Nowadays, the need of multi-mode/multi-band transceiver is rapidly increasing, so we design a direct conversion RF front-end for multi-mode/multi-band receiver that support WCDMA/CDMA2000/WIBRO standard. It consists of variable gain reconfigurable LNA and single input double balanced Mixer and complementary differential LC Oscillator. The circuit is implemented in 0.18 um RF CMOS technology and is suitable for low-cost mode/multi-band.

The differential equations governing the free vibrations of stepped horizontally circular curved beams with circular cross-section are derived and solved numerically. In numerical method, the Runge-Kutta and Determinant Search methods are used for computing the natural frequencies and mode shapes. Frequencies and mode shapes are reported as the functions of non-dimensional system parameters. The numerical method developed herein for computing frequencies and mode shapes are efficient and reliable.

In this paper, an 8bit CMOS low power, high-speed current-mode folding and interpolation A/D converter is designed with te LG semicon $0.8\mu\textrm{m}$ N-well single-poly/double-metal CMOS process to be integrated into a portable image signal processing system such as a digital camcoder. For good linearity and low power consumption, folding amplifiers and for high speed performance of the A/D converter, analog circuitries including folding block, current-mode interpolation circuit and current comparator are designed as a differential-mode. The fabricated 8 bit A/D converter occupies the active chip area of TEX>$2.2mm \times 1.6mm$ and shows DNL of $\pm0.2LSB$, INL of <$\pm0.5LSB$, conversion rate of 40M samples/s, and the measured maximum power dissipation of 33.6mW at single +5V supply voltage.
A coupled inductor-dual boost-inverter (CIDBI) with a differential structure has been presented for application to a micro-inverter photovoltaic module system due to its turn ratio of a high-voltage level. However, it is difficult to design a CIDBI converter with a conventional PI regulator to be stable and achieve good dynamic performance, given the fact that it is a high order system. In view of this situation, a sliding mode control (SMC) strategy is introduced in this paper, and two different sliding mode controllers (SMCs) are proposed and adopted in the left and right side of two Boost sub-circuits to implement the corresponding regulation of the voltage and current. The schemes of the SMCs have been elaborated in this paper including the establishment of a system variable structure model, selection of the sliding surface, determination of the control law, and presentation of the reaching conditions and sliding domain. Finally, the mathematic analysis and the proposed SMC are verified by experimental results.

Transmission performances of direct detection-based 100-Gb/s modulation formats are investigated and compared for metro area optical networks. The effects of optical signal-to-noise ratio sensitivity, chromatic dispersion, cross-channel nonlinearity, and transmission distance on the performance of differential 8-ary phase-shift keying (D8PSK), differential phase-shift keying plus three-level amplitude-shift keying (DPSK+3ASK), and dual-carrier differential quaternary phase-shift keying (DC-DQPSK) are evaluated. The performance of coherent dual-polarization quadrature phase-shift keying (DP-QPSK) with block phase estimation and coherent DP-QPSK with digital differential detection are also presented for reference. According to our analysis, all three direct detection modulation formats could transmit a 100-Gb/s signal over several hundred kilometers of a single-mode fiber link. The results also show that DC-DQPSK outperforms D8PSK and DPSK+3ASK, and the performance of DC-DQPSK is comparable to that of coherent DP-QPSK with digital differential detection. The maximum transmission distance of DC-DQPSK is over 1,000 km, which is enough distance for metro applications.
In this study, the free vibration analysis of axially moving beams is investigated according to Reddy-Bickford beam theory (RBT) by using dynamic stiffness method (DSM) and differential transform method (DTM). First of all, the governing differential equations of motion in free vibration are derived by using Hamilton's principle. The nondimensionalised multiplication factors for axial speed and axial tensile force are used to investigate their effects on natural frequencies. The natural frequencies are calculated by solving differential equations using analytical method (ANM). After the ANM solution, the governing equations of motion of axially moving Reddy-Bickford beams are solved by using DTM which is based on Finite Taylor Series. Besides DTM, DSM is used to obtain natural frequencies of moving Reddy-Bickford beams. DSM solution is performed via Wittrick-Williams algorithm. For different boundary conditions, the first three natural frequencies that calculated by using DTM and DSM are tabulated in tables and are compared with the results of ANM where a very good proximity is observed. The first three mode shapes and normalised bending moment diagrams are presented in figures.

This paper describes the design of a high-speed comparator for high-speed automatic test equipment (ATE). The normal comparator block, which compares the detected signal from the device under test (DUT) to the reference signal from an internal digital-to-analog converter (DAC), is composed of a rail-to-rail first pre-amplifier, a hysteresis amplifier, and a third pre-amplifier and latch for high-speed operation. The proposed continuous comparator handles high-frequency signals up to 800MHz and a wide range of input signals (0~5V). Also, to compare the differences of both common signals and differential signals between two DUTs, the proposed differential mode comparator exploits one differential difference amplifier (DDA) as a pre-amplifier in the comparator, while a conventional differential comparator uses three op-amps as a pre-amplifier. The chip was implemented with $0.18{\mu}m$ Bipolar CMOS DEMOS (BCDMOS) technology, can compare signal differences of 5mV, and operates in a frequency range up to 800MHz. The chip area is $0.514mm^2$.
A new method of multiple damage detection in beam like structures is introduced. The mode shapes of both healthy and damaged structures are used in damage detection process (DDP). Multiple Damage Localization Index Based on Mode Shapes (MDLIBMS) is presented as a criterion in detecting damaged elements. A finite element modeling of structures is used to calculate the mode shapes parameters. The main advantages of the proposed method are its simplicity, flexibility on the number of elements and so the accuracy of the damage(s) position(s), sensitivity to small damage extend, capability in prediction of required number of mode shapes and low sensitivity to noisy data. In fact, because of differential and comparative form of MDLIBMS, using noise polluted data doesn't have major effect on the results. This makes the proposed method a powerful one in damage detection according to measured mode shape data. Because of its flexibility, damage detection process in multi span bridge girders with non-prismatic sections can be done by this method. Numerical simulations used to demonstrate these advantages.
A semi-analytical method is presented for accurately prediction of the free vibration behavior of generally laminated composite plates with arbitrary boundary conditions. The method employs the technique of separation of spatial variables within Hamilton's principle to obtain the equations of motion, including two systems of coupled ordinary homogeneous differential equations. Subsequently, by applying the laminate constitutive relations into the resulting equations two sets of coupled ordinary differential equations with constant coefficients, in terms of displacements, are achieved. The obtained differential equations are solved for the natural frequencies and corresponding mode shapes, with the use of the exact state-space approach. The formulation is exploited in the framework of the first-order shear deformation theory to incorporate the effects of transverse shear deformation and rotary inertia. The efficiency and accuracy of the present method are demonstrated by obtaining solutions to a wide range of problems and comparing them with finite element analysis and previously published results.

We propose a novel negative differential resistance (NDR) device with ultra-high peak-to-valley current ratio (PVCR) by combining pn junction diode with depletion mode nanowire (NW) transistor, which suppress the valley current with transistor off-leakage level. Band-to-band tunneling (BTBT) Esaki diode with degenerately doped pn junction can provide multiple switching behavior having multi-peak and valley currents. These multiple NDR characteristics can be controlled by doping concentration of tunnel diode and threshold voltage of NW transistor. By designing our NDR device, PVCR can be over $10^4$ at low operation voltage of 0.5 V in a single peak and valley current.
