A Study on Optimal Design of Perpendicular Guideway Mechanism (수직 이송계의 최적 설계에 관한 연구)

  • Perpendicular guideway mechanism has a different behavior with horizontal guideway mechanism due to the slider weight. So, to decrease its weight effect, counter balances such as weight type and hydraulic cylinder type are used. But it can also make another motion behavior by weight rate of slider and counter balance, its connected position. Therefore, it is necessary to find design parameters and analyze their effect. This paper dealt with the optimal design of perpendicular guideway mechanism. For analysis, the theoretic model as same as real machine tool and sib plate to adjust the clearance was used. Rotational angle and displacement of slider, pressure distribution, friction distribution were calculated. Stick slip, intermittent motion of slider according to friction change was adapted to the perpendicular guideway mechanism.

Polydispersity and Particle Size Distribution of Polystyrene Latex Prepared by Ultrasound Induced Emulsion Polymerization (초음파에너지가 도입된 유화중합공정에서 Polystyrene Latex의 분산도 및 입자분포 특성)

  • A new technology was introduced to the emulsion polymerization. It is the ultrasonic activation method which replaced a chemical initiator and the environmentally benign process. In this study, free radicals were produced by a pulse type ultrasound energy irradiation, then polystyrene latex was polymerized without chemical initiator. With ultrasonic energy density, the degree of polymerization, average molecular weight, and particle size were increased, but the polydispersity index for the molecular weight and the particle size were decreased. The optimum condition of emulsifier concentration and temperature was found to be 1.0 wt.% SDS and $40^{\circ}C$, respectively. As a result, the emulsion polymerization process without chemical initiator was proved to be comparable to common latex properties such as average molecular weight, molecular weight distribution, particle size, etc.

  • Administration route dependency on the distribution of PEGylated recombinant human turor necrosis factor binding protein (rhTNFbp-PEG20K dimer) was observed following a subcutaneous (sc) and an intravenous (iv) administrationin rats. ehTNFbp-PEG20K dimer is composed of two rhTNGbp molecules (molecular weight 18, 278 daltons each) joined by polyethylene glycol 2000(PEG30K). The steady state distribution volume of rhTNFbp-PEG20K was 55 m/kg and 359 ml/kg following the i.v. and s.c. administrations, respectively. These results suggest that the distribution of ehTNFbp-PEG20K is limited within the cpillary space after i.v. administration, while rhTNFbp-PEG20K can distribute into a space (35.9% of body weight) which is between extracellylar space and total body water. A lymphatic absorption may paly a role in the distribution of rhTNFbp-PEF20K dimer following the sc administration. The present study suggests that the administration route of a lartge protein molecule should be determined depedning upon target sites.

A Study on the Anthropometry and Healh-Related Lifestyle Habits of Women College Students in Kunsan (군산시 일부 여대생의 신체적 특성과 식생활 관련습관에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to compare the anthropometry and nutrition knowledge, food behaviour and lifestyle of women college students with different obesity indexes. The subjects were 251 women college students who were randomly selected from Kunsan National University. The height, body weight, soft/lean mass, fat mass, percentage of body fat, and fat distribution were measured, and health-related lifestyle habits were evaluated based on questionnaires. The subjects were assigned to one of the following groups based on their Body Mass Index (BMI) : underweight, normal weight and overweight. The results were as follows. Their body weight, soft/lean mass, fat mass, percentage of body fat, and fat distribution were significantly higher in the overweight subjects when compared to the underweight or normal weight subjects. Standard of living, self-recognition of health status and duration of exercise were significantly correlated with their BMIs. Self-satisfaction with body weight decreased as the BMI increased. Most subjects had poor habits such as skipping meals and lack of exercises. The overweight and the underweight groups skipped meals more frequently than the normal weight group. There were no significant differences in the scores on the nutritional knowledge and the dietary behaviour of the subjects with different BMIs. Therefore, proper nutritional education on regular meals and intervention are required if women college students are to have normal weights and healthy lifestyles. Effect of asymmetric exercise to soccer player's spinal deformity and weight bearing (편측성 운동이 축구선수의 척추 변형과 체중 지지에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose : This study is carried out to investigate the effect of asymmetric exercises on soccer players' vertebral abnormality and weight bearing. Methods : A total of 40 soccer players were divided into either a group of 20 players who use a unilateral foot or a group of 20 players who use both feet. 3-dimensional spine structure analyzer was used to analyze body inclination, pelvic inclination, pelvic torsion, turning of spinal segment, spinal curvature, thoracic kyphosis curvature, lumbar lordosis curvature, left/right weight distribution, and front/back weight distribution. Results : The result of the two groups showed that there were significant differences (p<0.05) for every item except turning of spinal segment and lumbar lordosis curvature. Conclusion : From this result, we can find that spinal and pelvic deformity and body weight are unilaterally supported for soccer players with asymmetric exercises.

