The drowsiness that occurs in the driving is a very dangerous driver condition that can be directly linked to a major accident. In order to prevent drowsiness, there are traditional drowsiness detection methods to grasp the driver's condition, but there is a limit to the generalized driver's condition recognition that reflects the individual characteristics of drivers. In recent years, deep learning based state recognition studies have been proposed to recognize drivers' condition. Deep learning has the advantage of extracting features from a non-human machine and deriving a more generalized recognition model. In this study, we propose a more accurate state recognition model than the existing deep learning method by learning image and PPG at the same time to grasp driver's condition. This paper confirms the effect of driver's image and PPG data on drowsiness detection and experiment to see if it improves the performance of learning model when used together. We confirmed the accuracy improvement of around 3% when using image and PPG together than using image alone. In addition, the multimodal deep learning based model that classifies the driver's condition into three categories showed a classification accuracy of 96%.
The purpose of this study was to investigate misconceptions regarding the structure of flowers and the function of the course based on the 'Flower' section of 5th grade elementary school science courses. It also sought to investigate how misconceptions are changed before and after the application of a Driver learning model, and finally analysing any differences in the correction of misconceptions. A questionnaire was created for 199 5th grade elementary school pupils. The major results before and after using an applied Driver learning mode teaching plan are as follows: In the response for questions, 13.6% and 14.5% of misconceptions were corrected for male and female pupils, respectively. For rural and urban pupils, 14.8% and 11.2% of misconceptions were corrected, respectively. In the comparison of male and female pupils according to the reasons for selection of responses before and after using an applied Driver learning model teaching plan, 27.8% of male and 30.0% of female pupils scientific conceptions showed improvement. For rural and urban schools, 26.6% and 32.2% of scientific conceptions were improved, respectively. Data from this study may help teachers to reconsider their own conceptions regarding the study of the flower as it is presently conducted in elementary school.

In this paper, correlation analysis was performed between questionnaire and machine learning based aggressive tendency measurements. this study is part of a aggressive driver detection using machine learning and questionnaire. To collect two types tendency from questionnaire and measurements system, we constructed experiments environments and acquired the data from 30 drivers. In experiment, the machine learning based aggressive tendency measurements system was designed using a driver behavior detection model. And the model was constructed using accelerate and brake position data and hidden markov model method through supervised learning. We performed a correlation analysis between two types tendency using Pearson method. The result was represented to high correlation. The results will be utilize for fusing questionnaire and machine learning. Furthermore, It is verified that the machine learning based aggressive tendency is unique to each driver. The aggressive tendency of driver will be utilized as measurements for advanced driver assistance system such as attention assist, driver identification and anti-theft system.

Recently, due to the development of related technologies for autonomous vehicles, driving work is changing more safely. However, the development of support technologies for level 5 full autonomous driving is still insufficient. That is, even in the case of an autonomous vehicle, the driver needs to drive through forward attention while driving. In this paper, we propose a method to monitor driving tasks by recognizing driver behavior. The proposed method uses pre-trained deep convolutional neural network models to recognize whether the driver's face or body has unnecessary movement. The use of pre-trained Deep Convolitional Neural Network (DCNN) models enables high accuracy in relatively short time, and has the advantage of overcoming limitations in collecting a small number of driver behavior learning data. The proposed method can be applied to an intelligent vehicle safety driving support system, such as driver drowsy driving detection and abnormal driving detection.
In this paper, we newly propose a traffic information service model that collects traffic information sensed by an individual vehicle in real time by using a smart device, and which enables drivers to share traffic information on all roads in real time using an application installed on a smart device. In particular, when the driver requests traffic information for a specific area, the proposed driver-personalized service model provides him/her with traffic information on the driving directions in advance by predicting the driving directions of the vehicle based on the learning of the driving records of each driver. To do this, we propose a traffic information management model to process and manage in real time a large amount of online-generated traffic information and traffic information requests generated by each vehicle. We also propose a road node-based indexing technique to efficiently store and manage location-based traffic information provided by each vehicle. Finally, we propose a driving learning and prediction model based on the hidden Markov model to predict the driving directions of each driver based on the driver's driving records. We analyze the traffic information processing performance of the proposed model and the accuracy of the driving prediction model using traffic information collected from actual driving vehicles for the entire area of Seoul, as well as driving records and experimental data.

