  • Permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) is receiving increased attention for servo drive applications in recent years because of its high torque to inertia ratio, superior power density and high efficiency. Vector-controlled PMSM has the same operating characteristics as separately excited dc motor. The drive system of servo motor is requested to have an accurate response for the speed reference and a quick recovery for the disturbance such as load torque. However the dynamics of PMSM drive change greately by parameter variations. Morever, when the unkown and inaccessible disturbances are imposed on PMSM, the drive system is given a significant effect by them. As a result, the drive system with both a fast drive performance and a reduced sensitivity to parameter variations is requested. In this paper, the robust control system of PMSM with torque feedforward using load torque observer is presented. In the proposed system, load torque is estimated by the reduced order observer, and the robust control system against load torque variation is realized using the torque feedforward. Moreover, the design of speed controller with the torque observer is discussed. Simulation results show that the proposed method is effective for suppression of parameter variations and load disturbance.

  • This paper presents a design and characteristics analysis of a SRM drive for EPS application. A conventional driving room space and mechanical structure are suggested in design stage. In the restricted design conditions, motor parameters are determined for sufficient torque and speed. For the smooth torque generation and simple circuit of power system, 12/8 motor drive is considered. With FEM and magnetic circuit analysis, designed motor is simulated to meet the requirement of specifications. Effectiveness of the suggested SRM drive for EPS application is verified by the manufactured prototype motor drive tests.

  • Recently, a Elevator system is specially important in human life. Also a elevator door is important to a elevator system. In this paper, induction motor drive system using vector control was developed with high performance for elevator door system. For this, velocity pattern generation method was proposed. The proposed system is verified by experimental result with 400[w] induction motor drive system for the elevator door.

  • In an optical disk drive, a feeding system which is used to move the optical pick-up system to the target position and the proper control scheme of it are important in random access performance. Since the effect of control is directly affected by the modeling precision of the real system, the precise modeling to the real system should be acquired. Although a simple linear order modeling to the feeding system of an optical disk drive is useful in understanding of the overall dynamic characteristics, the dynamic characteristics which are belongs to the nonlinear area cannot be predicted correctly. Furthermore, the feeding system of an optical disk drive has many nonlinear characteristics such as a nonlinear friction and backlash. For this reason, the understanding of the nonlinear properties in the feeding system is very important. In this paper, the nonlinear items of the feeding system, friction and backlash, are introduced and the effect of it are investigated. Finally, the mathematical model considering the nonlinear properties is compared to the real system, and some comments of it are given.

고밀도 디스크 드라이브의 적응형 공진 보상 알고리즘 (Adaptive Suppression of Mechanical Resonance in High-Density Disk Drives)

  • The band-width of disk drive servo system is rapidly increasing for the robustness to external disturbance as the track density is increasing. The increase of the band-width may cause mechanical resonance of an actuator. In disk drive servo system, a notch filter is usually used to suppress the mechanical resonance of the actuator. However, the resonance frequency differs from drive to drive because of manufacturing tolerance and varies with temperature even within a single drive. The variation of resonance frequency degrades the suppression performance of the notch filter. In this paper, we present an adaptive digital notch filter that identifies the resonance frequency of the disk drive servo actutaor precisely and adjusts automatically its center frequency. For this, we design an adaptive FIR digital filter for the estimation of the resonance frequency. The estimation filter identifies the resonance frequency adaptively using the output signal generated from the servo system, which is excited with an excitation signal including all the expected resonance frequency components. We prove mathematically the convergence of the resonance frequency estimation filter. Furthermore, in order to demonstrate the practical use of our work, we present some experimental results using a commercially available disk drive.

  • Pitch drive system in wind turbine is composed by the planetary gear system to satisfied its required performance such as long life and light weight for gear train. When the planetary gear system can reduce its volume and weight, the power consumption of the wind turbine can be reduced. In this study, the planetary gear system of the pitch drive system in medium-sized wind turbine is obtained for weight reduction by shape optimization method. And the planetary gear system is verified for their strength by the structural analysis.

  • Hard Disk Drive (HDD) test system is an equipment for the final test of HDD product by iterative read/write/seek test. This paper proposes an expert system for the fault diagnosis of HDD test systems. The purposed expert system is composed with two cascade inference, fuzzy logic and conventional binary logic. The fuzzy logic determines the possibility of the system fault using the test history data, then, the binary logic inferences the fault location of the test system. The proposed expert system is tested in SAMSUNG HDD production line, KUMI, KOREA, and shows satisfactory results.

  • This paper proposes a fuzzy expert system for the fault diagnosis of Hard Disk Drive(HDD) test systems. The purposes of this system are diagnosis of HDD test systems, detection of system faults using test history, and presentation of the way of repair. Proposed Expert system is designed with Fuzzy logic and Binary Logic to present the way of repair using HDD tort result, HDD test history. The proposed system is simulated with actual data from SAMSUNG HDD product line in KUMI, KOREA, and show effective results.

  • 본 연구에서는 복합형 무인 회전익기의 로터드라이브시스템 개발 개념을 정립하기 위해 관련 특허를 조사하고 분석하였다. 특허를 로터드라이브시스템 개발의 관점에서 10개의 유사한 그룹별로 나누어 세부적인 검토 및 분석을 수행하였다. 결과적으로, 특허 분석 결과를 통해 비행체의 로터드라이브시스템 개발 개념을 제안한다.

  • In order to achieve high precision machine tools, the research for performance enhancement of feed drive systems is required. Development of the high speed feed drive system has been a major issue for the past few decades in machine tool indestries. Because table levitation system decrease the table weight, an effect of reaction by weight is minimized and lost motion can be removed at maximum. In case fled system is designed with drive motor, ball screw and support bearing load capacity selection, an effect of decrease of the table weight exist. So, the table weight through an effect of decrease call it into the realization of cost down. Stick-slip friction has a great influence on the contouring accuracy of CNC machine tools. In this paper table levitation system has been developed for the stick-slip in a fled drive systems.
