Additional Data Transmission Scheme Using TxID Signal for ATSC System (ATSC 지상파 DTV 시스템에서 TxID를 이용한 부가데이터 전송 기법)

  • In a Single Frequency Network (SFN) for Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) terrestrial digital television (DTV) system, the interferences induced by the multiple transmitters and/or repeaters using same frequency are unavoidable. To ease the interference handing in the SFN for ATSC DTV system, transmitter identification (TxID) signal is recommended in the ATSC terrestrial DTV system. The TxID signal is embedded in the ATSC DTV signal and transmitted from each transmitter and repeater within the SFN and in ATSC recommended practice (RP) A/111, Kasami sequence is recommended as the TxID signal. In this paper, we propose an additional data transmission scheme using the TxID signal. In the proposed scheme, the Kasami sequence not only acts as the conventional TxID of the SFN for ATSC terrestrial DTV system but also carriers the additional data bits on its polarity and the code phase.

Implementation of DTV Indoor Receiving Antenna with Gap Sleeve Structure (갭 슬리블 구조를 갖는 DTV 실내 수신용 안테나의 구현)

  • In this paper, we proposes a DTV indoor receiving antenna with a gap sleeve monopole structure. The proposed antenna uses a basic structure of a sleeve monopole and gap sleeve. To optimize antenna, we have adjusted the gap between monopole and sleeve, the gap between sleeve and ground. In order to confirm the property of antenna parameters, it was used a commercial software, HFSS. For the antenna fabrication, a FR4 dielectric substrate which has a dielectric constant of 4.7 was used. The size of the antenna was $213mm{\times}40mm{\times}1.6mm$. Frequency band of the fabricated antenna was 432MHz ~ 827MHz, and the bandwidth was 395MHz. The maximum gain of the antenna was 2.19dBi. Consequently, it was confirmed the possibility of practical application of the DTV indoor receiving antenna with a gap sleeve monopole structure.

  • KBS는 올해 국내 최초로 업체와 공동으로 개발한 디지털 송신기를 사용하여 실험방송 송출에 성공하였으며, 이 실험방송은 본격적인 필드테스트를 위해 내년도 후반기까지 계속될 예정이다. 본 논문에서는 지상파 디지털 TV 실험 방송을 위해 구축되고 있는 KBS 의 지상파 DTV 송신 시스템에 대해 기술적인 사양과 구성, 그리고 구축 현황에 대해 소개한다.

  • 우리나라는 금년 5월부터 KBS를 시작으로 방송 3사에서 지상파 디지털 TV 실험방송을 실시하고 있다. 이에 따라 정보통신부에서는 기존의 NTSC TV 방송의 효율적인 디지털 방송으로의 전환을 지원하기 위해 지상파 디지털 TV 실험방송 전담반을 구성하여 방송사와 국책 연구소 그리고 관련 업체 대부분이 참여한 가운데 DTV 송출, 송수신 정합, 필드테스트 등을 수행하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 현재 실험방송 전담반에서 작성, 계획중인 우리나라의 지상파 DTV 필드테스트에 대하여 서술한다.

  • In this paper, we propose a prototype system of digital data broadcasting system based on the ATSC data broadcasting standard. This prototype system uses data piping as a mechanism for delivery of arbitrary user-defined data inserted directly into the payload part of the MPEG-2 Transport Stream packets. This data type includes URL or HTML content. After the contents are inserted into the MPEG-2 Transport Stream, they can be delivered through the broadcasting to the DTV set-top receiver. The 75 packets received in real-time during the TV broadcast are used to start display or switch content. This prototype system describes how to achieve common design goals and integrating digital TV and web pages based on the ATSC data broadcasting standard. The prototype system can be used to display digital data contents - HTML, images-on existing TV or digital TV set-tops.

