  • In this paper, the stress and transient currents associated with the on and off time of applied voltage were used to measure the density and distribution of high voltage stress induced traps in thin silicon oxide films. The transient currents were due to the discharging of traps generated by high stress voltage in the silicon oxides. The trap distributions were relatively uniform new both cathode and anode interface. The trap densities were dependent on the stress polarity. The stress generated trap distributions were relatively uniform the order of 1011~1021[states/eV/cm2] after a stress voltage. It appear that the stress and transient current that flowed when the stress voltage were applied to the oxide was caused by carriers tunneling through the silicon oxide by the high voltage stress generated traps.

  • In this study, after supplying a pulse wave to the 2 V Industrial Lead-Acid Battery electrode plate and repeating the charging and discharging, the discharging time per voltage was analyzed. According to the result of experiment, while the lead-acid Battery that a pulse wave is not supplied decreased about 18 % of discharging capacity than the beginning, the lead-acid Battery that a pulse wave is supplied decreased a little amount much lower than 18 %, of discharging capacity and recorded the 0.56 % decrease, at a minimum, from discharging capacity at the 20 kHz frequency. This means that the sulfate on electrode plate is detached and the positive and negative charge transfer is highly activated at the 20 kHz frequency

  • The key issues in high power, high energy applications such as electromagnetic launchers include safety, reliability, flexibility, efficiency, compactness, and cost. To explore some of the issues, a control scheme for a large current wave-forming was designed, built and experimentally verified using a 2.4MJ pulse power system (PPS). The PPS was made up of eight capacitors bank unit, each containing six capacitors connected in parallel. Therefore there were 48 capacitors in total, with ratings of 22kV and 50kJ each. Each unit is charged through a charging switch that is operated by air pressure. For discharging each unit has a triggered vacuum switch (TVS) with ratings of 200kA and 250kV. Hence, flexibility of a large current wave-forming can be obtained by controlling the charging voltage and the discharging times. The whole control system includes a personal computer(PC), RS232 and RS485 pseudo converter, electric/optical signal converters and eight 80C196KC micro-controller based capacitor-bank module(CBM) controllers. Hence, the PC based controller can set the capacitor charging voltages and the TVS trigger timings of each CBM controller for the current wave-forming. It also monitors and records the system status data. We illustrated that our control scheme was able to generate the large current pulse flexibly and safely by experiments. The our control scheme minimize the use of optical cables without reducing EMI noise immunity and reliability, this is resulting in cost reduction. Also, the reliability was increased by isolating ground doubly, it reduced drastically the interference of the large voltage pulse induced by the large current pulse. This paper contains the complete control scheme and details of each subsystem unit.

  • It is one of the most important to protect the battery over charging for stable use and to extend the life of battery which occurs with repeated charging and discharging. Various research have been studied to know the state of health, and in this paper the terminal voltage of battery is measured to calculate the state of charge simply. The circuit used comparator is designed and built not to fall under the specific voltage of battery. The designed circuit board is attached to the automatic water sanitizer device with a solar power system. The system is located in the water tank where there is not water and electric service, and confirmed that the state of working is good.

  • This paper proposes a new solution by carrier-based SVPWM method to solve the most serious problem of Flying Capacitor Multi-level Inverter that is unbalance of capacitor voltages The voltage unbalance is occurred by the difference of each capacitor's charging and discharging time applied to Flying Capacitor Multi-level Inverter. It controls the variation of capacitor voltages into the mean'0' during some period by means of new carriers using the leg voltage redundancy in the Inverter. The solution can be easily expanded to the multi-level. Also this method can make the switching loss and conduction loss of device equal by the use of leg voltage redundancy. First the unbalance of capacitor voltage is analyzed and the conventional theory of self-balance using phase-shifted carrier is reviewed. And then the new method that is suitable to the Flying Capacitor Inverter is explained. The simulation results would be shown to verify the proposed method

  • In this paper, we studies EMTP analysis and characteristics of critical voltage of pulse corona and load impedance on variable electrode length. To obtain a stable Pulse voltage, we designed a compact pulse generator switched MOSFET and tested their characteristics by adjusting electrode length and pulse repetition. As a result, critical voltage of pulse corona and load impedance on increasing electrode length were decreased. These results indicate we can control critical voltage of pulse corona and suppress arc discharging between two electrodes.

  • This paper presents a bidirectional DC-DC converter suitable for low-voltage super capacitor-based electric energy storage systems. The DC-DC converter presented here consists of a full-bridge circuit and a current-fed push-pull circuit with a high frequency (HF) transformer-link. In order to reduce the device-conduction losses due to the large current of the super capacitor as well as unnecessary ringing, synchronous rectification is employed in the super capacitor-charging mode. A wide range of voltage regulation between the battery and the super capacitor can be realized by employing a Phase-Shifting (PS) Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) scheme in the full-bridge circuit for the super capacitor charging mode as well as the overlapping PWM scheme of the gate signals to the active power devices in the push-pull circuit for the super capacitor discharging mode. Essential performance of the bidirectional DC-DC converter is demonstrated with simulation and experiment results, and the practical effectiveness of the DC-DC converter is discussed.