The use of big data for transportation often involves using data that includes personal information, such as the driver's driving routes and coordinates. This study explores the creation of a route choice prediction model using a large dataset from mobile navigation apps using federated learning. This privacy-focused method used distributed computing and individual device usage. This study established preprocessing and analysis methods for driver data that can be used in route choice modeling and compared the performance and characteristics of widely used learning methods with federated learning methods. The performance of the model through federated learning did not show significantly superior results compared to previous models, but there was no substantial difference in the prediction accuracy. In conclusion, federated learning-based prediction models can be utilized appropriately in areas sensitive to privacy without requiring relatively high predictive accuracy, such as a driver's preferred route choice.

In this paper, we analyzed driver's and passenger's motions that cause driver's distraction, and recognized 10 driver's behaviors related to mobile phones. First, distraction-inducing behaviors were classified into environments and factors, and related recent papers were analyzed. Based on the analyzed papers, 10 driver's behaviors related to cell phones, which are the main causes of distraction, were recognized. The experiment was conducted based on about 100,000 image data. Features were extracted through SURF and tested with three models (CNN, ResNet-101, and improved ResNet-101). The improved ResNet-101 model reduced training and validation errors by 8.2 times and 44.6 times compared to CNN, and the average precision and f1-score were maintained at a high level of 0.98. In addition, using CAM (class activation maps), it was reviewed whether the deep learning model used the cell phone object and location as the decisive cause when judging the driver's distraction behavior.
The driver's decision making (e.g. route choice) is a typical decision making with an uncertainty. In this paper, we investigate the effect of route guidance information on driver's route choice and learning behavior and analyse the potential of information system in a road network in which traffic flows follow random walk. A Simulation performed focuses on the relationship among the network wide performance, message receiving rates and driver's learning mechanism. We know that at high levels of message receiving rates, the network-wide performance may get worse. However, at low levels of receiving rates, we found that the travel time when guidance information is provided decrease compared to the cases when no pubic information is provided. Also, we found that the learning parameter of the learning mechanism model always changes under nonstationary traffic condition. In addition, learning process of drivers does not converge on any specific value. More investigation is needed to enlarge the scope of the study and to explore more deeply driver's behavior.
Moving toward an aged society, traffic accidents involving elderly drivers have also attracted broader public attention. A rapid increase of senior involvement in crashes calls for developing appropriate crash-severity prediction models specific to senior drivers. In that regard, this study leverages machine learning (ML) algorithms so as to predict the severity of vehicle-pedestrian collisions induced by elderly drivers. Specifically, four ML algorithms (i.e., Logistic model, K-nearest Neighbor (KNN), Random Forest (RF), and Support Vector Machine (SVM)) have been developed and compared. Our results show that Logistic model and SVM have outperformed their rivals in terms of the overall prediction accuracy, while precision measure exhibits in favor of RF. We also clarify that driver education and technology development would be effective countermeasures against severity risks of senior driver-induced collisions. These allow us to support informed decision making for policymakers to enhance public safety.

Most of the accidents occur due to drowsiness while driving, avoiding road signs and due to driver's distraction. Driver's distraction depends on various factors which include talking with passengers while driving, mood disorder, nervousness, anger, over-excitement, anxiety, loud music, illness, fatigue and different driver's head rotations due to change in yaw, pitch and roll angle. The contribution of this paper is two-fold. Firstly, a data set is generated for conducting different experiments on driver's distraction. Secondly, novel approaches are presented that use features based on facial points; especially the features computed using motion vectors and interpolation to detect a special type of driver's distraction, i.e., driver's head rotation due to change in yaw angle. These facial points are detected by Active Shape Model (ASM) and Boosted Regression with Markov Networks (BoRMaN). Various types of classifiers are trained and tested on different frames to decide about a driver's distraction. These approaches are also scale invariant. The results show that the approach that uses the novel ideas of motion vectors and interpolation outperforms other approaches in detection of driver's head rotation. We are able to achieve a percentage accuracy of 98.45 using Neural Network.
