  • This paper presents an advanced load control method in Direct Load Control(DLC) system. It is important to aggregate a various demand side resource which is surely controllable at the peak power time for a successful DLC system. Because the DLC system use simple On/Off control that may cause a harmful effect on a plant to reduce a peak power load, there are some restriction on deriving a voluntary participation of demand side resource. So it needs a new approach to direct load control method, and this paper describes an advanced load control method using control logic which is based on load properties. This method is easy to take account of a various characteristic of load, it can be use as a dynamic control logic which is good for adaptive control. The suggested control logic method is verified by modeling a control logic for a turbo refrigerator which affects on peak power in summer season.

  • 실시간 수요대응형 자율주행 버스는 자율주행 버스와 실시간 수요대응형 버스의 단점을 상쇄시킨 미래교통수단이다. 하지만 버스 기능의 고도화로 실시간 수요대응형 자율주행 버스 도입 시 영향에 관한 정량화된 연구는 활발하지 않은 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 강화학습 기반 실시간 수요대응형 자율주행 버스를 미시적 교통 시뮬레이션에 적용하여 실시간 수요대응형 자율주행 버스의 정량화된 효과평가를 실시하였다. 구체적으로 수요 변화에 따라 실시간 수요대응형 자율주행 버스가 도로 네트워크에 끼치는 영향과 이용자 대기시간을 미시적 시뮬레이션 안에서 구현하였다. 시뮬레이션 대상지로는 한국교통대학교 인근을 선정하였다. 시뮬레이션 결과, 실시간 수요대응형 자율주행 버스는 기존 노선 고정형 버스 대비 이용자 대기시간과 평균제어지체는 감소하였고, 평균통행속도는 증가하였다. 본 연구를 통해 실시간 수요대응형 버스의 도입을 정량적으로 평가하는 것이 기대된다.

예비품(豫備品) 재고관리(在庫管理)를 위한 정량발주모형(定量發注模型) (A FOQ Model for Spare-Part Inventory Control)

  • This paper deals with a FOQ( ; fixed-order quantity) model for spare-part inventory control. In a spare-part inventory problem, stock depletion arises not from external market demand but from internal demand resulting from failures of parts in use. The problem differs from the classical inventory problem in that the demand for a failed part never arises more during stockout period, since the unit remains inoperative when stockout occurs until the failed part is replaced by new one. In the problem under consideration, n identical units are operating simultaneously and failed one is replaced immediately by new one if on-hand spares remain. In order to replenish spares, an order with quantity Q is placed whenever the number of on-hand spares falls to levels. The average annual cost of operating the spare-part inventory system is derived under the assumption that both lifetime of a part and replenishment lead-time distributions are exponential.

  • This paper proposes a short-term water demand forecasting algorithm based on kalman filtering with data mining for sustainable water supply and effective energy saving. The proposed algorithm utilizes a mining method of water supply data and a decision tree method with special days like Chuseok. And the parameters of MLAR (Multi Linear Auto Regression) model are estimated by Kalman filtering algorithm. Thus, we can achieve the practicality of the proposed forecasting algorithm through the good results applied to actual operation data.

Demand Response Impact on Market Operator's Revenue and Load Profile of a Grid Connected with Wind Power Plants

  • Economic properties of an integrated wind power plant (WPP) and the demand response (DR) programs in the sample electricity market are studied. Time of use (TOU) and direct load control (DLC) are two of the DR programs that are applied in the system. The influences of these methods and the incentive payments by market operator's (MOs) with variable elasticity are studied. It is observed that DR with TOU and DLC programs together yields better revenue and energy saving for MOs.

Combined Traffic Signal Control and Traffic Assignment : Algorithms, Implementation and Numerical Results

  • Traffic signal setting policies and traffic assignment procedures are mutually dependent. The combined signal control and traffic assignment problem deals with this interaction. With the total travel time minimization objective, gradient based local search methods are implemented. Deterministic user equilibrium is the selected user route choice rule, Webster's delay curve is the link performance function, and green time per cycle ratios are decision variables. Three implemented solution codes resulting in six variations include intersections operating under multiphase operation with overlapping traffic movements. For reference, the iterative approach is also coded and all codes are tested in four example networks at five demand levels. The results show the numerical gradient estimation procedure performs best although the simplified local searches show reducing the large network computational burden. Demand level as well as network size affects the relative performance of the local and iterative approaches. As demand level becomes higher, (1) in the small network, the local search tends to outperform the iterative search and (2) in the large network, vice versa.

  • A computer-aided simulation model for inventory control was developed using Apple II Plus micro-computer. The model forecasts quarterly demands with Single Exponential Smoothing method and simulates Supply Demand Review and Inventory Level Settings for each items. The simulation is based on the assumption that the demand occurrences have their own probability distributions.

  • With the introduction of the ubiquitous technology, the housing culture centers of construction companies have demonstrated future housing image and technology. However, ubiquitous home services are technology oriented items. The purpose of this study was to identify u- services which were realized in domestic future housing and to compare those with services the residents needed greatly refer to researches related to demand for u-service. For this study, field studies were conducted with 3 domestic future housings and precedent studies on demand for u-service were analyzed according to the standard of residents' demand. The results of the study showed that residents prefer u-services for security and control of indoor environment for housework and leisure life. As a result, u-services which residents needed mainly did not correspond with those that were displayed in future housing.

  • A high peak power demand at substations will result under Moving Block Signalling (MBS) when a dense queue of trains begins to start from a complete stop at the same time in an electrified railway system. This may cause the power supply interruption and in turn affect the train service substantially. In a recent study, measures of Starting Time Delay (STD) and Acceleration Rate Limit (ARL) are the possible approaches to reduce the peak power demand on the supply system under MBS.   • In this research, the system is assumed to carry a single item of which the demand types vary. Demand type is defined as a management's classification of the item according to the demand source or to the service purpose. The purpose of this research is to find the optimal inventory control policy when the system carries a single item which consists of multiple demand types. In this research, the optimizing algorithm contains a heuristic, therefore, the optimal is not guaranteed by the algorithm. At least, this research provides the solution to the problems that have not been solved by the existing algorithms.
