We enhanced the sensitivity of surface plasmon resonance biosensor by the conversion of the real-time direct binding immunoassay into the sandwich immunoassay, in which colloidal gold particles coated with anti-mouse IgG was used. By the immobilization of anti-mouse IgG onto the carboxymethyl dextran surface of thin gold film, the direct binding of analyte(mouse IgG) onto the sensor chip, and the injection of colloidal gold particles coated with anti-mouse IgG, about 100 times of sensitivity enhancement was obtained. This result suggests that nanoparticles, which has a high refractive index, homogeneous ultrafine structure and capability of size control, would be applicable for the detection of very small quantity of biomaterial.
In this paper, we describe the development of a Southeast Asia environmental information web portal based on near real time MODIS Level 2 and higher level products generated from the direct broadcast data received at the Centre for Remote Imaging, Sensing and Processing (CRISP). This web portal aims to deliver timely environmental information to interested users in the region. Interpreted data will be provided instead of raw satellite data to reduce operational requirements on our system, and to enable users with limited bandwidths to have access to the system.
A glow discharge mass spectrometric(GDMS) analytical method was developed for direct analysis of impurities in solids. Ions extracted from a glow discharge ion source with a sample as a cathode were analyzed by a quadrupole mass filter. Ion extractions were carried out through differentially-pumped orifices biased to positive and negative potentials. Operating parameters of the glow discharge source such as discharge current, orifice-to-cathode distance, energy analyzer setting and bias voltages have been optimized. The developed GDMS was applied to the analysis of KSS copper-base alloy standards certified by Korea Standards Research Institute(KSRI). In the analysis, the reproducibility and the detection limits were estimated to be about 2.5% RSD, and in the low ppm range, respectively.
In this paper, damage detection method by using the time reversal is developed to detect damage on composit structures. The time reversal was investigated for direct root between PZT and PZT, but in case of a circular PZT, lamb wave moves not only along the direct root but also another roots. The center frequency of lamb wave is kept when the lamb waves are reflected from damage. This paper presents experimental and theoretical results for the new structural health monitoring method by above features of lamb wave, and we can increase accuracy of the new structural health monitoring method by using STFT(Short Time Fourier Transform).

A grid voltage estimation method for modular plug-in active power decoupling (APD) circuits is proposed in this study as direct replacements of electrolytic capacitors. Since modular plug-in APD circuits cannot have additional grid voltage sensors and should be operated independently without information exchange with the front-end converter, it is impossible to obtain the phase information of the grid directly. Therefore, the proposed method uses the second-order harmonic component of the DC-link voltage to estimate the grid voltage necessary to control the APD circuit. By employing the proposed method, the concept of modular plug-in APD circuits can be realized and implemented without direct detection of the grid voltage. The experimental results based on hardware-in-the-loop simulation (HILS) validate the effectiveness of the proposed control method.
The rapid and accurate identification of biological agents is a critical step in the case of bio-terror and biological warfare attacks. Recently, matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry has been widely used for the identification of microorganisms. In this study, we describe a method for the rapid and accurate discrimination of Bacillus anthracis spores using MALDI-TOF MS. Our direct in-situ analysis of MALDI-TOF MS does not involve subsequent high-resolution mass analyses and sample preparation steps. This method allowed the detection of species-specific biomarkers from each Bacillus spores. Especially, B. anthracis spores had specific biomarker peaks at 2503, 3089, 3376, 6684, 6698, 6753, and 6840 m/z. Cluster and PCA analyses of the mass spectra of Bacillus spores revealed distinctively separated clusters and within-groups similarity. Therefore, we believe that this method is effective in the real-time identification of biological warfare agents such as B. anthracis as well as other microorganisms in the field.
Airborne separation assurance is a key requirement for Free Flight Airspace operations, This paper study the feasibility of airborne separation assurance for free flight Airspaces operations by evaluating the efficiency measurement models. Three qualitatively different methods are utilized; one based Ground and Air conflict probability model, other based Dynamic Density model. the other based Direct operating cost model. The evaluation is Direct Operating Cost model and Two metrics are utilized for the efficiency measurements; airborne separation assurance performed quite well in the Free Flight evaluation; (1) 2 scenario of the conflict situations are resolved; (2) The MD-80 flight peformed separation assurance and efficiency, Not only appling for geometric method algorithm is more efficiently than potential method, but also the most efficiently geometric combined method.

The different methods such as HPLC, indirect- and direct-ELISA were employed for the analysis of microtoxins and the results of each method were compared in terms of the detection limit and accurary. Three toxins, microcystin-RR, -LR and -YR were clearly separated by HPLC using 0.05 M methanol and phosphate buffer used as a solvent system. The calibration curves for the toxins were linear in the range of 5 ng to 50 ng. The standard curves for the immunoassay of microcystin obtained by direct and indirect ELISA are compared. The linear responses of inhibitions of binding by microcystin in the direct and indirect competitive ELISA were in the range of 10 ng to 1000 ng and 50 pg to 160 pg, respectively. Distribution of microtoxins at 11 sites in the Nakdong river and several lakes in Korea was also studied. The most dominant microcystin variant in the test sites was found to be microcystin-RR.
Recent advances in room-temperature, visible and near-IR diode laser sources for telecommunication, optical data storage applications are enabling combustion diagnostics system based on diode laser absorption spectroscopy. In contrast to some traditional sampling-based gas-sensing instruments, tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy system is advantageous because of their non-invasive nature, high sensitivity, fast response time and real-time measurement capability. So, combined with fiber-optics and high sensitive detection strategies, compact and portable sensor system arc now appearing for a variety of applications. The objective of this research is to take advantage of distributed feed-back diode laser and measure the $CO_{2}$ concentration (by using direct absorption and wavelength modulation spectroscopy methods). In addition to survey spectra of $CO_{2}$ bands and spectroscopic parameters between 1565 and 1579 run were computed at temperatures between 296 and 1200 K (by using HITRAN 2000 database). It experimentally found out that the features of direct absorption and wavelength modulation spectroscopy methods.

In this paper, knowing a priori probability of phase offset between transmitted codes and reference codes in the receiver, we construct the state diagram of acquisition process of the direct sequence spread-spectrum communication system using the expanding window search. The scannings are performed from the cell with higher probability code epoch synchronization to that with lower one. We expand window size from initial value by r times of its previous size in each search, construct the corresponding the state diagrams, and derive average synchronization time using the Markov process and Mason's gain formula. Average synchronization times versus number of search n and detection probability $P_d$ are calculated.
