의 데이터로 간주하여 FEC를 적용하는 방식이다. 본 논문에서는 이 들 두 가지 방식의 채널 성능 향상 정도와 블록 ack만을 사용한 경우의 성능을 수식적으로 계산한다. 실험에 의하면 BER이 $10^{-4}$인 채널 환경에서 블록 FEC를 적용한 방식이 블록 ack를 사용한 방식에 비해 약 1.5%의 성능향상을 보인다.

  • Recently, as user feedback such as social reading become active, demand has been increased on e-book contents making which is based on user feedback. However, to reflect the user feedback onto the e-book, direct coding is required, which was difficult to the author who was not good at programming. To resolve this problem, Block assembly style feedback editor system, using Blockly was developed. This editor enables to reflect the user feedback by area allocation, component allocation, block editing, and code generating insertion, contrary to the existing way of programming realization in which direct coding was required for input, processing and output separately. This system was developed by using HTML. Javascript, PHP, and Codeigniter. Block editing is enabled to do provision and assembly of blocks by Blockly. The function of code generation & insertion allows to insert the Library function code. Through this system, the general users who are not capable of coding also can reflect feedback without doing actual coding.

  • We present an algorithm to find an approximation for the stationary distribution for the general ergodic spatially-inhomogeneous block-partitioned upper Hessenberg form. Our approximation makes use of an associated upper block-Hessenberg matrix which is spa-tially homogeneous except for a finite number of blocks. We treat the MAP/G/1 retrial queue and the retrial queue with two types of customer as specific instances and give some numerical examples. The numerical results suggest that our method is superior to the ordinary finite-truncation method.

Simulation of the Flexible Moving Blocks System to Shorten Headway of Subway Trains (지하철 운전시격 단축을 위한 이동폐색 시뮬레이션)

  • This paper proposes a simulation method of train control system to increase railroad transportation capacity in the Seoul Subway. Comparing with the conventional fixed block system, a new train operation method of "moving block system" shows a more capability of same railroad. A graphic simulation program is developed for application of moving block system to Seoul subway train control system. The result of the simulation program shows a shorten headway i.e. a more dense operation of trains and a higher efficiency of railroad with the suggested moving block system.
