Purpose: Of late, the focus of service design is moving toward emphasizing customer satisfaction and taking users' experience more seriously. In addition to the change in perspective in service design, scholars in this area are paying more attention to service design methodology and process, as well as its theory and real-world case studies. In the case of medical space, there have been few studies in attempting to apply service design methods useful for deriving user-focused results. The author of this paper believes, however, case study-oriented approaches are more needed in this area rather than ones focusing on theoretical aspects. The author hopes thereby to expand the horizon to practical application of spatial design beyond service design methodology. Methods: In order to incorporate the strengths of service design methodology that can reflect a variety of user opinions, this study will introduce diverse tools in the framework of double diamond process. In addition, it will present field cases that successfully brought about best results in medical space design. It will end with summarizing the ideal process of medical space design which is reasonable and comprehensive. Results: Medical service encompasses preventive medicine as well as treatment of existing medical conditions. A study in establishing the platform of medical service design consists of a wide range of trend research, followed by the summary of two-matrix design classification based on results of the trend research. The draft of design process is divided into five stages composed of basic tools for establishing spatial flow lines created by matching service design tools with each stage of space design processes. In all this, most important elements to consider are communication and empathy. When service design is actually applied to space design, one can see that output has reflected the users' needs very well. The service design process for user-oriented medical space can thus be established by interactions on the final outcome and feedback on the results. Implications: One can see that the service design with the hospital at its center produces the result that encompasses the user's needs best. If the user-focused service design process for medical space can be extended to other space designs, the author believes that it would enhance the level of satisfaction for users and minimize trials and errors.
Rapid advancement information and communication technologies has introduced various dimension of e-Learning environment such as u-learning(ubiquitous learning), m-learning(mobile learning) and t-learning(television learning). These technologies enabled learners to access learning contents through variety of devices with more flexibility and consistency. In order to implement learning through these multiple environments, basically it is necessary to acquire and process the platform information that contains properties and status of the web-accessing devices. In this study, we introduce the design and implementation of a Platform Analyzer Model which is essential for learning systems that support multi-platform environment. We also present a Interactive DTV-Centered multi-platform learning environment framework using PC, PDA or Mobile phone. Finally, we will discuss the possibility of the multi-platform learning environment with sample scenario and contents.

The alignment of facial images is crucial for 2D face recognition. This is the same to facial meshes for 3D face recognition. Most of the 3D face recognition methods refer to 3D alignment but do not describe their approaches in details. In this paper, we focus on describing an automatic 3D alignment in viewpoint of quantitative analysis. This paper presents a framework of 3D face alignment and normalization based on feature points obtained by Active Shape Models (ASMs). The positions of eyes and mouth can give possibility of aligning the 3D face exactly in three-dimension space. The rotational transform on each axis is defined with respect to the reference position. In aligning process, the rotational transform converts an input 3D faces with large pose variations to the reference frontal view. The part of face is flopped from the aligned face using the sphere region centered at the nose tip of 3D face. The cropped face is shifted and brought into the frame with specified size for normalizing. Subsequently, the interpolation is carried to the face for sampling at equal interval and filling holes. The color interpolation is also carried at the same interval. The outputs are normalized 2D and 3D face which can be used for face recognition. Finally, we carry two sets of experiments to measure aligning errors and evaluate the performance of suggested process.

