  • In recent years, the stability, safety and comfort of trains has received increased attention. The mechanical characteristics and differential settlement of the foundation are the main problems studied in high-speed railway research. The mechanical characteristics and differential settlement of the foundation are greatly affected by the ground treatment. Additionally, the effects of train load and earthquakes have a great impact. The dynamic action of the train will increase the vibration acceleration of the foundation and increase the cumulative deformation, and the earthquake action will affect the stability of the substructure. Earthquakes have an important practical significance for the dynamic analysis of the railway operation stage; therefore, considering the impact of earthquakes on the railway substructure stability has engineering significance. In this paper, finite element model of the CFG (Cement Fly-ash Gravel) pile + cement-soil compacted pile about composite foundation is established, and manual numerical incentive method is selected as the simulation principle. The mechanical characteristics and differential settlement of CFG pile + cement-soil compacted pile about composite foundation under train load are studied. The results show: under the train load, the neutral point of the side friction about CFG pile is located at nearly 7/8 of the pile length; the vertical dynamic stress-time history curves of the cement-soil compacted pile, CFG pile and soil between piles are all regular serrated shape, the vertical dynamic stress of CFG pile changes greatly, but the vertical dynamic stress of cement-soil compacted pile and soil between piles does not change much; the vertical displacement of CFG pile, cement-soil compacted pile and soil between piles change very little.

  • Idiopathic hypertrophic spinal pachymeningitis (IHSP) is a chronic, progressive, inflammatory disorder characterized by marked fibrosis of the spinal dura mater with unknown etiology. According to the location of the lesion, it might induce neurologic deficits by compression of spinal cord and nerve root. A 58-year old female with a 3-year history of progressive weakness in both lower extremities was referred to our institute. Spinal computed tomography (CT) scan showed an osteolytic lesion involving base of the C6 spinous process with adjacent epidural mass. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed an epidural mass involving dorsal aspect of cervical spinal canal from C5 to C7 level, with low signal intensity on T1 and T2 weighted images and non-enhancement on T1 weighted-enhanced images. We decided to undertake surgical exploration. At the operation field, there was yellow colored, thickened fibrous tissue over the dura mater. The lesion was removed totally, and decompression of spinal cord was achieved. Symptoms improved partially after the operation. Histopathologically, fibrotic pachymeninges with scanty inflammatory cells was revealed, which was compatible with diagnosis of idiopathic hypertrophic pachymeningitis. Six months after operation, motor power grade of both lower extremities was normal on physical examination. However, the patient still complained of mild weakness in the right lower extremity. Although the nature of IHSP is generally indolent, decompressive surgery should be considered for the patient with definite or progressive neurologic symptoms in order to prevent further deterioration. In addition, IHSP can present as an osteolytic lesion. Differential diagnosis with neoplastic disease, including giant cell tumor, is important.

  • The power transmission to the traction devices may be very important for the tractor performance and therefore this system has been studied very much in the past. On the other hand, the PTO(Power-take-off) has been considered as an accessary on the tractor with a few work for its power transmission. Because of increased use of PTO operation in various kind of farming operations in recent years, the function of PTO may become such important as the traction facilities. In this study, the power transmission characteristics of PTO drive was analyzed theoretically and some experimental work was done to study on it. The results of the study are as follows: 1) The most stable condition of PTO work was obtained when the intersection angle of the two curves for driving and driven torques was about ${\pi}/2$. 2) To obtain the most stable operation it is better to use both the speed control and the full control together. 3) Six steps differential gear may not be enough to use the PTO power smoothly. It is thought that the three steps differential gear on the shaft of PTO may be necessary additionally for a smooth operation. 4) When the traction facilities and the PTO are used at the same time, the torque of crank shaft becomes Tt + Tp, and the high efficiency and good stability of word will be obtained with the small variation of driving speed. 5) When the tractor was operated with 75% of the rated horse power and 70% of maximum speed, the best thermal efficiency could be obtained. 6) The most dangerous sound for human occured at the rated speed of PTO and tus it may be necessary to control the dangerous noise.

  • Present experiments were undertaken in order to clarify the effect of splenectomy on the hematology and marrow megakaryocyte picture and to know the genesis of postsplenectomy thrombocytosis in dogs. Six mongrel dogs weighing 8.5~18㎏ were used, of which three were splenectomized and the other three were laparotomized for comparison. Erythrocyte count, total and differential leukocyte counts, thrombocyte count and packed cell volume measurement were made using the blood samples. In addition, bone marrow samples obtained from the femur at 7th and 23rd day of the operation were examined for the number per low-power field, the diameter, and the distribution frequency of the megakaryocyte. From these experiments, following results were obtained : Erythrocyte count and packed cell volume showed significant decrease beginning on the 15th day of splenectomy. Total and differential leukocyte counts showed marked increase for the first 2 days of postsplenectomy. The thrombocyte count of splenectomized dogs increased from the 2nd day of the operation, reached to the peak count on the 15th day, and returned to the preoperation count by the 28th day. The megakaryocyte count per low-power field of the biopsied preparation increased in according to the increase in thrombocyte count. The megakaryocyte diameter of splenectomized dog showed no increase on the 7th or 23rd day of the operation. However, the distribution frequency of the larger megakaryocyte was higher in the splenectomized dogs than in the laparotomized dogs. The total plasma protein concentration showed no significant change after splenectomy or laparotomy. From these results, it may be concluded that the postsplenectomy thrombocytosis results from the increased megakaryocytopoesis or the activated thrombocytopoesis of the marrow megakaryocytes.

