The purpose of this study is to establish future directions of environmentally-friendly restoration of Yangjae underground stream and reflect various opinions of inhabitant in the plan and design process. The opinions from the citizens include the economic and environmental suitability of the restoration projects and preference for the future directions of restoration. The citizens are favorable to removing the existing parking lot and want to have jogging course, walking path and bike road in the stream. Different opinions and resulted in preferred facilities and diminishing existing park along the stream depending on the restoration influencing zone. As a result, citizens agree in restoration but they have different opinions about the feasibility of new facilities, streams restoration and central park reduction locally. It is desirable to reflect the opinions of citizens in the process of plan and design of restoration project.
The funeral and grave system in Korea has issued that our country will become a grave. This is a result of being in favor of the funeral and grave process of burial based on long time traditions and customs. The government is allowing construction and use of charnels on a large scale in order to improve this system after analyzing the problems of the current grave system; However, those results are very few and slight because the image of existing charnels have been regarded as abomination utilities and it has been projected not to be closed to the public easily. In this stduy, we first looked at these problems using sample research and analysis. Second, we made comparisons and analysis to suggest solutions in the projecting method and feature of those spaces by carrying out a sample research project. This project was based on 3 of the biggest charnels built recently, which are out of the 54 charnels in Korea. After assaying the image according to the interior designing elements, and then proposing various several alternatives, we would like to tell how to build the future-oriented and opened charnels as the purpose of this study. Therefore, when projecting charnels, we would like to suggest the alternative solution that diminishes abomonation and closeness in the interior of the charnel through the designing consideration and increases the usage of this building by inducing traditional limitations and maintaining vertical dignity and piety by making the central axis adapting to the nature.

In planning public service systems such as waterworks, the design population is very important factor. Owing to the limitations of the indirect method, two new models, which take into consideration urban characteristics, were developed to accurately predict external migration rate (EMR), which is an essential component in estimating reliably the design population. The root mean square error (RMSE) between the model values and observed values were 10.12 and 15.58 for the metropolitan cities and counties respectively and were lower compared to RMSE values of 27.31 and 28.79 obtained by the indirect method. Thus, the developed models provide a more accurate estimate of EMR than the indirect method. In addition, the major influencing factors for external migration in counties were development type, ageing index, number of businesses. On the other hand, the major influencing migration factors for cities were project scale, distance to city center, manufacturing size, population growth rate and residential environment. Future medium and long-term studies would be done to identify emerging trends to appropriately inform policy making.

Raymond, who adopted Le Corbusier's Errazuris House Project, built Karuizawa Villa by incorporating Japan's aspiration for Western modern architecture and strong convictions regarding the preservation of traditional culture heritage, which were prevalent in Japan at the time. Despite the controversy over his plagiarism, Karuizawa Villa shows several unique architectural characteristics. First, in terms of the arrangement and access system, the villa has a common space that affords a view of the lake by accessing from the mountain side. Second, in terms of spatial composition, the common space is connected to the mesonnette by placing a trail to enable enjoyment of natural scenery. In particular, personal space is planned in the shape of a cross by connecting several surfaces to the outside in order to secure enjoyment of the natural environment. Lastly, in the aspect of structure and materials, both architectural buildings adopted masonry by using natural stone as well as building materials suitable for each region and climate by using logs in constructing the main columns and beams. Through Karuizawa Villa, Raymond is considered to have established his own style by combining the standard of Western modern architecture and the elements of Japanese traditional architecture while valuing local architectural technology.

Cloud BIM, which incorporates cloud computing technology and BIM technology, is increasingly used in construction. In particular, the recent trend of cloud services in IT field is to provide customized cloud services according to the characteristics of users. These changes are also linked to the cloud BIM, which is emerging in the construction industry. However, cloud BIM researches and commercial technologies that are currently underway do not reflect these trends, and they provide services through generalized management functions in construction projects. In order to solve these problems, a new type of customized cloud BIM service is needed that can provide cloud services by reflecting the characteristics of the project, customization based on the user's work, and providing the knowledge service. Therefore, this study aims to derive the system requirement function that should be preceded for implementing the customized cloud BIM service, and the target project is selected as the medical facility.
An attractive user interface (UI) design with a clear user experience (UX) is the key for the success of applications. Therefore software development projects require very close collaboration between SI developers and front-end service developers. However, methodologies for software development only exist with inadequate development processes or work standards for collaboration. This survey derived 13 risk factors in developing UI/UX from 113 risk factors of IT projects through a questionnaire and factor analysis and proposed a collaboration-based UI/UX development model that can eliminate or mitigate six risks with high weights and reliability. To extract risk factors with high reliability, factor and reliability were analyzed to extract 13 major risks, and based on the expert opinions and the results of correlation analysis, UI/UX development stages were classified into planning, design, and implementation. The causal relationships between risks were verified through regression analysis. This study is the first to expertly analyze major risks based on collaboration in UI/UX development and derive a theoretical basis that can be used in project risk management. These findings are expected to provide a basis for research on development methodologies for higher levels of front-end services and to construct rational collaboration systems between SI practitioners and front-end service providers.