As the knowledge and information society has emerged, paradigm of school education has moved to improvement of creativity and problem-solving skills of a learner. However, up to the present, ICT education in schools has shown distorted features, which are focusing on the use of application programs, out of its original purpose. This study also allows digital technology to be displayed in analog ways by applying the paper prototyping technique, which can be substituted for the programming phase that elementary school students feel difficulty to handle with. In addition, It enables practical and useful ideas to be designed, constructed and evaluated as a system, based on User Centered Design (UCD), which encourages users actively to participate in the development, rather than focus on developer. To verify the effects of education, we evaluated and analyzed concept models of a learner before and after the application development activity by applying the mental model theory. The framework suggested in this study can be applied to courseware of programming in elementary schools.
In the context of a globalized society where diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) have emerged as pivotal values, the fashion industry is undergoing scrutiny for its practices related to body DE&I. This study examines the nature of the discourse surrounding body DE&I within the fashion industry, focusing on how such discussions are shaped, disseminated, and manifested in both the industry and broader society. Critical discourse analysis is applied by utilizing, content from the New York Times and leveraging Fairclough's analytical framework encompassing textual, discursive, and social practices. The findings indicate that the New York Times emphasizes diversity, with a significant focus on the shapes and sizes of women's bodies, developing a narrative centered around women's bodies through visible and representative domains. The analysis suggests conflicted discourse, with prevailing critiques against the fashion industry's standardization of beauty and superficial inclusivity efforts. Moreover, the industry's adaptation to social demands for body DE&I is observed as sporadic, often leveraging non-normative bodies as a marketing strategy rather than genuinely embracing diversity. This study highlights the importance of continuous, in-depth discourse and social practices regarding DE&I within the fashion industry, as well as the need for systemic changes and policies that genuinely reflect societal demands for inclusivity. The findings provide a foundation for future investigations into the multifaceted relationship between fashion discourse, DE&I, and social practices, advocating for a more inclusive and critically aware fashion industry.
In this study, a student participation-centered class based on student mathematical thinking as a the meaningful subject was called a student thinking-based math class. And as a way to support these classes, I paid attention to lesson design. For student thinking-based mathematics classes, it is necessary not only to anticipate student thinking and teacher feedback, but also to plan in advance how to properly arrange and connect expected student responses. The student thinking-based lesson design template proposed in this study is a modified three-step(introduction, main topic, summary) lesson design template. The reason for revising the existing design template is that it has limitation that it cannot focus on mathematical thinking. Using the conceptual framework of student thinking-based mathematics lesson as a lens, the difference between the three-step lesson design prepared by pre-service teachers and the students' thinking-based lesson design prepared by the same pre-service teachers was analyzed. As a result of planning lessons using the student thinking-based lesson design, more attention was paid to the cognitive and social engagement of students. In addition, emphasis was placed in the role of teachers as formative facilitator. This study is of significant in that it recognizes the importance of classes focusing on students' mathematical thinking and provides tools to plan math classes based on students' thinking.
In order for social robots to take root in human life, it is important to consider the technical implementation of social robots and human psychology toward social robots. This study aimed to derive potential social robot clusters based on the emotions consumers feel about social robot appearance design, and to identify and compare important design characteristics and emotional differences of each cluster. In our study, we established a social robot emotion framework to measure and evaluate the emotions consumers feel about social robots, and evaluated the emotions of social robot designs based on the semantic differential method, an kansei engineering approach. We classified 30 social robots into 4 clusters by conducting a multidimensional scaling method and K-means cluster analysis based on the emotion evaluation results, confirmed the characteristics of design elements for each cluster, and conducted a comparative analysis on consumer emotions. We proposed a strategic direction for successful social robot design and development from a human-centered perspective based on the design characteristics and emotional differences derived for each cluster.
The recent rapid increase in genomic data related to many microorganisms and the development of computational tools to accurately analyze large amounts of data have enabled us to design several kinds of simulation approaches for the complex behaviors of cells. Among these approaches, dFBA (dynamic flux balance analysis), which utilizes FBA, differential equations, and regulatory events, has correctly predicted cellular behaviors under given environmental conditions. However, until now, dFBA has centered on substrate concentration, cell growth, and gene on/off, but a detailed hierarchical structure of a regulatory network has not been taken into account. The use of Boolean rules for regulatory events in dFBA has limited the representation of interactions between specific regulatory proteins and genes and the whole transcriptional regulation mechanism with environmental change. In this paper, we adopted the operon as the basic structure, constructed a hierarchical structure for a regulatory network with defined fundamental symbols, and introduced a weight between symbols in order to solve the above problems. Finally, the total control mechanism of regulatory elements (operons, genes, effectors, etc.) with time was simulated through the linkage of dFBA with regulatory network modeling. The lac operon, trp operon, and tna operon in the central metabolic network of E. coli were chosen as the basic models for control patterns. The suggested modeling method in this study can be adopted as a basic framework to describe other transcriptional regulations, and provide biologists and engineers with useful information on transcriptional regulation mechanisms under extracellular environmental change.

The hybrid fashion design trend of regional elements formed by stimuli and contacts of diverse local culture by globalization of network that was achieved by scientific technologies of the contemporary information society has disintegrated varied boundaries in the conventional culture by the latest communication technology-new media on the basis of newly created culture. The fact that regional elements could be expressed as if they were interrelated without each being deprived of originality may be explained with an interpretation on pluralism. The hybrid fashion design trend of cultural aspect, which manifests in the background of scientific technological culture as it transcends the societal-cultural boundaries based on the de-centralization theory of Frederic Jameson, has supplemented the imperfect meanings through conversional correlation with other forms and internal program changes. The middle stratal and polyhedral characteristics are seen as each cultural element is dismantled and reassembled by application of 'multiple-time point expression'. Design forming method is not to bring destruction from outside, but to embrace instability and chaos through radical dismantling of the inside. and to pursue diversity and openness. Thus. it is implemented by an approach that takes the role of design process. In communication of discontinuity, continuity was dismantled through forms of mixing, overlap, perversion, insertion and coincidence.
This research is based on the design of pictures in picture books, and the spatial representation of illustrations in the picture books contains the significantly important objective. Various texts, pictures, spaces, etc. in a picture must have the operator's various editing skills so that spatial arrangement is made smoothly.In this paper, the characteristics of spatial expression of design in picture books are derived by analyzing several examples of paintings and studies on classic picture books. First, the fusion of picture and text, that is, that both picture and text convey spatial information together as elements of the screen. Second, as a characteristic of the coherence of the space design in picture books, the story and content must be smoothly connected when reading the book. Third, when expressing a space, the creator should utilize the strengths and weaknesses of each other between abstract and conceived spatial expressions as needed. Fourth, as a symbolic feature of picture book spatial expression, it can be seen that many symbolic expression techniques are applied to the spatial expression of picture books according to the semiotic principle, which greatly improves the cognitive efficiency of reading picture books. The fifth characteristic is that the spatial expression of an excellent picture book has excellent interesting element, rich design means, and interestingly conveys screen contents and screen format to readers. In this research, it is thought that designers and artists should guide the creation within a spatial framework as designing picture books, thus greatly improving the efficiency of the creation process, while also provide a reader-centered visual Interesting experience.
