  • The Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) controller is the most popular industrial controller and more than 90% process industries use this controller. During the past 50 years, numerous good tuning methods have been proposed for Single Input Single Output Systems. However, design of PI/PID controllers for multivariable processes is a challenge for the researchers. A comparative study of three PID controllers design methods has been carried-out. These methods include the DS (Direct Synthesis) method, IMC (Internal model Control) method and ETF (Effective Transfer Function) method. MIMO PID controllers are designed for a number of 2×2, 3×3 and 4×4 process models with multiple delays. The performance of the three methods has been evaluated through simulation studies in Matlab/Simulink environment. After extensive simulation studies, it is found that the Effective Transfer Function (ETF) Method produces better output responses among two methods. In this work, only decentralized methods of PID controllers have been studied and investigated.

  • To manage the Internet of Things(IoT) Network, which consists of a large number of various devices, a secure and automatic method of strengthening the IoT network is being proposed. Blockchain has a 'smart contract' element of autonomous execution method, which is emerging as a way to not only exchange data quickly without mediators but also securely and automatically manage processes between IoT devices. In this paper, we implement a prototype of the entire IoT device management system based on the EOSIO with DPoS(Distributed Proof of Stake)-based blockchain structure, proposed as a prior study, including the user application DApp(Decentralized Application) and the actual IoT devices (Raspberry Pi-based device, and smart lamp) that interact with the blockchain platform. We analyze the benefits of the system and measure the time overhead to show the feasibility of the system.

  • In this paper, we propose a SBT user authentication method for decentralized environment like blockchain. Due to tranparancy of blockchain, it is difficult to secure the privacy of person information, so it is necessary to use a new authentication method. In order to solve this problem, research using SBT for user authentication is being conducted, however most studies have implemented SBT in form of removing function which is related to trasmission from NFT without applying the technical features requried for SBT. The proposed scheme of this paper is implemented SBT which secured safetey and usabillity with using locking token function of ERC-5192. Also, based of implemented SBT scheme propose a user authentication process. To verify our approach, we set a hypothetical user authentication scenario based on the proposed user authentication process and deployed a smart contract that satisfies the 19 function call scenarios that occur in that scenario.

  • A control system design with Coefficient Diagram Method (CDM) is proven that effective for SISO control design. But the control system design for MIMO via CDM is not concrete procedure. In this paper presents the control system design method for quadruple-tank process via CDM. By using the decentralized method for both non-minimum phase and minimum phase are made. The results from Integral-Proportional (I-P) controller’s design via CDM and standard Proportional-Integral (PI) controls are also shown to compare the merits of the proposed controllers.

  • With the propagation and spread of the new regeneration energy and increase in electricity demand, power systems tend to be decentralized, and accordingly, the use of a power system stabilizer tends to expand for the stabilization of the distribution system. Thus, typical power system stabilizer, Static Var Compensator (SVC) is developed on a variety of topologies. In addition, the trend of technology leads from SVC to Static Synchronous Compensator(STATCOM) technology development. Recently, to overcome STATCOM's conversion losses and economic disadvantages, studies of a hybrid method using STATCOM and SVC in parallel have actively been conducted. This study proposes a new Soft-Step Switching method to limit inrush current problematic in Thyristor Controlled Capacitor (TCC) method in SVC function. In addition, to reduce Statcom's capacity, groups of reactive power compensation reactor and condenser for SVC were designed.

  • In this paper, distributed tension observer for R2R process is proposed. The minimal order observer theory is utilized to design the distributed tension observer. The proposed method estimates the tension of a specific sub-process based on the speed and tension information from its adjacent sub-processes. Utilizing its properties, the proposed method can be applied to decentralized control structure. In order to achieve high estimation accuracy, sliding mode technique is also adopted to the proposed method.

  • This paper deals with a design problem of a decentralized controller with a strongly connected two-input two-output multivariable system. To this end, we present a classical design approach which consists of two main steps: one is to decompose the multivariable plant into two single-input single-output systems by means of the Individual Channel Design (ICD) concept, the other is to design controller of each channel by the Coefficient Diagram Method (CDM) so that it satisfies, especially, time domain specifications such as settling time, overshoot etc.. A design procedure was proposed and then was applied to a 2$\times$2 hot rolling mill plant. Simulation results showed that the proposed method has excellent control performances.

  • This paper is concerned with the design method of a de-centralized linear control system and its application to vibration control of multi degree of freedom structures. The method is based on the partial model matching on frequency domain by minimizing the relative model error functions between the diagonal elements of the open loop transfer function matrix of the control system and these of the reference model. The method is examined and evaluated by both simulation and experiment of a multi degree of freedom structure(MDFS).

  • In this paper, a near optimal decentralized observer-controller design method is proposed for ramp metering systems based on SDRE (State Dependent Riccati Equation) approach. The optimal nonlinear observer gain is parameterized in terms of the solution matrix of an SDRE. This paper gives a simple algorithm to compute the near optimal observer gain. The optimal control design problem is also considered. Finally, numerical simulation results are given to illuminate the effectiveness and practicality of the proposed design method.