This study was conducted to develop a tool to investigate and analyze the educational effect of the school space innovation project, which is being promoted on a large scale at the national level. In order to analyze the educational effect of school space innovation, it is first necessary to analyze the structure of the space altered by the school space innovation. Research and analysis should be possible, so a user survey tool was developed for this purpose. It is expected that the survey tool in this study can be used for pre-investigation in the pre-planning stage of the school space innovation project and as a post-evaluation tool for investigating and analyzing the educational effects of space innovation.
New generation of tall and complex buildings systems are now introduced that are reflective of the latest development in materials, design, sustainability, construction, and IT technologies. While the complexity in design is being overcome by the availability and advances in structural analysis tools and readily advanced software, the design of these buildings are still reliant on minimum code requirements that yet to be validated in full scale. The involvement of the author in the design and construction planning of Burj Khalifa since its inception until its completion prompted the author to conceptually develop an extensive survey and real-time structural health monitoring program to validate all the fundamental assumptions mad for the design and construction planning of the tower. The Burj Khalifa Project is the tallest structure ever built by man; the tower is 828 meters tall and comprises of 162 floors above grade and 3 basement levels. Early integration of aerodynamic shaping and wind engineering played a major role in the architectural massing and design of this multi-use tower, where mitigating and taming the dynamic wind effects was one of the most important design criteria established at the onset of the project design. Understanding the structural and foundation system behaviors of the tower are the key fundamental drivers for the development and execution of a state-of-the-art survey and structural health monitoring (SHM) programs. Therefore, the focus of this paper is to discuss the execution of the survey and real-time structural health monitoring programs to confirm the structural behavioral response of the tower during construction stage and during its service life; the monitoring programs included 1) monitoring the tower's foundation system, 2) monitoring the foundation settlement, 3) measuring the strains of the tower vertical elements, 4) measuring the wall and column vertical shortening due to elastic, shrinkage and creep effects, 5) measuring the lateral displacement of the tower under its own gravity loads (including asymmetrical effects) resulting from immediate elastic and long term creep effects, 6) measuring the building lateral movements and dynamic characteristic in real time during construction, 7) measuring the building displacements, accelerations, dynamic characteristics, and structural behavior in real time under building permanent conditions, 8) and monitoring the Pinnacle dynamic behavior and fatigue characteristics. This extensive SHM program has resulted in extensive insight into the structural response of the tower, allowed control the construction process, allowed for the evaluation of the structural response in effective and immediate manner and it allowed for immediate correlation between the measured and the predicted behavior. The survey and SHM programs developed for Burj Khalifa will with no doubt pioneer the use of new survey techniques and the execution of new SHM program concepts as part of the fundamental design of building structures. Moreover, this survey and SHM programs will be benchmarked as a model for the development of future generation of SHM programs for all critical and essential facilities, however, but with much improved devices and technologies, which are now being considered by the author for another tall and complex building development, that is presently under construction.

The United States understood the fostering of pro-U.S. elites in "free world" countries as an important Cold War weapon. From 1954 to 1962, the U.S provided considerable assistance to Seoul National University (SNU) for its postwar rehabilitation and future development in terms of repair and construction of campus buildings, equipment and book purchases, and faculty exchanges. With the aid of this educational assistance project widely known as the Minnesota Project, SNU was reborn with an academic orientation to the U.S., separating itself from the Japanese education that was its origin. This study argues that the Minnesota Project played an important role in crafting SNU's architecture program and the exchange program's recipients as key "knowledge brokers." For individual trainees, experience in the U.S., as opposed to a backwards situation in their homeland, had allowed them to recognize the U.S. as an ideal source of knowledge. Since the Minnesota Project, SNU's Architectural Engineering Department was filled with faculty members who had trained or studied in the U.S., which became a significant distinction of SNU's architecture program in sharp contrast to its counterparts at Hanyang University and Hongik University where most of the faculty members studied in Japan during the Japanese colonial period. As many graduates of SNU had been appointed as faculty members in newly-founded architecture programs in South Korea, a hierarchical diffusion path had emerged in architectural education that led from SNU to other school's architecture programs, with the U.S. at the apex. The legacy of the Minnesota Project extended over the next few decades, in which studying architecture in the U.S. was recognized as a shortcut to success in the field.

The purpose of the present study is to confirm, through quantitative indices, changes arising with the implementation of urban regeneration projects, with a specific focus on the case of Dongnam-gu, Cheonan, one of the 13 priority rgions in urban regeneration. By utilizing quantitative data including resident population, floating population, revenue, number of small business persons, number of startup companies, and number of licensed buildings, the study confirmed changes in Dongnam-gu and other urban regeneration areas. The study compared monitoring results and implemented project policies to confirm changes within the area as a result of project implementation. Additionally, resident perception toward business districts was surveyed to confirm changes in perception and opinion, and monitoring indices were used to confirm changes as a result of project implementation. Accordingly, the study presented a plan to carry out the assessment of urban regeneration projects, which can be employed as data for conducting future urban regeneration projects. Urban regeneration projects are carried out for the long-term. Therefore, based on monitoring and investigative data, they require constant policy suggestions and periodic monitoring in accordance with changes resulting from project implementation. With regards to the effective range of urban regeneration projects, the study confirmed the possibility of an effect not only in the area of project implementation but also in surrounding areas. However, because the study merely confirms changes in Dongnam-gu, Cheonan, additional research is necessary to ascertain assessment plans suitable to the different types and regional characteristics of urban regeneration projects.
