  • The adaptability of dry rehydratable film for the qualitative evaluation of coliform bacteria and Escherichia coli was tested. In general, culture methods that employ lactose broth or desoxycholate lactose agar are used for qualitative tests of coliform bacteria. Culture using lactose broth showed a high detection yield and low selectivity when compared to the dry rehydratable film. However, culture methods that employ lactose broth required a long time(48 hrs) for qualitative tests of coliform bacteria and complicated procedures were required to prepare the medium. The detection of coliforms using desoxycholate lactose agar had a slightly higher selectivity than the dry rehydratable film method, but this difference was not statistically significant. However, the preparation of the desoxycholate lactose agar was complicated. EC broth for the detection of E. coli showed the highest detection yield and lowest selectivity; however, this method required complicated procedures for preparation of the medium as well. Overall, the dry rehydratable film had a slightly lower detection yield than the other methods. The detection yield of dry rehydratable film method was over 37.1% at a concentration of 1 cfu/$m{\ell}$. Additionally, the dry rehydratable film method showed high selectivity and did not require preparation. However, because the selectivity of the dry rehydratable film was high, it took a long time(36 hrs) to detect E. coli. Overall, these findings indicate that dry rehydratable film can be used for qualitative detection of coliforms and E. coli.

  • A study on water-based epoxy coated on mild steel using the electroplating method was conducted to optimize the process parameters for dry film thickness to achieve superior paint quality at optimal cost in an automotive plant. The regression model was used to adjust various parameters such as electrode voltage, bath temperature, processing time, non-volatile matter, and surface area to optimize the dry film thickness. The average dry film thickness computed using the model was in the range of 15 - 35 ㎛. The error in the computed dry film thickness with reference to the experimentally measured dry film thickness value was - 0.5809%, which was well within the acceptable limits of all paint shop standards. Our study showed that the dry film thickness on mild steel was more sensitive to electrode voltage and bath temperature than processing time. Further, the presence of non-volatile matter was found to have the maximum impact on dry film thickness.

  • Recently, frequency occurring flood and drought has increased the necessity of an effective water resources control and management of river flows. Therefore, the simulation of the flow distribution in natural rivers is great importance to the solution of a wide variety of practical flow problems in water resources engineering. However The serious problem facing two-dimensional hydraulic model is the treatment of wet and dry areas. The objective of this study is to investigate the wet and dry parameters that have direct relevance to model performance in situations where inundation of initially dry areas occurs. Several numerical simulations were carried out, which examined the performance of the marsh porosity method for the purpose of sensitivity analysis. Experimental channel and a variety of channel were performed for model tests. The results were compared with those of the observation data and simulation data of existing model. The RMA-2 model displayed reasonable flow distribution compare to the observation data and simulation data of existing model in dry area for application of natural river flow. As a result of this study, effectively applied marsh porosity method provide a reliable results for flow distribution of wet and dry area, it could be further developed to basis for extending to water quality and sediment transport analysis.

  • High oxidation temperature of SiC shows a tendency of carbide formation at the interface which results in poor MOSFET transfer characteristics. Thus we developed oxidation processes in order to get low interface charge densities. N-type 6H-SiC MOS capacitors were fabricated by different oxidation processes: dry, wet, and dryreoxidation. Gate oxidation and Ar anneal temperature was $1150^{\circ}C.$ Ar annealing was performed after gate oxidation for 30 minutes. Dry-reoxidation condition was $950^{\circ}C,$ H2O ambient for 2 hours. Gate oxide thickness of dry, wet and dry-reoxidation samples were 38.0 nm, 38.7 nm, 38.5 nm, respectively. Mo was adopted for gate electrode. To investigate quality of these gate oxide films, high frequency C- V measurement, gate oxide leakage current, and interface trapped charge densities (Dit) were measured. The interface trapped charge densities (Dit) measured by conductance method was about $4\times10^{10}[cm^{-1}eV^{-1}]$ for dry and wet oxidation, the lowest ever reported, and $1\times10^{11}[cm^{-1}eV^{-1}]$ for dry-reoxidation

  • This study was conducted to confirm the effect of drying method on quality of popped rice for making salyeotgangjung(popped rice lump with malt syrup) in process of drying gelatinized rice. The drying were performed at dry oven or convection oven, at $30^{\circ}C,\;50^{\circ}C\;and\;105^{\circ}C$, respectively. There were not significant differences in the hardness of popped rice among the drying methods. The dry at $30^{\circ}C$ constant in dry oven showed higher popping rate, good external surface, uniformed and well developed internal cell size. The dry at $30^{\circ}C$ in convection oven and $50^{\circ}C$ constant temperature in dry oven showed low expansion and poor external surface, respectively. In conclusion, the drying at $30^{\circ}C$ in non-convection oven had the highest quality of popped rice for salyeotgangjung.

  • This thesis researched for the conservation of a suit of armor that General Jung, Choong Sin had been worn in the 17th century, and of military uniform that was in perfect condition even though it had been underground for over 300years since 1676. As the armor was made with silk and cotton, it was treated by the dry cleaning method and the mild charge system. In the dry cleaning method, the used solvents were n-hexane and n-decane. And the percentage of the dry soap was 2 in the mild charge system. As the military uniform was made with only silk, it was treated by the dry cleaning method through the solvent of n-hexane and n-decane. Armor was repaired by scoured hemp partially, but military uniform became too deteriorated seriously to repair.

  • Opening size of 3 types of geotextile were tested using dry and wet sieving methods to evaluate characteristics of test methods and to compare the test results. Judging from test results, dry sieving method is a poor test, having many problems causing many errors but a simple-quick test. Wet sieving method is a very specific test avoiding many of the problems of dry sieving such as electrostatic charges, trapping in the geotextiles and so on. However, one of wet sieving tests, KSK ISO12956, takes long time to complete a test and is too strict to handle loss of granular material. Generally, opening size of a geotextile by wet sieving test is smaller than that of dry sieving test. Especially, opening size by KSF 2126 which is one of wet sieving test but disused at present anymore is similar or smaller than that by KSK ISO12956 method.

  • In this paper, a novel analytical method, Max-Min Approach (MMA), has been presented and applied to consider the nonlinear vibration of dry cask storage systems. The nonlinear governing equation of the structure has been developed using the shell theory. The MMA results are compared with numerical solutions derived by Runge-Kutta's Method (RKM). The results indicate a satisfying agreement between MMA and numerical solutions. Parametric studies have been conducted on the nonlinear frequency of dry casks. The phase-plan of the problem is also presented and discussed. The proposed approach can potentially ca be extended to highly nonlinear problems.
