Production of yeast diet has been carried out in batch fermenters under optimum culture conditions. The fermentation of Candida utilis on a $2\%$ complex medium resulted in 1.22 g/L/h productivity and $65\times10^8$ viable cells/ml, and the addition of $15{\mu}M$ zinc to the medium increased both the productivity and the number of viable cells just a little more. In the case of the fermentation of Kluyveromyces fragilis, the highest value of the biomass productivity, 1.94 g/L/h, was obtained on a $2.5\%$ fructose medium with $70\times10^8$ viable cells/ml, and $1\%$ peptone was found to be a growth factor in this fermentation. When $3.5\%$ NaCl was added to the given medium, both the biomass productivity and the number of viable cells decreased significantly in each fermentation, but this may be considered to preserve yeast diet long without osmotic lysis.

Pathogenic effects of 29 different porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome(PRRS) virus isolates were investigated in swine tracheal ring(STR) cultures by examining their effects on the ciliary activity of STR. Inhibition of ciliary movement and destruction of the tracheal epithelium were seen between 72 and 96 hours postinoculation(PI). Virus replication was demonstrated by examining viral infectivity of the supernatants from the STR cultures. PRRS virus antigen in macrophages was detected by a streptavidin-biotin complex(ABC) immunoperoxidase method. Of the 29 PRRS virus isolates, 8 isolates were classified into pathogenic, and the remaining 21 isolates were determined as mildly pathogenic or apathogenic viruses. These results suggest that STR examination may be used as a method for predicting pathogenic variability of PRRS virus isolates.
Continuous fermentation process for the production of soluble glucan using mutant Agrobacterium sp. ATCC31750 has been developed in this research. When the concentration of soluble glucan was higher than 6 g/l, the viscosity of the fermented broth was too high and it needs complex separation process to separate from culture broth. Mathematical models which describe the cell growth and glucan production was developed and they kinetic parameters were estimated with experimental data. They are used for the optimization of continuous fermentation process and calculate optimal dilution rate for easy separation of glucan 4 g/l. With continuous fermentation, glucan production rate was increased 1.8 times more than that with batch fermentation.
Purpose: This paper is to analyze motivation and behavior of alcohol use of employees, and effects of social pressure on alcohol use of employees. Methods: A cross-sectional study was performed with 341 employees in Industrial Complex. Data were collected from June 26, 2007 to July 11, 2007. Collected data were analysed through Frequency, ANOVA, One-way ANOVA test. Result: Social motivation showed the highest mean among motivation of alcohol use, man showed higher mean than woman on confirmity motivation and affirmation motivation. Dangerous alcohol use showed the highest mean among behavior of alcohol use, man showed higher mean than woman on behavior of alcohol use. Effects of peer showed higher mean than effects of family, generally the more high effects of peer is, the more higher confirmity motivation, dangerous and dependent alcohol use showed. Conclusion: Therefore, to decrease alcohol use of employees must be prepared an alternatives to change drinking culture and recognition, and developed for working man and individual workplaces.
Many age-dependent neurodegenerative diseases are associated with the accumulation of abnormally folded proteins within neurons. One of the major proteolytic pathways in the cell is the autophagy pathway, which targets cytoplasmic contents and organelles to the lysosomes for bulk degradation under various physiological and stressful conditions. Although the importance of autophagy in cellular physiology is well appreciated, its precise roles in neurodegeneration remain largely unclear. Recent studies indicate that components of the endosomal sorting complex required for transport (ESCRT) are important in the autophagy pathway. Reduced activity of some ESCRT subunits leads to the accumulation of autophagosomes and failure to clear intracellular protein aggregates. Interestingly, rare mutations in CHMP2B, an ESCRT-III subunit, are associated with frontotemporal dementia linked to chromosome 3 (FTD3). Mutant CHMP2B proteins seem to disrupt the fusion of autophagosomes and lysosomes in cell culture models. These findings suggest a potential mechanism for the pathogenesis of FTD3 and possibly other neurodegenerative diseases as well.
The aim of the present studies was to analyze the physiological background of ethanol inhibition in Zumomonas mobilis. The experiments were carried out with a number of continuous culture to give steady state concentration of ethanol. The domposition of fatty acids in the cells obtained from various conditions was analyzed and cell viability was also estimated. As results, it was found that vaccenic acid was the mafor fatty acid in the cell of Z. mobilis and the concentration was changed apparently to increase as increasing the concentration of ethanol produced from substrate utilization. Finally it was observed also that cell viability was decreased remarkably at the elevated ethanol concentration. Those changes might play important roles in the ethanol fermentation to give more complex phenomena observed at high concentration of ethanol.

The effects of cultural temperature and nutritional components on the production of ethanol using juice of Pyrus serotina as the substrate for Saccharomyces cerevisiae ATCC 4124 were studied. After anaerobic cultivation in 5L flask of a defined pear juice at 2$0^{\circ}C$, ethanol concentration of 11.5%(v/v) could be obtained. The addition of a small amount of K2S2O5 was essential for the successful production of ethanol. Ethanol concentration could be further enhanced by supplementing a small of various complex nitrogen sources. When 0.05% of yeast extract and 0.05% of (NH4)2HPO4 were added to a defined medium, ethanol concentration obtained after 7 day cultivation at 2$0^{\circ}C$ was 12.3%.

Despite rapid social changes, there have been little distinctive or fast shifts in living space, and the kind of housing design that could address the diverse need of residents is required. In the future, complex trend that is built on a mix and match of different sorts of styles is expected to be in vogue. The introduction of natural elements and ornamental factors such as books, antiques and art works into living spaces that are artificial things is expected to contribute to helping people lead a richer and Individual life. This study attempted to present a housing design by instilling culture in an existing living space and making it fit into a new lifestyle. After the position of natural and ornamental components was fixed, a contemporary modern living space was designed, for which art works would become necessary and sufficient conditions. A plane figure of the new living space was offered, and then detailed design for each part was provided. Finally, a finalized design pattern that was suitable for the selected concept was presented.
Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease transmitted by aerosol droplets and characterized by forming granulomatous lesions. Although the number of people infected in the population is high, the vast majority does not exhibit symptoms of active disease and only 5-10% develop the disease after a latent period that can vary from weeks to years. The bases of the immune response for this resistance are unknown, but it depends on a complex interaction between the environment, the agent, and the host. The analysis of cellular components of M. tuberculosis shows important host-pathogen interactions, metabolic pathways, virulence mechanisms, and mechanisms of adaptation to the environment. However, the M. tuberculosis proteome still remains largely uncharacterized in terms of virulence and pathogenesis. Here, we summarize some of the major proteomic studies performed to scrutinize all the mycobacterial components.

Korea has experienced many changes since modern hospitals started to be built. Among these changes, interest in 'Promotion of Curing environment', which is the most fundamental one of the hospital functions, has increased more and more. The lobby makes the first impression of a medical building and that is an important function. Recently, the lobby became highly valued not only as a waiting area or a pathway only but as a cultural area. The lobby is considered simply as a complex and busy area because it plays an important role in the building' communications and access systems and has various uses and functions. Based on the concept of curing environment, the lobby can be planned as a facility combining culture and medical functions by applying multi therapy.