  • This paper presents the design and the implementation of input/output (I/O) interface circuits for 2.5 Gbps operation in a 3.3V 0.35um CMOS technology. Due to the differential transmission technique and low voltage swing, LVDS(low-voltage differential signaling) has been widely used for high speed transmission with low power consumption. This interface circuit is fully compatible with the LVDS standard. The LVDS proposed in this paper utilizes a telescopic amplifier. This circuit is operated up to 2.3 Gbps. The circuit has a power consumption of 25. 5mW. This circuit is designed with Samsung $0.35{\mu}m$ CMOS process. The validity and effectiveness are verified through the HSPICE simulation.

  • In this study, we have proposed the method of moving area detection as the preprocessing step of moving object tracking system. First, we catch the two frames which are different at time in image sequence. We obtain the moving area by using their binary differential image. In differential image, the object area of previous and current frame is present. In the tracking system, the background is changed by camera motion. So, in this case we have to decide which moving area of object is current at time. We obtain the binary edge image of current frame by applying a threshold to the output of an edge detector. Then we performed logical AND operation between the edge image and differential image. As a result of this work moving area of object can be detected.

  • Differential power processing (DPP) systems are among the most effective architectures for photovoltaic (PV) power systems because they are highly efficient as a result of their distributed local maximum power point tracking ability, which allows the fractional processing of the total generated power. However, DPP systems require a high-efficiency, high step-up/down bidirectional converter with broad operating ranges and galvanic isolation. This study proposes a single, magnetic, high-efficiency, high step-up/down bidirectional DC-DC converter. The proposed converter is composed of a bidirectional flyback and a bidirectional isolated switched-capacitor cell, which are competitively cheap. The output terminals of the flyback converter and switched-capacitor cell are connected in series to obtain the voltage step-up. In the reverse power flow, the converter reciprocally operates with high efficiency across a broad operating range because it uses hard switching instead of soft switching. The proposed topology achieves a genuine on-off interleaved energy transfer at the transformer core and windings, thus providing an excellent utilization ratio. The dynamic characteristics of the converter are analyzed for the controller design. Finally, a 240 W hardware prototype is constructed to demonstrate the operation of the bidirectional converter under a current feedback control loop. To improve the efficiency of a PV system, the maximum power point tracking method is applied to the proposed converter.

  • In this paper, a hardware implementation of phase calculator for extracting 3D depth image from TOF(Time-Of-Flight) sensor is proposed. The designed phase calculator, which adopts redundant binary number systems and a pipelined architecture to improve throughput and speed, performs arctangent operation using vectoring mode of DCORDIC algorithm. Fixed-point MATLAB simulations are carried out to determine the optimized bit-widths and number of iteration. The designed phase calculator is verified by emulating the restoration of virtual 3D data using MATLAB/Simulink and FPGA-in-the-loop verification, and the estimated performance is about 7.5 Gbps at 469 MHz clock frequency.

  • In this study, we investigated the dominant processing variables that would influence the microstructural development of AA6061 deformed by differential speed rolling (DSR) at ambient temperature. For this purpose, we carried out a series of DSR on the samples to investigate the effects of roll speed ratio, sample rotation, and number of operation under specific rotation. Among these, the condition with a height reduction of 75% at a speed ratio of 1:4 through rotation along rolling direction (RR) displayed the pronounced results of more homogenous matrix-structure and superior mechanical properties than the others tested in this study. This was mainly due to the cross shearing of macro-shear pattern in segment where dynamic recrystallization took place with ease throughout the sample. Thus, an average microhardness value of 101 Hv was obtained in the present sample deformed by 4-pass DSR with RR where macro cross-shearing was effectively applied.

  • High-speed IC for time-division multiplexing (TDM) optical transmission systems have been designed and fabricated by using InP heterojunction-bipolar-transistor (HBT) technology. The driver IC was developed for driving external modulators, featuring differential outputs and the operation speed up to 10 Gbps with an output voltage swing of 1.3 Vpp at each output which was the limit of the measurement. Because -3 dB frequency was 20GHz, this circuit will be operated up to 20Gbps. 1.3Vpp differential output was achieved by switching 50 mA into a 50 $\Omega$ load. The power dissipation of the driver IC was 1W using a single supply voltage of -3.5Y. Input md output return loss of the IC were better than 10 dB and 15 dB, respectively, from DC to 20GHz. The chip size of fabricated IC was $1.7{\Box}1.2 mm^{2}$.
