Circular Fresnel POF(Plastic Optical Fiber) Daylighting System Performance Evaluation Study (원형 프레넬 집광형 POF 주광 조명시스템 성능 평가 연구)

  • CF(Circular Fresnel) POF(Plastic Optical Fiber) daylighting system is a beam daylighting system utilizing solar direct beam radiation. In this study, a CF POF daylighting system has been introduced, developed and applied to KIER test buildings. The CF POF daylighting system consists of three parts: light collector, light transmitter and light diffuser. The light collector includes a Circular Fresnel lens focusing solar direct illuminance by sun tracking. The light transmitter contains the POF cable which has light transmission loss of 4.5% per meter. The light diffuser has about 80% diffuser efficiency. This study aims to evaluate of POF daylighting system performance. At the results of a CFPOF system performance evaluation, the theoretical CFPOF system efficiency was 41.9% and the actual CFPOF system efficiency at the KIER test building was 37.5%. The difference was due partly to the connecting efficiency.

  • The starting point of successful building production process is the feasibility study of the project. If the feasibility study is poor which is affected in direct production processes such as designing and engineering, it incurs a great unrecoverable loss to the company. The government institutionalized the feasibility study for projects that budgets over 50billion won in an effort to ensure competitiveness of the construction industry after IMF; however, the system and effort to created systematic studies or guidance preparation for private construction development projects are lacking in great deal. Therefore, the objective of this study is to establish the analysis factors of feasibility study and evaluation standard by systematic analysis in consideration of the changes of various variables and mutual relationships using system dynamics technique for office buildings among commercial buildings.

A Study on the User Satisfaction of Records and Information Management System in Construction (건설 기록정보관리시스템 이용만족도에 관한 연구)

  • To be able to present authenticity, or to cope with patent related cases or any possible law suite for intellectual. The purpose of this study was to investigate factors affecting the satisfaction of records and information management system on the construction industry. Data was collected through a survey of 129 employees who work for A engineering company. Independent variables in this study included system quality, information quality, and service quality. Latent variable was selected as easy of use and usefulness. Dependent variable was user's satisfaction for the system. The results of analysis of structural equation modeling showed that system quality was found to have both direct and indirect impacts on user's satisfaction. On the other hand, information quality was significant only in direct impact on ease of use. Service quality was not statistically significant in the effect on user's satisfaction.

  • Facade structure system plays an important role in modern architecture and design. Many contractors start using Building Information Modeling (BIM) to help design and lay-out façade walls in recent years. However, there are still some users refuse to accept BIM on façade construction. Therefore, we employed Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to assess the users acceptable of BIM work flow, with using a practical case of facade construction in Chongqing Wanda City. The factors that will affect the builder's decision of whether using BIM or not when construct façade, and the relationship among them will be found via this model. Through the analysis using TAM, this research found that the direct factors influencing the completely acceptance of BIM in façade construction is the BIM quality and Result Demonstrating, and the parameter impacting the intuition engendering is the Exterior Condition. Therefore, this paper proposes a more systemic model of BIM acceptance in curtain wall to analyze the user's acceptance. The solution can also offer a reference for future research and construct on façade structure. The acceptance model has the significance that it can help to analyze the reason why users refuse to use BIM in façade construction, thus to help users accept BIM.

  • Load calculation is indispensable for the construction of a large wind turbine generator system (WTGS). In procedures of load calculation, all conditions affecting to WTGS such as environment of site, operation, transport and installation have to be considered systematically. So the certification of WTGS is issued by assuring the load calculation. This work shows the generals of load calculation briefly and introduces the characteristics and results of load calculations for the 750 kW direct-drive WTGS (KBP-750D) which is under development by the consortium of POSTECH and UNISON.

  • The positioning technology that measures the position of a person or object is a key technology to deal with the location of the real coordinate system or converge the real and virtual worlds, such as digital twins, augmented reality, virtual reality, and autonomous driving. In estimating the location of a person or object at an indoor construction site, there are restrictions that it is impossible to receive location information from the outside, the communication infrastructure is insufficient, and it is difficult to install additional devices. Therefore, this study tested the direct sparse odometry algorithm, one of the visual Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (vSLAM) that estimate the current location and surrounding map using only image information, at an indoor construction site and analyzed its applicability as an indoor positioning technology. As a result, it was found that it is possible to properly estimate the surrounding map and the current location even in the indoor construction site, which has relatively few feature points. The results of this study can be used as reference data for researchers related to indoor positioning technology for construction sites in the future.

  • The Direct Payment Program for Rural Landscape Conservation (DPPRLC), introduced by the Korean government, currently offers subsidies to rural villages to encourage the growing of flower crops or wild flowers instead of common grain. However, in many of these villages, major landscape elements like walls and roofs of houses are built with cheap, urban materials, and kept in poor condition. This is a poor reflection of the DPPRLC goal to improve the aesthetic of korean rural landscape. This study surveyed and analyzed traditional style walls and roofs in ten selected villages taking part in the DPPRLC program. Villagers were interviewed for a proposed direct payment program for building and maintaining traditional walls and roofs. Major findings are: First, more than 86% of residents are willing to build and maintain traditional walls if subsidies are given. They would like to be reimbursed 75% to 100% of construction and maintenance costs. Second, about 64% of residents would be willing to build and maintain traditional roofs with the subsidies. They also would like to receive 75% to 100% of construction and maintenance costs. The policy implication of this study is that extending the DPPRLC program to include walls and roofs in rural villages will make rural landscape more attractive.

  • It often happen water leakage that roof membrane have a poor condition such as direct exposed to rain, ultraviolet lays, temperature change compare with other part of waterproofing. There are difficult to maintain the quality of waterproofing and durability due to use only few waterproofing materials in practical in spite of development and use the various waterproofing material as solution of these poor condition. Therefore, in this thesis, I would like to know the property to apply field and suggest other method to develop for this waterproofing method to adopt various field condition for roof tops, as searching exposed and complex waterproofing technology for roof tops which is reinforced sheet using rising system have a regular pitch, depth, space.

  • Size of building has a direct relationship with building cost, energy use and space maintenance cost. Therefore, minimizing building size during a project development is of paramount importance against such wastes. However, incautious reduction of building size may result in crowded space, and therefore harms the functionality despite the fact that building is supposed to satisfactorily support users' activity. A well-balanced design solution is, therefore, needed at an optimum level that minimizes building size in tandem with providing sufficient space to maintain functionality. For such design, architects and engineers need to be informed accurate and reliable space-use information. We present in this paper a conceptual framework of an agent-based space-use prediction simulation system that provides individual level space-use information over time in a building in consideration of project specific user information and activity schedules, space preference, ad beavioural rules. The information will accordingly assist architects and engineers to optimize space of the building as appropriate.