  • To test the equality of survival distributions in the presence of arbitrary right censorship, the choice of weights which are functions of the number of individuals at risk at the time of each death is very important in increasing the power of the test. In this paper a weight by probit scale is derived and the efficiencies relative to the other weight's are also investigated.

  • A model for the weight distribution of pellet sizes of carbon black products is proposed so that it may be utilized in establishing the product standard and a quality control scheme. The various grades of carbon black products from the Korea Steel Chemical Co., Ltd. are examined to validate the adequacy of the proposed model.

Buckling Analysis of Corrugated Board using Finite Element Method (유한요소법에 의한 Corrugated Board의 휨 발란스 해석)

  • The top-to-bottom compression strength of corrugated board box is the most important mode of loading during it's no, and it depends largely on the edgewise compression strength of the corrugated board in the cross-machine direction and to a considerable extent on the flexural stiffness in both principal directions (CD; cross-machine direction, MD; machine direction) of the corrugated board. Corrugated board is a sandwich structure with an orthotropic property. The purpose of this study was to elucidate the principal design parameters for board combination of corrugated board from the viewpoint of bending strength through the finite element analysis [FEA] fur the various corrugated board. In general, the flexural stiffness [FS] in the MD was 2-3 times larger than that in the CD, and the effect of liner for the FS of corrugated board was much bigger than that of corrugating medium. The flexural stiffness index [FSI] was high when the stiffness of liner was in the order of inner, outer, and middle liner in double-wall corrugated board [DW], and the effect of the stiffness arrangement or itself reinforcement of corrugating medium on the FSI was not high. In single-wall corrugated board [SW] with DW. the variation of FSI with itself stiffness reinforcement of liner was much bigger than that with stiffness arrangement of liner. The highest FSI was at the ratio of about 2:1:2 for basis weight distribution of outer, middle, and inner liner if the stiffness of liner and total basis weight of corrugated board were equal in DW Secondarily. basis weight was in the order of inner, outer, and middle liner. However, the variation of FSI with basis weight distribution between liner and corrugating medium was much bigger than that with itself basis weight distribution ratio of liner and corrugating medium respectively in both DW and SW. md the FSI was high as more total basis weight was divided into liner. These phenomena fur board combination of corrugated board based on the FEA were well verified by experimental investigation.

The Molecular Weight Distribution Pattern in Oxidized Corn Starch (산화에 따른 옥수수 전분의 분자량 분포 양상)

  • Corn starch was modified by the oxidation with sodium hypochlorite(NaOCl) and the changes in the distribution of molecular weight were examined. Corn starch was oxidized with 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1.0, and 1.5% active Cl/g of starch at pH 7.0 and 25$^{\circ}C$ for 10 min. Oxidation of corn starch caused a change in the molecular weight distribution of amylopectin. The fraction of highest molecular weight in native starch decreased gradually and the fraction of lower molecular weight increased with increasing oxidation. Also, λ$\sub$max/ and iodine binding capacities of oxidized starches decreased and the soluble carbohydrate content increased by oxidation. The differential scanning calorimetric results of oxidized starches showed that the temperature and enthalpies of gelatinization were not changed by oxidation; however, the more the starch was oxidized, the greater the extent of retrogradation.
