  • The purpose of this study was to identify the evaluative criteria for leather garment and investigate differences among the evaluative criteria of consumer groups, which were categorized by consumers' lifestyle. A questionnaire was developed and administered 475 males and females from twenties to forties living in Seoul and Daejon during August in 2001. Data were analysed by frequency, factor analysis, cluster analysis, t-test and one way-ANOVA. The results were as follows: 1. The leather garment evaluative criteria were found to have four different dimensions: a) aesthetic, b) sensory properties and quality, c) practicality, and d) symbolism. Especially, the sensory properties and quality including the weight of the leather garment, odor, and hand feel were identified as distinctive evaluative criteria for leather garment compared with general garments. 2. The leather garment evaluative criteria were used differently according to consumers' lifestyle. Consumers with a passive lifestyle tended to consider economic efficiency and practicality. The confident and active consumers with interests in their appearances tended to buy leather garment for symbolic and aesthetic reasons. 3. There were significant differences in evaluative criteria for the leather garment among demographics-gender, age, and marital status.

  • This study was done to develope a computer program for the evaluation of quality of nurisng care. Because the professional nursing care should be evaluated consistantly, computer program for the measurement of quality of nursing care is necessary for the effective and efficient management of nursing quality. In this study, a computer program for gastrointestinal surgery patients was developed as a module. Visual basic 4.0 was used as a basic program for the development of this program, and Access 7.0 was used for the data base construction of the program. The systems of evaluation criteria were hierarchical. and the titles of the hierarchical criteria were evaluation area-evaluation item-indicator. Each evaluation area contained several items and each evaluation item contained several indicators. The numbers of the evaluation criteria for gastrointestinal surgery patients were 7 evaluation areas, 32 evaluation items. and 71 indicators. Content validity of the evaluation criteria(in this case, 32 evaluation items) was .95. Scoring could be possible with the evaluation items. For the scoring types of this program were two. norm-referenced type(option 1) and criterion-referenced type(option 2), the user can choose the type according to the purpose of the evaluation. With this computer program. accurate and consistant evaluation of the quality of nursing care could be expected. Also. by the rapid feedback to nursing care practice. quality of nursing practice could be improved rapidly. and the systems of the evaluation criteria developed in this study could be used for the development of other moduls for various kinds of patient groups. Because this computer program was developed only for the purpose of research, it is necessary to be refined commercially to be used in real nursing situation.

  • This study proposes new fashion brand evaluation criteria. In developing the criteria, we emphasize the following considerations: first, the object of the evaluation should be the brand rather than the products or store second, the "new" brand should be the "new" brand from the consumer's perspective finally, only fashion brands available in department store are included to examine the relationship between evaluation criteria and consumers' relationship quality perception with a department store. Our data analysis of an online survey panel sample of 537 female consumers produced six new fashion brand evaluation criteria: merchandise power, in-store communication, brand/company image, salesperson, VMD, and assortment variety. New fashion brand evaluation criteria factors include both brand attributes and store attributes. Brand-related evaluation criteria are merchandise power, assortment variety, and brand/company images, whereas store-related criteria are VMD, salesperson, and in-store communication. The associations among brand evaluation criteria, brand attitudes, and the consumers' relationship quality with department store were tested by regression analysis.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of demographic characteristics and general buying characteristics of knitwear consumers on evaluation criteria and information source searching. In this study, a self-administered questionnaire was distributed to young career women and female undergraduate students. Of 580 questionnaires, 496 were used in the following analysis. The data was analyzed with the SPSS package. The research method used factor and reliability analysis to segment consumers by their knitwear evaluation criteria. T-test, one-way ANOVA and χ²were used to characterize the impact of characteristics of the consumer on knitwear evaluation criteria and information source searching in buying knitwear. The results of this study were as follows. First, the information sources of consumers were significantly different depending on their demographic characteristics(age). According to the difference in relationship between the age of consumers and information sources, the younger the consumer, the more information in fashion magazine, the older, in fashion advertisement on catalog. Second, the knitwear evaluation criteria of consumers was classified according to six characteristics - quality, price, aesthetic, situation, self-expression and external. Their knitwear evaluation criteria were significantly different depending on demographic characteristics(job, age, education, marital status) and the general buying characteristics of knitwear(annual knitwear/clothing buying expense and frequency). Career women and married women placed significant importance on practical aspects like quality and price characteristics, while undergraduate students and single women placed significant importance on practical aspects like quality and price characteristics, while undergraduate students and single women placed significant importance on aesthetic and self-expression characteristics. Also, a group with higher annual knitwear/clothing buying expense and frequency considered aesthetic and self-expression characteristics more important. The lower the annual knitwear/clothing buying expense and frequency, the higher a group considered quality and price characteristics more important.

  • Gradually, there has been increase in the use of qualitative research methods in nursing research. Nursing scholars are using qualitative research methods to explore the essence of nursing and discover its meaning. However, there has been lack of standards for evaluating qualitative nursing research. Often nursing researchers are applying quantitative research evaluation standards to qualitative nursing research. Thus, there has not been any notable qualitative research done to date. In order to improve the quality of nursing research done to discover new knowledge for the nursing, & for development of nursing theory, criteria for critiquing qualitative research should be established. Therefore, this researcher introduced standards as criteria for critiquing qualitative research which are based on literature reviews and re search experiences. The suggested criteria are developed several question's as follows : 1) description of the research phenomena, 2) significance, 3) research purpose, 4) research question, 5) assumptions, 6) researcher's abilities, 7) selection of research samples, 8) data collection, 9) human subjects, 10) data analysis, 11) description of researcher's results, 12) literature review. Follow-up of concrete questions for each of the criterias have been developed.

  • In many engineering applications, the final decision is based on the evaluation of a number of alternatives in terms of a number of criteria. This problem may become very intricate when the selection criteria are expressed in terms of different units or the pertinent data are difficult to be quantified. The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is an effective way in dealing with such kind of complicated problems. Cotton fiber is selected or graded, in the spinning industries, based on several quality criteria. However, the existing selection or grading method based on Fiber quality Index (FqI) is rather crude and ambiguous. This paper presents a novel approach of cotton fiber selection using the AHP methodology of Multi Criteria Decision Making.