  • 본 논문에서는 ATSC M/H를 이용하면서 기존 HD 및 모바일 서비스와 역 호환성을 유지하는 3DTV 서비스 시나리오를 고려하여 좌영상과 우영상의 부호화 방식 및 해상도가 서로 다른 상황에서 양안식 입체 영상의 화질을 평가한다. 동영상의 시공간적 특성에 따라 다소 차이가 있기는 하지만 객관적인 화질 측면에서 좌우 영상의 차이가 상당히 큼에도 불구하고 합성된 3D영상의 주관적 화질 및 깊이감은 일반적으로 만족스러운 결과를 나타낸다.

Adaptive Pre-/Post-Filters for NRT-Based Stereoscopic Video Coding

  • Non-real-time delivery of stereoscopic video has been considered as a service scenario for 3DTV to overcome the limited bandwidth in the terrestrial digital television system. A hybrid codec combining MPEG-2 and H.264/AVC has been suggested for the compression of stereoscopic video for 3DTV. In this paper, we propose a stereoscopic video coding scheme using adaptive pre-/post-filters (APPF) to improve the quality of 3D video while retaining compatibility with legacy video coding standards. The APPF are applied adaptively to blocks of various sizes determined by the macroblock coding mode and reference frame index. Experiment results show that the proposed method achieves up to 24.86% bit rate savings relative to a hybrid codec of MPEG-2 and H.264/AVC including the inter-view prediction.

Multi-Level Correlation LMS Algorithm for Digital On-Channel Repeater System in Digital TV Broadcasting System Environment (DTV 방송 시스템 환경에서 동일 채널 중계기를 위한 다중 레벨 상관 LMS 기법)

  • In this paper, the equalizer techniques that is able to adopt the digital on-channel repeater for 8VSB-based DTV system has been analyzed and we propose an effective equalizer structure which can reduce the error propagation phenomenon by the feedback signal and improve the receiver performance at the same time. In order to confirm the effective cancellation of the feedback signal, the multi-level Correlation LMS scheme is proposed through the analysis of conventional basic LMS based DFE and Correlation LMS algorithm and as compared with the conventional method, we can confirm the reduction of error propagation. When performing the computer simulation, as the Brazil channel model which is very popular for DTV broadcasting system is adopted, the result is drawn by comparing and analysing the equalizer algorithm. We have examine the symbol error rate which is in the range of 15~25dB of operation receipt SNR and MSE(Mean Square Error) in the DTV broadcasting system. As a result of comparing with the existing method, the signal-noise ratio which is necessary for maintain the bit error correction ability that the means of proposal is same is reduced by about 2~5dB, and in the rate of convergence through the MSE, we found the reduction of needed time.

  • According to appearance of digital broadcasting media such as DTV, IPTV, DMB, and so on, the needs about digital contents have been increased. The cases reusing the producted contents happen frequently, in consideration of the production cost of digital contents and the early digital broadcasting market. In this case, the reused contents must adjust the transfer rate of the digital broadcasting system. The time information included in the contents is shifted in the adjusting process. This paper proposes the efficient method correcting the shifted time information.

  • 지상파 DTV 방송의 전환 및 도입에 있어 문제점 중의 하나는 지형이나 건물에 의해 전계가 약해지는 곳에서의 낮은 수신성공률이다. NTSC의 경우는 화면이 심하게 열화되더라도 시청 자체는 가능했으나 DTV의 경우에는 수신 한계점보다 낮은 전계이거나 처리한계를 넘는 다중경로 성분이 들어오는 경우 수신자체가 불가능해진다. 또한 NTSC와의 동시방송 기간 중에는 재전송을 위한 주파수 채널의 배치도 쉽지 않은 것이 현실이다. 이 문제에 대한 대안으로 KBS 기술연구소에서는 1999년 하반기부터 DTV 중계기 개발과 더불어 동일 채널 중계기술에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 본 논문에서는 동일 채널 중계 개념과 이에 따른 중계시스템의 구현 방법을 도출하고 실제 필드테스트 수행 결과를 다양한 각도에서 분석한다.
