  • The purpose of the present study was to examine the desire of married women to be re-employed and the factors related to this desire. The study gathered information from 240 women who gave up their jobs and careers after marriage. Information included their career history, current psycho-social condition, and family situation. Multiple regression and covariation structure analyses indicated that the desire of married women to go back to paid work was influenced by family economic condition, psycho-social condition, and child care situation. Specifically, the study found that family's monthly income and the age of the last child were negatively related to the women's desire for re-employment. On the other hand, economic pressure and achievement motivation were positively related to the women's desire. Finally, the study found that socio-economic background and external social support were not significantly related to the women’s wish to go back to the workforce.

  • Nationalism endorses a collective movement to establish an authentic position in the international cultural and political arena. Arguably the dialectic of nationalism and geopolitics bears a reassuring similarity to the philosophical lineage going back, at least, to Hegelian dialectic of universality and particularity. This dialectic platform has been concerned with sustaining, among other things, the dynamics between the universal and the particular. In practical terms, nationalism prompts increased sensitivity to socio-political pressures coming from abroad to cancel the national particularity into geopolitical, so-called universal, anonymity. Drawing suggestively from psychoanalysis, Lacanian ethics in particular, this discussion articulates the ethics of nationalism. Recounting Kantian self-determination as a reference point for responsible morality, Lacan suggests the problematics of desire as an alternative index for ethics. As individual desire flows from the unfathomable abyss of misrecognition, Lacanian ethics dissuade individuals to unlearn the fantasy that their own real desire, a residue produced by the Symbolic process, can be satisfied with that very socio-cultural Symbolic. Subjecting nationalism to Lacanian implications, Zizek illuminates nationalism as a small screening object which obscures as much as displays the circuits to the individual desire. Psychoanalytic ethics addresses that the ethical base should be found upon the particular, individual, real desire. As far as the nationalist cause also puts emphasis upon particularity rather than universality, nationalism is logically positioned to exert reflective efforts on empowering its constitutive individuals. Lacanian ethics persuades us to challenge the universal claim and to work through to regenerate nationalism in presenting its final contribution towards individual particularities.

This thesis is a study of these factors that affect the Professional Librarans' job desire of the university libraries in Korea. The purpose of the study is to analyze the perceived degree of Professional Librarians' job desire. To meet this purpose, this study is based upon A.H. Maslow's motivation theory "Hierarchy of Needs" and analyzed by the method of "Cafeteria Question" the answers gathered from 226 Professional Librarians who are work ing in University Libraries. The analyzed results show that generally the job desires of Professional Librarians in university libraries are low and stands in a situation that doesn't meet even the low dimensional needs of Maslow's theory. So the top library managers should establish the long-term plan to promote the job desire and the factors which cause the frustration of the Professional Librarians should be removed as soon as possible.

  • Duchamp chose readymades mainly for his denial of retinal painting and his desire and fluid thinking for changes inside him. His thinking is well presented in his readymade works. One of his early readymades, Bicycle Wheel, expresses correlations between beings and capital. Its essence is capital and the desire of beings. It is connected to Desire or Desire-Machine proposed as a social reform and creation model by Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari. Bicycle Wheel does not simply end in desire relations between capital and beings, though. When the desire of beings is converted into positive desire, it can keep inventing and creating something that is repetitive, fluid, and new. Duchamp tried to convey this positive desire through his readymade Fountain. Duchamp created a ready-made article toilet into a work of art in Fountain, being driven by desire flowing inside him. This is connected to the attributes of nomads that refused to settle down and continue to flow in search of new landscapes. This way of his thinking is clearly reflected in his Box in a Valise. He was motivated to create this work by his fluid thinking. In this work, various situations can unfold often according to the directions of two elements, place and arrangement. Here, place guarantees fluidity, and arrangement variability or desire. According to Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari, fluidity represents nomads with the characteristics of flow and variation, and desire represents productivity or production or creation. Box in a Valise represents nomads themselves. The nomads defined by Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari keep flowing and create a new world. They are in line with the thinking of Duchamp that refused to settle down at one place and escape from the old order to create a new artistic world. This type of nomads can be called revolutionists or creators that acknowledge differences and create. Nomads also contain the concept of resistance to the old order. Deleuze and Guattari proposed a war machine as a model of this resistance. Duchamp and his readymades can thus be called war machines.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the factors influencing vocational training participation among individuals aged 65 and older in order to enhance their employability. According to the research findings, the educational background and economic activity status of the elderly significantly impact their participation in vocational training. It was confirmed that economic activity and vocational training are closely related to the capacity development and increased employability of the elderly. Moreover, a considerable number of elderly individuals express a continued desire to work, and this group tends to participate more in vocational training. This underscores the importance of promoting vocational training among the elderly and developing suitable models, which holds significant policy implications. Logistic regression analysis revealed that gender, education, economic activity, desire to work, and pension income affect participation in vocational training. This highlights the necessity of formulating specific strategies in government support policies, particularly for those with lower educational backgrounds. Additionally, the study emphasizes the importance of approaches that encourage vocational training participation, especially among those with lower pension income.

  • This study aims to focus on the text analysis, production methods of text, and reproduction of production methods, based on a film (2010) taken by mobile devices. As a digital film in which the objects and images have no characteristics of index, this work has the post-cinematic attributes in the aspect of consumers' recipience. This thesis paid attention to the interactions between essential change and production/consumption throughout the whole film culture in the receptive aspect. Just as the main character is a mediator-shaman in the film, this film works as a mediating position of cinematic possibility. In this film, there are different kinds of mediation such as mediation of shaman inside the text, mediation of film in the relationship between text and consumers, and consumers' instrumental desire for others'tool outside the text. Outside the text, this relevant film stimulates the imitation desire of consumer subjects as others. In other words, this is connected to the desire of consumers who aim to create a digital film through mobile devices as an author. This is connected to Simondon's thinking in which such technical objects not only generate new relationships, but also become a revolutionary seed that newly collectivizes human society.

  • This study takes its point of departure from Lacanian psychoanalysis and explores the point that an irremediable gap in the human subject can be illuminated in terms of the Lacanian categories, fantasy, symptom, gaze or voice as cause of desire of the Other. With respect to the category of the symptom, Lacan claims that the Other is always already there in the constitution of the subject, that is, the relation of the subject to the Other that is overwhelming as well as attracting the subject. Chapter II deals with the unthought, excessive ground of the conscious that borders on the subject, as is the case of self-excentric aspect of the man. Indeed, in Lacan's early work, the subject is essentially a relationship to the Other as desire(objet petit a), and there is no such thing as a symptom or fantasy without some subjective involvement. Lacanian unknown real, perpetual excess as the cause of desire animates the subject even as it threatens to blast it apart. The structures that establish the lines of desire in every individual are derived from an ineluctably intersubjective field. The Other is always already there in the constitution of the subject. In the final years of Lacan's teaching we find a kind of universalization of the symptom and almost everything that is becomes in a way symptom. Symptom, embodied in Laura in "Goblin Market," is her only substance, the only positive support of her being. By looking at the Laura's symptom in chapter III we gain an insight into the forbidden domain, into a real space that should be left unseen and unthought. The voice of goblin men therefore functions as a sublime object that is animating as well as dominating element even as it threatens to disintegrate the subject. Objet petit a as a sublime object that must be excluded in reality returns in the real, taking on a certain materiality which has an effect on Laura, that is, animates Laura's desire. Objet petit a is a real object, signifying nothing. In conclusion, the theoretical importance of Lacanian psychoanalysis is the relation between a subject and an Other as Objet petit a.
